I grew up with those. In fact, I remember it specifically when we saw Empire Strikes Back when it first release. In my town General Cinema were everywhere.
I liked seeing this because it takes me back towards my childhood and during my teens. There was one close to my home in Gurnee, Illinois at this one mall that was in Waukegan. I remembered what it was liked before being remodeled and after. I do missed in going to that theater. The last time it was in the mid 90’s.
Never got to see the final variation from 2001. My local General Cinema closed in the late 1990's (possibly 1998). I still wonder who composed the 1964 Feature Presentation harpsichord riff. It was my favorite.
Wow does this bring back memories as a kid Great research great job I remember all these logos except the last one best ones were the 70's and 80's going to the theater as a kid and teen great stuff
I remembered seeing DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp (1990) at a General Cinema theater in Webster, TX Distributor: Disney/Buena Vista MPAA Rating: G Voices of: Alan Young, Russi Taylor, Christopher Lloyd Director: Bob Hathcock
Hey. If the uploader is the one who compiled these, does a version of the Moon Feature Presentation Tag exist without the "film-tech" watermark slapped on it? I have a buddy who restores and AI upscales video and I'd really like to help preserve this tag, but that text makes it a non-starter.
THE NEAREST GENERAL CINEMA LOCATION I ALWAYS WENT TO: RTE. 9, FRAMINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS. I SOMETIMES ORDER A COKE AND A BOX OF BUTTERED POPCORN. Kenneth Huang. 10/12/24.
Poorly edited drums played with Swish Sticks and keyboard every now and then interrupting them later replaced by Pornographic like music. Later the Spotlight version appeared.
I like the intros that start out jazzy and cartoony, then end with that beautiful orchestra as the logo appears
The first jingle this company used (1964-1980) is absolutely superb.
First two videos were formatted for television.

This was spoofed in one sketch on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I forget which episode, though.

It was inspired by the outside spotlights beaming up into the sky in a random fashion.
I can remember the theater that opened up across the way from us it was GCC and had the three spotlights the GCC beaming up into the sky!
Thank goodness for the cheery music 5:55 because it otherwise, it would be liminal, uncanny nightmare
Nice history!
7:01 Who did the music for that bumper?
The Candy Band music was made by the company's own band.
This video is feeling me going to the theater in April to see Onward
