Your channel brings me so much joy. I’m 57, and my teeth are very bad, forcing me to wear a mask out of embarrassment. I try to find things that cheer me up, and your channel is at the top by if my list.
I love that “quiet” time with them along with the beautiful nature sounds, I felt like all my worries just disappears while looking at this cute beauty. Thank you for that ❤ I’d love a whole 15 min if that video by itself, I’d watch it so much
You are a terrific ambassador for your animals, Sammie & a food teacher. If I ever make it back down to Florida again I’m definitely going to spend some time at Single Vision.
Sammie so glad to see you talking more and educating!! I am figuring out a time to come see you all!! I like the new intro too!! They are beautiful cubs and those mittens are already big!! Thank you for doing what you do ❤
I wonder how long it takes for them to get acclimated to the new setting and sounds. I can only imagine what they're thinking with some of the sounds they hear/things they see
Those cubs are sooooo gorgeous! I love seeing the beginnings of his mane…so cute! I know they’ll be loving on you in no time at all, just like Timba, Tank and all the other beauties there. They saying being envious is bad, but I have to admit I am! 🩷, Virginia
Thank you so so much for taking so much good care of my babies, lots of love to you, I want to hug them and play with them and give them 10000000000 love. Yes, I'm definitely considering coming to visit you guys at Single Vision.
I enjoyed hanging out with you and those beautiful cubs. I'd really like to visit you, but Florida is a long way from Brisbane Australia, so I guess I'll have to make do continuing to enjoy your channel. Say g'day to Tank.
So you guys domesticate the animals you rescue? I love the human and big animal interactions similar to the ones we see in small animals. SO amazing on a larger scale. Lions are a true beauty and just so precious.
The loveliest of journeys :) few hoomin folk in history could say they had the honor of doing that. Maybe only a handful, at present time. And I have no doubt that all the effort pay off to save a great many of these beauties, and the ecosystem they are a part of.
It sounds like fun hanging out with big cats all day😽. On a more serious note, it's good people like you are providing a safe harbor for these magnificent creatures.
Holy cow, now there's a channel ident! We were here for Version 1.0... 6:17 I wonder what was going through his mind?..."Who ever is she talking to? Lemme have a nibble on her, one time - figure this out...."
I honestly don't know how you do it. I would have no clue how to interact with such awesome and powerful predators. You have a unique and God-given talent and I absolutely love these videos
Could you gain their trust and bond closrly if they were adults? I have the impression (may be wrong) that you have such beautiful relationship with all the big cats because they knew you when they were little
The key thing(s) to gaining a lion's trust is simple be careful, stay calm, and don't do anything stupid like show any fear or turn your back on a lion.
One thing I’ve always wondered, Sammie: Lions are more sexually dimorphic (both in size & appearance) than other big cats. Do you think this might be related to the fact that Lions are unusually social for big cats & have more defined roles? With most cats (big & small) male cats are slightly larger than females but that’s usually about it. Greater socialization results in greater specialization-That’s my theory at least. Am I onto something or just full of it? 🙂
Update: I found a study in 2012 that shows the claim that Jaguars bite at 1500psi. Looks like you guys were right all along. The only thing with this study that it prioritises the pressure of the carnassial notch with the use of kg instead. And BFQ or Bite Force Quotient were also measured. And yes! Accoridng to this, Tigers have the strongest bites! This is the source of that "1500psi" bite. Total bite force results. It's in kg so I converted it to psi for our American fans. A 2012 Study from Dr. Hartman-Rose from the American Association of Anatomy (NCBI) has some data regarding Cat Bite Forces: Bodyweight-Species-Canine-P3-Carnassial notch 17kg-Caracal-171-189-222psi 14kg-Serval-150-170-200psi 12kg-Ocelot-161-184-224psi 15kg-Bobcat-113-130-155psi 24kg-Clouded Leopard-240-293-355psi 100kg-Jaguar-1108-1335-1553psi 34kg-Leopard-366-420-499psi 38kg-Snow Leopard-327-379-452psi 200kg-Tiger-1548-1790-2002psi Unfortunately, no Lion example has been found. But no worries, Lion fans! This study is also based on BFQ's (Bite Force Quotients). Since we know the Lion's score (112) compared to a Tiger (127). I can make an estimation of the Lion's results based on the Tiger. Just in case the link was deleted, it's from a 2012 study from the anatomypubs onlinelibrary website. There's a reference from the Jaguar Wikipedia page if you can't find it. Here's the Lion results 1st one's on psi and the 2nd on kg: Species-Canine-P3-Carnassial notch 200kg-Lion-1367-1581-1768psi Reminders that this study is based on estimations from skull sizes and musculature of said cat heads. No animals were actually tested for their bites. So, I'm assuming that real results would be at least a bit lower than this.
Sorry for aounding like a broken record! But I couldn't move on past the misinformation regarding your polls that Jags are the strongest biters among big cats, when in fact Lions and Tigers surpass them. In fair to the Jag, they're almost close to the Tiger's/Lion's bite despite being smaller. The whole point of the post is to educate your viewers.
@@mstr293I’m not sure about that. If you got a really large lion or tiger that would probably be true. A really big adult male jaguar is about the size of a lioness-Possibly part of the reason why Tank & Binta are so well matched. 🙂 It’s not just the raw crunching power, either, but the Jaguar’s neck strength that makes them such effective hunters. They like to cache prey items in trees where other large predators can’t get at them. Same with Leopards, although they’re slightly smaller than Jaguars.
@@grahamstrouse1165This is the source of that "1500psi" bite, mind you! If you doubt this study, you have to doubt that "1500psi" claim altogether! There is never an earlier study that made the claim. Whatever "musculature" Jags have over Lions and Tigers is still nullified by the fact that Lions and Tigers are far larger than Jags. Bot to mention, the bigger/wider skulls + wider gape that allows a wider range of motion to generate more power. Of course, I'm not looking down on Jaguars! Being able to bite at 80-90% a Tiger and Lion's bite despite only being half their size is a very impressive feat! This post is to refute the claim that Jaguars bite is stronger overall! I also have my problems with this studies, but this is where the "1500psi" claim come from. The "1000psi" Lion and Tiger bite came from NatGeo who most likely used a different metric. If they did Jaguars, I'm confident their scores would be around 800lbs.
@@grahamstrouse1165Also, of course they can catch and carry prey on trees! Lions and Tigers alone are already too big to do that. Especially if their preferred prey weight range are about 2-3x their size. You expect them to carry full-grown buffaloes on trees?
Hi Sammie, I love your channel! On these more informational videos there is a slight drop in audio volume whenever there's an edit. It's a bit distracting and takes away from your presentation. My best regards to Tank and his friends! :)
So you got them, when they where already a few months old if i understand correctly. This makes it harder to build a bond, i would imagine. Do you get the animals usually at a younger age or not?
Seeing his mane just starting I’m wondering - is Fedor gonna end up with a mohawk like Timba or does his particular breed of lion typically get the classic full mane? And if it’s particular to subspecies (or whatever the term is), is Timba’s mane typical for his or just a quirk of him in particular?
First off, which Missouri zoo did you get these amazing cubs from? St Louis or KC? I've watched a few episodes so far, and I love what I am seeing! Big kitties are my jam, as are conservation efforts. Even if I can't help financially right now, I can at least subscribe and watch the progress made. Give all the cats scritches behind the ears for us all! Thank you for what you do, Sammie!🙏😁
I love your channel. So entertaining and informative! Fedor snd Safari are gorgeous cubs! Bless your heart! You're like the Big Cat whisperer! Happy 4th of July! Take care😻💞
