    The Gretsch sounds good because it ties the room together.

    Jeff is such a "Cool Kat"! Honestly one of my favorite public figures. I am a musician too, and I really enjoy listening to stories from other musicians. What I wouldn't give to have a sit-down with Jeff and "talk shop"!
    I saw him on Jimmy Fallon last night and to see the heart-felt enthusiasm as Jeff & Jimmy spoke of music and guitars!
    What a wonderful interview from a Man I admire deeply! Not just Jeff though...his entire family. What a unique and wonderful family dynamic!

    Jeff has the personality of someone that anyone could strike up a conversation with. Seems so down to earth. People that have reached this level of success and remain this grounded, I wish them continued prosperity for they do have a rich soul.

    Jeff Bridges has SOOO much talent. Acting is something he's known for, but his music is awesome too!

    The first guitar I ever picked up was a burnt orange 6120 with the pad on the back, in Downey CA, pre Beatles era! And now, over 50 years later, I STILL can't tell you what all those switches were for!

    • @alanhardman2447
      @alanhardman2447 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Richard Brubaker - That wasn't a pad, but was actually the sound hole. The "F-holes" on the front were painted on. One more reason that guitar sounded/sounds like no other.

      Small world.... I'm a musician myself by way of graduating class of Downey High c/o 98'
      First picked up a joloppy acoustic at guitar 14 years old, trying to mimic "Wind Cries Mary"..... haven't put down that instrument since. Adding some introspection; I've learned more about myself through my guitars....... and discovered something uniquely magical about the beautiful artform in creativity from my personal favorite guitar.... my white G5420T gretsch

    Nice to hear Jeff Bridges comment on Gretsch Guitars. I picked up a 1962 6120 DC w/ the single knob string mute device. All of the tones a person can pull out of that Guitar is so awesome! The two Filtertron Pickups & the different sounds that you can produce with those switches & knobs is a real treat. It's one of my favorites!

    What I enjoy most about Jeff is how much it shows that he loves what he does for a living. He delivers over and over again, his depth and his ability to play so many types of characters and his music. As if acting isn't enough. When I see him in interviews he shows us who he is as a person. There's little doubt that Jeff is down to earth. What's hard to imagine is if he actually always likes himself. Is he really this laid back, all the time? He could be.

    Now I'm convinced that he was really playing the piano in the "Fabulous Baker Boys" - a movie I can recommend so much.
    I like him since years. One of my favorite actors. He is so relaxed and a "quiet" man.
    Like Dean I wished I could have a beer with him and chat about life and music.

    Bad Blake was Steven Bruton. The manager of my band was a good friend of his and just before he died he gave him a single called "The Face of Love" He played with Bonny Raitt & many others over the years but never quite made it himself despite keeping company with superstars as a musician. I was asked to record the tune. At the time I didn't want to. Now I can't find the demo CD and I'd really like to have it to do a version. Has anyone ever heard this song anywhere? I'm still searching damn!

    Back in the day they were made here in the US. No more. If I am going to pay USA made prices, I want the thing made here, and give some guys a job, not in Japan. I would not mind a Japanese guitar, if it was a Japanese brand. Yamaha, for example. Gretsch used to be American. What are they now? Chinese, Korean, Japanese??? The Bad news is that the Japanese and Koreans are snobs, and buying an "American Guitar' made somewhere else is the kiss of death. Even they want the real American product. But, well , I guess, we get that Rapacious American love of Max Profit, and Americans are getting that good ol' sinking feeling of racing to the bottom in their chase to buy the cheapest possible product.
