+ Jellie Bee today I got a pental color brush in black and 4 prisma color makers and 2 copics and I was really happy because these are my first expensive art supplies.
Fun fact. That particular type of brush is called a rigger because they were used for painting the rigging on ships, which needed lots of thin, tiny lines. :D
As a seamstress who is also a hoarder of much stuff relating to sewing, the really useful boxes are a dream come true. Especially when stacking and organising them! :D
If you are really eager to buy but don't have that much money you buy the holder and nibs separately but I'll recommend the sets becomes you get more nine for less money.. Just save some and buy them.. They feel really great..
A tip you could use for you told ink is to put cling film under the lid so if some ink got to the threads it will not stick the lid and bottle together, and at the same time you save money. :) i hope this helped some people
I always called those long thin brushes, lettering brushes (mostly because that's what my mother used them for). I loved this. I love seeing other people's art supplies.
You're so good to include warnings about syringes and needles. You're so thoughtful to your viewers :) Also ahhh looking at all of these really makes me want to buy more inking supplies... though I really shouldn't right now... and cute sneeze at the end :P
it is so nice of you to warn people about the serynges! and i love your collection and the idea to refill your brushmarker... i will do that too now. i thought about it in the past but i wasnt sure if it would be to messy or not so i havent done it jet. so thank you for helping reduce the amount of plastic use!^^
I use India ink it very good if you don't want a messy drawing because it's dries in like in 10 seconds and I'm using the speedball the 2 ounce bottle and here's a tip shake the bottle and take the tap off and in the tap you'll see some dried ink dilute it with water and depending how much water you you'll get different shades of Grey (idk how it only dialutes in the tap bc it water resistant)
Ohh I love the Sakura koi watercolour set, also the water rush that came with it was great, I think I prefer the brush on it more then my pentel one. Lovely seeing though your tool box, man I just love the packaging on the Winsor and Newton inks
Have you tried the slightly larger Winsor and Newton inks? They don't have the cute little boxes, but its really opaque and it was only a little bit more here in my local shop, maybe 10 or 20 pence at most.
have you heard of goulet pens? they have a ton of sample ink colors that seem like a good deal! I've been thinking of getting them myself but I thought I'd suggest it as an art supply video that might be interesting c: you could even make an art challenge out of it using all the colors in the sample 😄
Lovely video Jellie! Btw the black ink is Chinese, bc there's no hiragana, that symbol u thought was け was not because the first line was split into two it looked a bit like: 'it' not 'け'
I found a tip awhile back on how to keep Windsor and Newton gold inks lid from sticking shut. rub alittle Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on the bottle threads and it should keep the lid from ever sticking to the cap. I hope that helps. :)
thanks for sharing I enjoyed watching this especially because I have started east Asian calligraphy classes. I also use mine for watercolour painting. if you want a thin line use the very tip of the brush.
Does anyone know any waterproof inking methods that are cheap/for beginners?? Most of my bigger pieces are done in either cheap alcohol markers or watercolour and I'd love to use something other than a Wilkos fineliner for a change XD
The yellow one is a kurotake. Personally they are my favorite brush/ink markers, they are copic-proof and personally I prefer having a stiffer brush because it's easier to control ; A ;
+Jellie Bee You are a great artist and I love watching your clips! I have a question, Do you think those Chinese brushes would work with watercolour or are they ink only? I have seen people use those kind of brushes for watercolour but have been unable to find where to get them and was not sure if they are the same kind of brushes. If you don't know then that if perfectly fine >//
I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use it for watercolor. It's a round brush that holds lots of water - so it's exactly what you'd want for watercolors. :)
+Ramo That makes sense, I think I will try to get some then :) I feel like my smaller brushes I have at the moment are hard to do big areas, so I always tend to make small paintings instead of using my bigger paper which is fine but I want to try bigger >//
Please, share what you do with these interesting supplies. I bought a few inks to try. They make great backgrounds. When you find the time could you share some tips and your favorite things to do with them? We would love to see :)
Hey I just have a question how does the alcohol in the Copics not get mixed with the ink in your brush pen. And is the pen filled with Indian ink ? Thanks and I am a huge fan of your work.
Yeeeah the W&N white ink does that. It looks nasty :D also you have caused an addiction to Diamine inks. Now that I know there's something good out there that is waaaay cheaper than W&N I really want all of them D:
+Opalmai I've not done one so far as there's an ongoing health issue I'm trying to sort out in my life, so when that's over and done with I might feel like doing one :>
jellie thanks for the syringe warning, syringes make jasper squirmish WHAT NO THEY DONT yes they do QUIET I DONT WANT JELLIE-SENPAI TO KNOW 'Jellie-senpai' huh someone has a crush UH WHAT UM NO DEFINITELY NOT *INTENSE BLUSHING* ooooooh you like her NO, SHUT UP LAPIS
you're really so thoughtful and sweet for warning people about the syringes, a lot of people wouldn't have thought to do that.
I thought that too
I know! I have a friend thats terrified of needles
That's so nice of her!
Yeah. I have a friend that's horrified of needles and can't even see needles. He's OK with syringes tho.
thank you for the warning about syringes! it is so considerate of you to include that! i really appreciate it! :)
+Gretchen Biemann Aww it's no problem!
You're so thoughtful for putting up a trigger warning :)
+ Jellie Bee today I got a pental color brush in black and 4 prisma color makers and 2 copics and I was really happy because these are my first expensive art supplies.
Have fun creating. I love the Pentel brush pen.
Awesome!! But beware, once you buy a few copics, you'll want to buy more and more!! Haha that's what happened to me. Have fun!
Andrea Smith thx
Lucy Niemann thx
+kitty cookiess msp they are sooo worth it I only have about 10 of them but I love them so much aha
Fun fact. That particular type of brush is called a rigger because they were used for painting the rigging on ships, which needed lots of thin, tiny lines. :D
As a seamstress who is also a hoarder of much stuff relating to sewing, the really useful boxes are a dream come true. Especially when stacking and organising them! :D
+Pear Shaped Brit THEY ARE hggn dat stacking
I really want to get in to dipping pens!
+Crafty Chick you should! i recommend it because it saves you a lot of money and you have a ton of control over your lines
If you are really eager to buy but don't have that much money you buy the holder and nibs separately but I'll recommend the sets becomes you get more nine for less money.. Just save some and buy them.. They feel really great..
I absolutely adore Really Useful boxes! I use them for everything. Winsor and Newton inks are some of my favourite inks - the boxes are super cute!
I have those dipping pens!!! They really give a nice stroke to Japanese calligraphy! I mostly draw cherry blossom trees and make a kanji next to it
When jellie mentioned the wolf hair my heart skipped a beat I was that shocked!
The sneeze at the end was soooo cute!!
I love using Sumi ink with brush pens. I have an ink converter and use it with my kuretake no 8 brush pen
friendly reminder that japan =/= china
love your art so so so much btw!!
Tonnes of respect for that warning, love the videos Jellie bee x :))
+Ezz Robinson Aww thanks!!
A tip you could use for you told ink is to put cling film under the lid so if some ink got to the threads it will not stick the lid and bottle together, and at the same time you save money. :) i hope this helped some people
Oo, I've always wanted to into Sumi-e, but haven't yet. I can't wait to see how that goes for you and hear about it compares to watercolour.
You are amazing! And so many times you videos inspire me to draw and kinda get out of that artist block!
I always called those long thin brushes, lettering brushes (mostly because that's what my mother used them for). I loved this. I love seeing other people's art supplies.
+Autymn Maas Yeah, liners or riggers (I don't like that name but its common on the brushes here)
+Autymn Maas whoops sent too early, but yeah lettering brush is a nice name too! Thanks :>
+Jellie Bee it's just what I've always heard them called. :)
You're so good to include warnings about syringes and needles. You're so thoughtful to your viewers :)
Also ahhh looking at all of these really makes me want to buy more inking supplies... though I really shouldn't right now... and cute sneeze at the end :P
+Monster Maker Aww thank you ;u;
Riggers are called that bc they were 4 painting the riggings on ships bitd
I look forward to following your progress with sumi-e.
it is so nice of you to warn people about the serynges! and i love your collection and the idea to refill your brushmarker... i will do that too now. i thought about it in the past but i wasnt sure if it would be to messy or not so i havent done it jet. so thank you for helping reduce the amount of plastic use!^^

