I thanks for making this video, it's crazy how hard they made it to change the battery, you have to take the whole damn thing apart before you can get the battery out. Million times easier to change the battery on the MacBook Pro.

Wow, I wish they addressed/explained why the battery was made so inaccessible during one of those black turtleneck Apple presentation/conferences. You would think that Apple could be sued for intentionally manufacturing this way to specifically make it damaging/difficult to replace what's supposed to be an interchangeable part. But on the other hand, if the batteries were easily replaceable, they would sell less devices, and businesses like yours would be nonexistent.

Leave it to Apple to hide this battery, why not have it easily removable and replaced.

Its funny how it was designed in a way that you first have to remove almost everything else inside before you can get acces the first thing you will want to replace in the ipad, the battery.
@pdaparts One of my hobbies is building PC's but the first thing that came to my mind when watching your video was this was anything but easy. This looks a like a royal pain in the arse but that's not you fault that's Apple's doing but thanks for the video anyway.

You can ALWAYS get more battery into a 'poured in' space than a replaceable chunk. Think battery life.
Apple made it hard to replace for a reason which aint good for the consumers
Theres a few board are missing (removed) from this ipad. Thats why my ipad looks a bit different. Damn !
This was for the 1st generation ipad. My guess is you have a different generation ipad? which we have other videos for those models?

Yes, if you damage the touch panel when removing it.
also YES if you don't replace the Screen cable, or if you don't replace it corrrectly
a lot of people who you tube stuff like this that don't understand Basic Of Electronics , that being.... ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY
Meaning (in Lamens Terms)
if a little copper Wire is touching a little copper Connector, THERE IS CONNECTIVITY and a CONDUCTIVE PATH
Lesson 2
if there are 2 little copper wires NEXT TO EACH OTHER that each connect to a little copper connector, THEY MUST NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER TOUCH EACH OTHER
if you do, you will likely cause damage
Lesson 3
if Little Copper Wire #1 is supposed to be connected to Little Copper connector #1, but you end up connecting it to little copper connector #2
you will very likely cause damage
best case scenario... the screen will temporarily not work
MEANING.... MAKE DAMN SURE YOU PUT THE CONNECTOR BACK IN PLACE AND ........ THAT ALL THE CONTACTS PERFECTLY MATCH UP WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE CONTACTS ON THE BOARD
you'll know you've done this incorrectly if
a) the screen flickers
b) the screen doesn't switch on at all
c) The screen is unresponsive to touch
very common beginner mistake when people try pulling apart tablets and Laptops

the way i teach the newbies to pull these things apart when they lack experience
i get them to pull apart laptops and tablets that DO NOT WORK
and i do that until they don't break them any further
The Chances of you pulling this off FIRST TIME without damage................... VERY VERY SLIM, but not impossible

if these 'tabs' break while opening it how/where do we get replacements?? Im not sure if i want to do this myself with my daughters ipad but shes killed her battery so hard it died to death by constantly running it down to 0%
I love apple but the battery has always been retarded sense the first gen iPhone. They should make a backplate that unscrews to replace the battery and discount on battery trade ins to insure that ppl don't throw them in the trash. Just sayin

excellent video - my Ipad 3 has just stopped holding charge after 25 months use. I have a 11 year old lap top that still works well (for word processing and internet). Wont be buying another Ipad having just sold my ipad 2.
