PTB is a really awesome feature. I often roll the bass all the way off and get a cristaline tone on my Legacy, very cool for funk vibes. I expected something «ice-picking» at first, but it sounds actually very nice when playing rythm guitar, no matter what pup you select.
I have this setup in a custom built guitar with 2 p90s, plus a mids cut switch. There isn't a tone I can't get. And it's like playing through a compressor with some settings.
The PTB system is extremely versatile and provides really useful, pleasant tones. Like he says, the knobs are actually usable, unlike the typical tone controls on most other guitars.
ok weird, the bottom knob on my s500 tribute (non legacy) is acting like a 2nd volume but the middle tone works properly... I wouldn't think a strat would need 2 volume knobs? bougt it brand new, any ideas? Thanks
@@MajicFreeman True, that is a possibility. But the idea behind the PTB system (or any tone knobs) is that you would have Bass and Treble roll offs from the guitar itself and not have the amp come into it. I suggested contacting the dealer just in case it may be more involved.
Do you mean it seems louder when you turn the lower tone knob up? That’s just the filter effect where the bass and treble is at maximum, it does take getting used to.
Bought a swamp ash Tribute ASAT a few years ago and just added a beautiful used swamp ash Tribute Legacy last week. Can't recommend that tier enough over any import from Fender.

Doug is so articulate! Thank you for the concise explanation of these features :-)
Hi Doug, excellent video showing in real time tone fluctuation.
Great job Doug!!
Would hope if done again please write what was done to making tone from treble bleed circuits used in G&L instruments.
PTB is a great feature. Merry Christmas to all at G&L
The problem is…once you have a PTB you wonder how you ever played without one!!!

Sounds like warranty work. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix or replace it.
@@charlie-obrien that is weird, sure it's not just adding so much bass to a bassy amp that it basically sounds like volume?

Framus guitars had nearly identical bass control circuts by 1968.
