Thanks! And yay for homeschooling and homesteading right where you’re at! Keep it up, learn all you can along the way, and you’ll find just the right place 🙂
Great video! Having a homestead is a dream of mine as well, but as a city slicker I definitely like the idea of finding other like minded people who I can learn from. I look forward to future videos from you guys.
Yes, the community part is so key and there are so many steps you can take today right where you're at! Keep at it and you'll totally get where you want to be! Thanks so much for watching and tuning in!!
Great info for me. Last year I started learning to grow and preserve food on our 1/3 acre on a 12 acre wild pond. This year we got 6 chickens. I’m 70 now and don’t know that I’ll want to take on more land though my heart is kind of longing for it. For now I’m trying to maximize what I have now.
Awesome, love the idea of starting where you are and maximizing the space you have!! More land seems dreamy but it's also a big commitment, as we're finding out every day 🙃. All the best to you and thanks for watching!
Great advice! "Even just little things..." Start small, and take it slowly. Layer by layer, but only as much as you can handle. It is, indeed, a lifestyle. God bless you ♥️
We’re in northern Illinois. We’ve had success looking for hardier varieties that grow well in our climate. So while we can’t grow everything we’ve still found there’s plenty of fun and unique varieties to grow. Thanks for watching!
I wonder… On your property, do you have to purchase big farm equipments, tractor, harvester and the like? These cost a lot. How do you manage to buy these on a tight budget?
Good question! We find that’s the sweet spot with only having 5 acres that big equipment and tractors aren’t necessary. We have a small 2 wheel tractor that we purchased used when we bought our property but that’s really it!
Great job guys! Lord willing we will find more land. But we're doing a lot in our little backyard right now. Still homeschooling since 2013! Yay!

Great video and smart tips! I think learning a little at a time to not get overwhelmed is great advice :-)
Thank you! It definitely gets too overwhelming to go any faster. We’ve tried but never with great results 🙃. Thanks for watching!

Can I ask what state you’re in? So often I watch gardening videos and think “well that won’t work, we have snow 5 mths of the year”!
