Very cute! The holidays were a nightmare, I am glad they're over for a year. I didn't do any fun sewing things, but the new crochet gloves are coming along!
Have had this pattern for a long time- for just what you say: a sew as you wish adventure! Would never have considered the pleats until seeing yours. The right fabric (and skill) really makes it more appealing. Good work. Looking forward to the happy warm weather version!
Happy new year to you and plenty of success on the sewing challenge. I do love the empty stare of people when I use words they don't know (yes,😈 I'm evil like that).
Omg this has reminded me I have utterly forgotten to add pockets to the skirt I am making. 🤦♀️ Apart from that, I love it. Especially when the camera pulled back and I could see the length.

I had to laugh about the cat food cans for fabric weights. Were I to do that, my wee black cat would have had a frenzied panic attack seeing all of his "food" out there on the table. The dress is lovely, and I will be looking up the Cashmerette patterns.
Great job. I haven't tried any Cashmerette patterns because, last I knew, they didn't come up to my size. My measurements are beyond theirs. And I have talked to Cashmerette about this, so she's aware of the issue. But being a small-ish indie patternmaker and designer it's difficult for her to size up for all the larger sizes. Though I'll have to check the website to see if their sizing has changed in any way. And I'd love to see some vintage button on your blouse. Sounds like a good idea.
Ooh what a great idea for pattern weights, I have those. The dress is great, but your sarcastic comic relief is better. That is the real reason I love your videos.
I was at Fabricland a couple days ago. I found a beautiful berry wine suiting (100% unknown content on the lable) for $2.50 a metre!!! I bought the whole bolt, just over 5m. @@stevezytveld6585 hey Cathy hope you and yours had a great holiday and a happy healthy new year!! I think the corporate fashion overlords have failed in the goals of taking our money. It’s like they think that gaining weight means we lose all sense of fashion!!! Though the fashion police (aka my daughter) do say that my sense of fashion is lacking. This isn’t a new thing either when she was 7 she took one look at me and said “your not wearing that to church are you”. It was like living with a skewed version of my sister all over again. A couple of times I even told my sister to come get her daughter!! Lol. At least she does have a very good eye and has never tried to put me in anything not age appropriate!
A great course ( by Cashmetette) is their “Sloper School”. You create a muslin , working out any and all fitting issues on the Wyman Sloper dress, and then you have a fabulous fitting Sloper dress that you can use to design other garments, or use to fine tune a dress pattern. I’m taking the course right now ( April 2024) and am having great success. Think about it ~ You too might find it will help you get a great fit, especially in the Cashmerette patterns.
I find the first try at any pattern never reaches my expectations. But everyone tells me it looks great. 😆 Looks like a really versatile pattern. I await the inevitable trying of every possibility of combinations in different fabrics. Yes. I read the dictionary for fun...twice.
It turned out so nice. You look great. I was wondering how this pattern company worked. My woman's work shirts have a placket and NO buttons.. I asked for men's shirts, same style polo tee but of course with buttons up the placket. I get the frustration with low cut tops especially for work wear.. just why? lol

@@MaireColclough One cheep ass bitch to another - Sing It, Sister. You go rock that Miz Maxi music. 'Cause I find better fabric at the flippin' Village of Value than I do at the one 'mainstream' sewing shop left in town (everything else has been eaten by quilters...)
@@stevezytveld6585 Yay, thrift shop! 😃
@@MaireColclough OK. The squirrels were rampant - just got to the end of the video. Dress of Doom. Humbug. It's lovely. Looking forward to the summer version.
Today is apparently 'choose your own adventure day' for Cos Tube. Have you flipped through all the variations of Morgan Donners adventures yet?.
And if you don't want me typing for an hour don't even get me started on how the big-box-plus-size-shops consistently make the clothing that kind of fits me could also look much, much better on Flippin' Big Bird...
Corporation Fashion Overlords - you're suppose to be better at sucking the money out of us. What gives?!
Thanks for the info! I'll check it out 😃
I find the first try at any pattern never reaches my expectations. But everyone tells me it looks great. 😆
Looks like a really versatile pattern. I await the inevitable trying of every possibility of combinations in different fabrics.
Yes. I read the dictionary for fun...twice.
5:20, I screamed (inside my head) POCKETS!
It turned out so nice. You look great. I was wondering how this pattern company worked.
My woman's work shirts have a placket and NO buttons.. I asked for men's shirts, same style polo tee but of course with buttons up the placket. I get the frustration with low cut tops especially for work wear.. just why? lol
