Can I ask: do you honestly find Carlin to be hilarious, or do you mainly just like and agree with the things he has to say? It seems to me that even many of Carlin’s fans really see him more as a philosopher or insightful social commentator than a comedian. I’ve even seen some of them say so explicitly. Certainly in his later years I don’t hear people cracking up at most of his specials. Of course that’s not to say he wasn’t funny at all, sure he was. Pretty good list. As you said at the start, it's all subjective, but I agree with several of your choices. I love that you included Dave Attell. George Carlin would be number one in my list. On Seinfeld just a little bit: the fact that he doesn't curse does not mean that he shied away from heavier topics. There's a famous suicide bit on the show, there's the fat people bit on Colbert of all people (I think the video on youtube is "seinfeld does his best tight five") and lots of insights about "serious life", like his joke on 23 hours to kill about married life which is amazing: "when I was single I thought my married friends had pathetic and depressive lives. @@matthewshell I think it’s hilarious that you listed 13 people in the comments section of a Top 10 video as if I could fit them all on here. Thank you for the belly laugh
@@TheComedyHistorian to be honest, I love your video and how you defended your favorites. And I knew my perspective might make you laugh, so all good. 😂
Real question, who is your favorite female comedian? My fav hands down is Ali Wong. All of her specials are masterpieces of comedy from her unique perspective.
@@matthewshell favorite female comedians have to be Jessica Kirson and Lynne Koplitz. I saw Lynne open for Louis a few years back and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever seen live. Same with Jessy Kirson
@@TheComedyHistorianawesome! Great choices for best female comedians. Definitely check out all 3 Ali Wong specials if you haven't yet.
ROBIN ROBIN ROBIN ROBIN ROBIN
Patrice wound be my #1, with probably Carlin second, Pryor third and Bill Hicks fourth. Patrice dying young is one of the biggest regrets of my life.
dave attel and mich hedgberg a Demitri martin - make me me laugh from a compleatly different part of my brain but i still think they are up there.
Ron white - Never laughed harder in my life
Richard pryor - stood the test of time. His stuff is still banging out of controll.
Chapelle Burr and Louie - stayed top notch even after hitting the stratosphere and thats almost impossible to do.
Jeff foxworthy - made me pee my pants as a kid so that count for something.
Drop Tosh for Bill Hicks. Carlin was the G.O.A.T., Sebastian who? Richard Pryor was fearless.
I do not hate this list.
why did AI enhance shane gillis into an offerman-hinchcliffe lovechild lmao
I already know who Number one is…
Is he deeply closeted?

Billy “red nutts” Burr stopped being funny since he sold his soul to Disney.
Norm, Patrice, Louis CK and Stanhope are my all time favorites
