This is sweet, im gonna tie some up. Alot of the shutz outfitter guys flies have really nice darting action, those expensive rainys diver heads that mike uses are awesome
How would you compare the Gami worm hook labeled size to say the Aberdeen ahrex hook that’s similar? Similar or do the worm hooks run a bit smaller would you say?
It works well for both. I was just trying to get a pattern that would have side to side action, which this does, after a long hard strip it will kick to one side or the other. It seems like all the fish in the lake eat it.
Have you tested this with an articulation joint as opposed to the stiff shank? Ive been trying to get reliable side to side in the lakes for years and still aren't all that happy with it
Really the best way to get the side to side action is to put a hook behind a shank and tie your line to the shank. I just don't like the hook location when I do that.
@@alexlafkasfishing thanks, i agree. Material density is an issue with a heavy hook in back and a light shank up front as well. Gonna give your brush head a try, appreciate the videos

I played with those heads years ago but haven't in a while. Good to know, thanks
Really digging the new content, thanks big dog.
Appreciate it! Working on stuff everyday. More fishing than tying right now but good content
That is a really good looking pattern. Gonna have a go at it for fishing lakes here in SE PA
Thanks!
Welcome back! 😊😊😊
As someone who fishes and ties flies for still water bass for half the season, I agree can be very frustrating if your not in spring or fall
And the technique is less fun to me than when they are shallow
Yes Alex!

I think they are very similar in size.
I will say that the smaller gami seem lighter wire. I like the gami in 2/0-5/0. Smaller than that, they seem a bit too light for me
Great looking fly m8!!!
Is this for pike or bass??

I have and this works better for me. I get the best action when I pull the line slowly then very hard at the end of the strip.

Do you ever throw smaller trout type streamers/ bugs for smallies?
I do. Prespawn is my favorite time for big flies on inland lakes. In the great lakes we fish a bunch of clouser style flies and smaller baitfish
@@alexlafkasfishing would love to see a tying video of your clouser style flies you and russ were fishing in the prespawn smallie vid.
@@fishinforacompliment that's on the list
