How unfortunate that someone so affectionate towards the game could not allow an expansion even under his own terms . . it would have been the perfect organisation . .room for amateurs and professionals
PDC gives me great entertainment all year around on sky sports and its exciting that eventually a new generation of dart players will be coming through in the pdc

Sorry - hadn't realised that the Count had defected (it was only last year). My argument is that these select group of players (that you call them) wanted to improve the image of darts (and thus restore its then ailing popularity), but the BDO annoyed them with its indifference to the problem by refusing to deal with it!

the world masters was regarded as the world title until the official embassy was started In 78 this was won by Alan Evans john Lowe and Brissy until 78 all went PDC. The news of the world was the other world tournament before 78 this dated back to the 20's late 70's winners included swedens stefan lord and legend billy lennard however these were not playing pro darts by 1993/94
Both sides have a valid point. Olly is running, a closer to amateur grass revival type passion for darts. The top BDO Players have a point too, when running this large of a dart association or brotherhood, you have to pay more attention to the cream that rises to the top. Without one you do not have the other.

Olly and his wife did have a family and the eldest of sons wanted to fly the nest, they wouldn't allow it. Does this make them bad? No. Does it make them evil that they wanted their entire family together. No. However it did make them out to be a bit selfish. It happens in US dart leagues all the time.

The 2 organisations work well together and need each other. One is a grassroots and feeder org and the other is the glam pro org for the stars
The BDO still try and compete with the PDC on a professional level, you are right, but there lies the ongoing problem.
The BDO should have embraced being the home of amateur darts. Instead they foolishly tried to compete with the PDC, which has brought them to their current pitiful state. In any case the PDC has now started to usurp them there too with the challenger and youth tours, Riley amateur qualifiers etc. A lot of aspiring players now don't even bother with the BDO.
olly will have to give in, eventually there will be 1 title once again and it'l probably be the wdf.

People just decide to cover over the fact the the game actually costs a lot to run,them select players were not bothered about the game growing they were bothered about making more money....period.If they were bothered then why have many top County/youth players always been ignored? taking a group of select guys who were all either top players or legends & selling it was easy,because the rest of the game was ignored.
Ted Hankey is in the PDC!!! your comment is totally wrong,im sorry but you are talking about a select group of players that is run on the hope that the BDO produces enough talent so they can steal them.Martin Adams has had a beef for years maybe you should read up on what it is.Popularity is & should never be based on who makes more bloody money,whatever the players make is their issue & anyway as Taylor has dominated for most of the time since the split he is the only 1 who has made a mint.
They were darts professionals in a dying profession, do you still begrudge the best players the right to earn a crust. Who gave that couple the right to keep a very old game to themselves? The last tournament standing was only 20years old give or take at the time of the world championship split and was going backwards, it was not set in stone. They even said themselves Bristow made it popular so they owed him not the other way around, but they would not listen to common sense. A mute point now as it's now being shown in a larger market, the states on BBC America. Ironic eh the darts prem being pushed by the BBC and the late Eric Bristow led the players split.
BTW Maritn Adams is deluded, he cant wrap his head around the fact people are prepared to pay more to see the better players at the Ally Pally and sing and enjoy themselves. Best he stay where the competition is easier bar the odd player.
How many people know that Phil Taylor had won 2 world titles before the split making it 18 instead of 16.
I know one guy who doesn´t know that Phil Taylor won 2 world titles before the split making it 16 instead of 14.......
