Back when he was just a local luthier in Greenwich Village, he rebuilt my father‘s 1903 Martin parlor guitar, which had been shattered.D’Angelico was such a brilliant lunatic that he reconstructed it out of what were vasically shards. I still have it and it still sounds amazing.

The money D'Angelico spends just to cut that special headstock means something to me as a consumer, that great history is carved in that headstock along with the graphics and the step block tuners, TV Jones PUs, it oozes vibe and with the legendary rhythm guitarist/singer Bob Weir putting his name on it, it's got me GASSing for that model now!!!!

You’re right about them and Guild winning headstock beauty contests, and these always looked classy like the roaring 20s of NYC. Would be nice for somebody to make them iconic in rock the way the LP is now.
I always hated them except on archtops, even though I like art deco in general, but they kinda grew on me. Eventually I broke down and bought a Bedford SH. Excellent guitar, and now I love the headstock.
D'Angelico's design aesthetic is one of my favorites among guitar makers, and every time I've tried one at a store, I've always been impressed. Now they've introduced this model and I absolutely cannot wait to try it out as soon as I can. I can very realistically see myself coming home with it, too!😉
I think you'll like it. The only thing I had to tweak on mine was the truss rod ever so slightly. I also think I might go to 9 gauge strings on this one. It's a 25" scale, so the same as PRS. I've always liked 9s on my PRS guitars.

I'm so glad, you picked one of D'Angelico for review. I by accident bought one her in Germany and I could not be happier since then. I compared a Gibson ES 335, some Gretsch and Duesenberg and others and the D'Angelico Deluxe mini DC stood out in tone as well as in feel and it is one of the most beautiful looking and feeling guitars I ever had in my Hand! It has split coil hum buckers which are sounding gorgeous, as well in normal mode as in split mode. It is by far the most versatile sounding guitar I ever had and it is killer!
Wow, some of those tones!! I was hearing, J.J. Cale, & Carlos Santana. I would say that those pickups have got it covered. Love the build quality too, right down to the case. Hoping you get this one out again, and again. Just to see how it ages. Excellent video, and subject matter. Looking forward> to the next.

He also has a Gib ES 335, and he prefers the D'Angelico. Of course, one is a semi-hollow and the Bedford's a solid bod. 2 different animals. They are outstanding guitars at affordable prices. P.S. I recently bought a D’Angelico Premiere Mini DC, & I love it. Fit & finish is beautiful, & it came stock with Duncan JB & Jazz pickups. What attracted me to the brand was the ornate headstock as well. It just screams class. Fretwork & setup on the guitar was perfect out of the box. I thought the $800 pride tag was well worth it, so it pains me to see the same guitar listed on Marketplace for less than $500. These guitars are very underrated. And you’re a superb player. Love your style, you sound like you should be playing with Steeley Dan!

I don't like gold hardware on anything or even the bigsby style bling that much, but that headstock is iconic. 1970s Ibanez Artist guitars had a simplified version of the same vibe it that I like too. Your playing suited that guitar very nicely dude.
Beautiful guitar! I used to have a Guild S-60 and Guild D25M Electric Acoustic. The guitar seems to be more affordable for the quality. That's not a bad price for what you get! Sounds beautiful!
4 years ago I bought their 12 string acoustic electric 12 string guitar. It has the same headstock as yours. It comes with the same case as yours. I was very impressed how it was still in tune right out of the case. It sounds killer all by itself, but plugged in, it's a whole different animal! Bought it from sweetwater on sale for about $600. I had it in 3 days.
Really looks like a nice guitar and I can tell the sound is amazing and buy your playing I can tell the board action is nice. I really dig this backing tracks and I enjoyed jamming along. That Grateful Dead jam rock stuff is right up my alley!

I have a D’ NY-DC, double cut, 335 clone, that absolutely kills. It’s from the “Vestax years,” when they were made in Japan, so quality is the best ever of this wandering brand.
Beautiful guitar and amazing sounds. Great playing - keep it coming. Like you, I love the headstock. My all time favorite headstocks are the original Ovation as well as the scroll top headstock on the original "The Gibson" mandolins.
That thing is absolutely gorgeous. They have several models that I would like to own. Their solid bodies are quite reasonably priced for what they are. Underrated company.

Ok it's not american made, but to me the most beautiful headstock is the one of the Ibanez Bob Weir 2681 model, with also its tree of life fretboard. Very nice D'Angelico Brad !

Headstock looks like the end of a wizard's staff where the magic shoots out. Other than that it looks pretty cool.

I have a D’ NY-DC, double cut, 335 clone, that absolutely kills. It’s from the “Vestax years,” when they were made in Japan, so quality is the best ever of this wandering brand.

Like you, I love the headstock. My all time favorite headstocks are the original Ovation as well as the scroll top headstock on the original "The Gibson" mandolins.

That thing is absolutely gorgeous. They have several models that I would like to own. Their solid bodies are quite reasonably priced for what they are. Underrated company.

Ok it's not american made, but to me the most beautiful headstock is the one of the Ibanez Bob Weir 2681 model, with also its tree of life fretboard. Very nice D'Angelico Brad !
Sweet Sweet guitar & Playing! I picked up a Bob Weir Premier last year. After seeing somebody play 1. Put a Vega-Trem in it. 2 p-90's & a single coil in the middle.Blender knob for p-90's.Headstock is Classy.Looking forward to your next D'Angellico video.

@@TheGuitologist After a set-up & adding the Vega-trem.👍 Vega-Trem is the Smoothest Trem I've ever played on.Offset body neck-thru ,cutaway is at the 22nd fret.Love the Blender Knob.Wasn't planning on buying Another guitar...LOL
