So the dialog at 2:24 says "place the combat round marker near the combat board" but the video shows placing the upgrade decks near the mutation board. That is repeated from a different angle at 2:38 with the dialog describing it. -- Anyone else catch this?
I was hoping to get clarification on a set up question, but I'm still confused... I have one blueprint card for the first biome, but the rest appear to be equipment. So do I put the "st" equipment on the annex board, or those for the biome?
I don't think "hand checks" are allowed to draw the top card of their combat deck. I've got the rules in my lap, and they specify that you can only use the cards in your hand.
No shade to Becca, because this is a hard game to explain. I encourage everyone to go watch people actually playing the game to get a feel for it. Just solely looking at the raw mechanics doesnt really explain the game that well.
I love board games, and I love Dead Cells, I REALLY don't get why we'd have a dead cells board game. But that's the indie trend these days I guess. I suppose if Frostpunk can work for me maybe this can too.
Frostpunk works well as a boardgame, and the main game is a lot like a boardgame itself. But yeah I definitely see what you mean about Dead Cells... It's not really like a board game at all. I think it could work though, this doesn't look like some cashgrab and apparently the real Dead Cells devs love boardgames and helped make this one. It's not necessary but I like it
Great video! I’m currently backing this for a $1,-, but I will likely upgrade to the Collector Edition (I want those acrylic tokens, tuckboxes and player statue!). The video game is awesome and I think this board game will be a lot of fun too. I do think it might be more of a solo game (using Serenade) than a multiplayer game, because it takes quite some runs to finish the Hand of the King (20-25 runs apparently). I’m guessing people who don’t know the video game might be upset with this idea, and playing an entire night to not really “finish”, might not appeal to most. However, I might be wrong, if you get to fight a boss after 2 biomes, which might make it more fun multiplayer.
combat is weird, 4 players one has to sit out, 2 players 1 player plays 2 cards and the other plays 1....seems better if they would all play one and the enemy count or strength would have been varied instead somehow
Man maybe I'm just slow of understanding. But this seems and looks harder and more tedious than monopoly lol. And I love dead cells, but I hate monopoly
Great video. Game looks way overwrought though. Dead Cells is my favorite indie game but this board game adaption looks uninteresting and does not reflect the games feeling of speed and flow whatsoever. It will attract non-boardgamers and then punch them the face with components and rules.
When a learn to play video teach you the wrong rules the video defeats its own purpose. They might have changed the rules since the video's making though so probably no fault of Becca. Nevertheless. Can´t use this.

Funnily enough it is the opposite. Graphic design is spot on, mechanics are as far removed from the feel of the video game as possible.