Have you tried the slightly larger Winsor and Newton inks?
They don't have the cute little boxes, but its really opaque and it was only a little bit more here in my local shop, maybe 10 or 20 pence at most.
that water brush with ink you can clean it with warm water so the ink melts but its just incase if you did not know😃
have you heard of goulet pens? they have a ton of sample ink colors that seem like a good deal! I've been thinking of getting them myself but I thought I'd suggest it as an art supply video that might be interesting c: you could even make an art challenge out of it using all the colors in the sample 😄
Oh this was very interesting to watch! Interesting art supplies! Thank you for the video!
+Saviroosje2 You're welcome!~
I want to get into more ink art, i love seeing what you are experimenting with.
And yes i was the one that got you the mechanical pencil ^_^
Lovely video Jellie! Btw the black ink is Chinese, bc there's no hiragana, that symbol u thought was け was not because the first line was split into two it looked a bit like: 'it' not 'け'
"Wow..looks amazing.." //throws off to the side XD

Jellie do you know if the Yidege ink is waterproof? :)

+Andrea Smith My work for the YTAC will use these! Video should be up next Friday :)
I think you can actually get really tiny Chinese brushes, way smaller than the thinnest one you have
Hey I just have a question how does the alcohol in the Copics not get mixed with the ink in your brush pen. And is the pen filled with Indian ink ? Thanks and I am a huge fan of your work.
+Justin Hatcher Only if the ink is still wet, but generally, not at all.
+Jellie Bee alright thanks for the info lol the last thing I wanna do is kill a copic lol. Thanks again
Oh my goodness! You've grown so much! I remember seeing your channel when you had 100 subs!! congrats :DD

you should try out the fabar castel brush pen! i got it for Christmas. its my first and i really like it.
+Qtea The Swag The PITT brush pens? I have a few :)
No, it came in a set with 3 normal inking pens. It isn't the most professional of brush pens, but it's nice.
I want inks so bad but I need to get use to watercolor first
I like the Really Useful Boxes as well... I have loads of them! :)
this was a great vid omg... but i must admit that i REALLY LOve the outtakes i'd probably watch a video that was just outtakes if you made one lmao
+Kid Hahaha theyre my fave part
Can you do a watercolor video too?
You mentioned a book while you were talking about your Japanese brushes, could you tell me the title of it? (:
+Jessica Vampice
Japanese Ink Painting: The Art of Sumi-eb by Naomi Okamoto :)
Thank you very much! (:

+pixelartlinda Mwahaha, yes, spreading the Diamine ink love!
Hi Jelliebee ^-^ ima big fan of you and your artwork. I had an idea that you (in the near future) could do some kinda 'draw my life' thing :D
+Opalmai I've not done one so far as there's an ongoing health issue I'm trying to sort out in my life, so when that's over and done with I might feel like doing one :>
+Jellie Bee im sorry i had no idea.. But thankyou for responding to my comment! Thats really nice of you ^-^
Love the Bolin sticker 😜
You should do the 10 marker challenge with your copics
+Mia Lynch Sometimes I don't use that many colours anyway, so it wouldn't be too much of a challenge!
First, and I love you!!
