100 % a well played safety beats the heck out of leaving a hanger or selling out any day. You have always been a solid decision maker. I made a decent hit, and I would even say I got a little fortunate with just leaving you that bank shot. You made a nice bank, and that key 7 ball up the rail was a great stroke. Good game buddy. 👍🏽

That was very well done. The safety vs the low % was a great move. Then going for the run down the rail was a better % than trying another safety.

Thanks man. I really didn't want to push my luck and go off the end rail and freeze up to the 8 on that first safety. I just wanted to ensure the hook and deal with whatever Andrew left me. Thanks for watching and commenting

O yes. Wish my brain could do that. Thanks for the info and keep doing it. Helps me understand the game better

Very good players will attempt a dual purpose shot on that 5 ball where they'll try to pocket on the pro side and bring the cue ball behind the 7.

That's interesting. So basically exactly what I outlined when I spoke about going for the 5. Except now aim to leave the cue ball in close proximity to the 7 in case I leave a hangar. I hope I understand you right. That's a shot that would have to be absolutely pin point perfect in my opinion. I really can't see myself attempting it. I guess that's why I'm not a pro😀. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

@@HereAfterBilliards yeah i feel you. If it's me I'll just thin the 5 to leave it middle of short rail and try to hide it behind 7 if possible. At least I'm not giving an open shot if it didn't go behind 7.

Great stuff. Did you call the bank on the first five ball just in case? It's a good two way shot.

Nope I never called the 5 and I wouldn't want to. My goal was to lock him up tight. If I sunk the 5 ball because I called it and then hooked myself solid in the 7 I'd probably 😭😢😂

@@HereAfterBilliards If you accidentally make a ball like that and suddenly have an open shot on the next ball, you get to continue. If you don't have an open shot, obviousy your opponent have the option to give it back. But if you call "safe" AND accidentally make the ball - your opponent has control over the situation. He would get to continue if the situation is benefitial, or give it back if it's not. That's why you see pro's call unlikely balls instead of calling safeties in 10-ball. I have a short clip about this on my channel.

@@PoolProblems LOL. I've been meaning to make a video for quite sometime about the reason why I'll never announce a safety. Of course my reasoning is much more immature as years ago I called "Just a shot' and sunk my ball and played safe. That was the year they changed the rule to you must call 'Safety'. I was advised that I would have to continue shooting by the ref. I promised myself that day that I'd never call a safety again in 8 ball or 10 ball. LOL

In my case I had to try to kick the 5 towards the 7 and leave the cueball as close as possible behind the 8. My buddy I'm playing regularly loves to jump, and most of the time he pots. even with long distances. So the situation in the video would not be enough secure.
