I was part of the original security team at the Udvar Hazy Center National Air and Space from 1/2004 to 9/2009. It is an amazing place. I met Mr Hazy himself because he would on occasion come by and talk to visitors usually meeting them by the SR71

How exciting! We hope you have a good trip! From DC, you can take the Metro Silver Line and get off at the Wiehle-Reston East Station. From here, you could either Uber or take the Fairfax Connector Bus Number 983. You can use your Smart Trip metro card to pay for the bus fare, as well.
