I just recently got axolotls too! I got a Lucy and a wild type. They’re names are Bailey and shadow. Axolotls have the best personalities your going to love them!!!

I’ve been planning on getting one or two of these for my boys, and also for myself because I think they’re so cool. I’ve been doing extensive research on care and prep for taking care of one and I am still worried as shit.. I’d be heartbroken if it dies from neglect and me being naive to the proper way of maintaining them. This video is giving me some confidence.

Cool I officially own my saltwater tank I have a black and white clownfish and normal clownfish also a royal gramma and a hermit crab but not the kind you saved from mistreatments it’s the fully aquatic one that’s always under water

Tips: if ur getting an axolotl keep the room dark the aquarium stones needs to be big or it needs to be sand
Give them alot of space and give them alot of hidey holes

I currently have a baby axolotl, (from a local garden centre partnered with deep blue aquatics.) He is only in a medium-small aquarium at the moment (maybe around 15 gallons) because he is so small and I don't want him to get stressed out with a tank that is extremely big. He will definitely be getting an upgrade when he is ready. He is loving his tank. In the aquarium I got him from, he was sharing a tank with some loches, that kept attacking him. I wasn't planning on getting him that EXACT day, maybe like the next day. But I didn't want him in there being attacked any longer than he had too. So he is now thriving in a species ONLY tank.

hi!! if you have babies i don’t think using a sand substrate will b smart unless it is very very fine. many people use tile instead !!

How many gallons is this? Its 10 gallons per axolotl but in my opinion 20 gallons per axolotl would be ideal to give them plenty of room when I eventually get axolotls I will get a 40 long breeder and have 2 of them.

Axolotl's tank size for anyone wondering is a 20 gallon I prefer a 20 Long because they don't swim up and you add 10 gallons long more depending on how many Axolotls so don't get a 20 gallon long and put 2 or more Axolotls in it.

When I have plant eaters I usually do duckweed and hornwort both grow fast enough to not be bothered by being eaten, don’t sure if an axel would eat duckweed or red root floater but I was thinking once it covers the top completely it provides nice shade for them

Eat Waffle's do more water changes, and your most likely over feeding. Also, make sure you cycle your tanks :)
