The non-orchestral version of this song has more emphasis on the metal side of the music, and is a certified banger; I'd definitely recommend it. If you like the orchestra/metal mash up, I'd definitely say check out Metallica's 1999 concert S&M, maybe the songs Enter Sandman or The Thing That Should Not Be, because both of those songs really benefitted from the orchestral backing. Honestly since Metallica's S&M concert, no one has been able to duplicate the same amount of power. The Architects Abbey Road studio album is insane and if they did this live, it would be up there with Metallica's S&M in my opinion.

The reason metal and orchestras or classic music goes so well together is because its actually very much following the same "model" There is a reason some of the greatest works from Mozart and Chopin and so on was called the heavy metal of the past. Complex shifting melodies, extreme talent, and very hard to perform. While having great flow and sound. Metal and classic music has much more in common than people think. Much more than classic and pop or something like that. Pop is simple, easy both to perform and to listen to. Classic is not, its hard and complex. takes a long time to master, and understand. Its the same with metal. And that is one of the reason it work so well together. because they follow the same principles of music.
I have some songs I wish you could react to. If you want some more Depeche Mode you could check out "Question of lust", or "Somebody" live 1988. Another song I think you would like is a cover of "Nothing else matters" sung by Jadyn Rylee. She was only 10 years old when she did that cover.

Not bad adaptation ... but I still prefer the original song... orchestras sometimes add, sometimes don't, I think i this version they change totally the bluntness of this song. Nice reaction!! If you like them, you can also check some songs from Periphery and TesseracT, two very similar bands!

Orchestral is good, like what they did but the original is much meatier, heavier drops, goes harder.
