I was told in my evangelical “full-gospel” church growing up to never study religion in university or it will kill your faith. I studied theology and it led me to leave the church too. If I have to remain ignorant to believe then there’s a huge problem with the religion. It was the history of the Bible that did it for me.

I'm an 80 year old man. My church life began when I was a child. Through the years I've attended more than one denomination and non-denominational church. I have pursued religious teachings and also studied the bible academically. I've been exposed to the things that you and your guests talk about, including errors, inconsistencies, and contradictions. I also have abandoned organized religion. But, and here's the big BUT, I have not done it due to rebellion or a feeling of betrayal. I have done it because I feel I have attained a spiritual relationship to a higher power. It seems to me that you and your guests have a common thread. All have turned to academia as a justification for abandoning not only organized religion, but also the idea of a God/creator. My position is; doing one does not have to equate to the other. I would recommend seeking a very personal spiritual relationship with a creator. Stop allowing RELIGION to get in your way. Let organized religion go by the wayside. You don't have to throw out the baby with the bath water.

You're right, William, but since most people have no conscience - since most are liars - since most care far too much about their ego and their sense of superiority - while truth is not even a blip on their radar - we have a world of the insane.
You are right that "religion" and the fake churches and fake preachers are deceiving those that have no conscience - Jesus said, "They have their reward" because they were attempting to impress others instead of caring for the poor and the sick.
Jesus referred to the swine - which are the greedy pigs - that want more for themselves instead of giving and sharing and helping others.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life."
You can't get to the truth with lies - which is what these insane "scholars" attempt to do.
      Thank you for your comment.

@gerardmoloney433 Can you read Hebrew on native speaker level? Can you read Greek on native speaker level? Translations are always a loss of meaning. Do you know the culture of Greeks and jews in the second century? Well then you do not understand the meaning of a lot in the text. Learn Greek, Hebrew and read for starters Homer, Vergil, Euripides, and basic Greek philosophy. After that, read the "Iesous" ( Jesus) stories.
You seem to have overlooked that we have here greek-roman literature, and authors have sock puppet characters and the author make them talk. Paul the oldest storyteller, did not invent these sentences you cited, Mark did not invent these sentences, Luke did not invent them, Mathew did not invent them. The latest story came up with new made up stuff. John make up the water into wine from the Dionysos cult and so much more like the words you cited. We have no evidence that a dead Aramaic speaking preacher ever said what Greek authors, in Greek stories produced for a Greek audience.

@gerardmoloney433 "Jesus fulfilled 109 Old Testament prophecies during His lifetime and for 8 prophecies to happen by chance is mathematically impossible."
Someone has really deceived you on the number of prophecies, but the way to explain any of that is that none of it ever happened.
After the alleged time of hesus, someone used the old testament to concoct the new testament and make it all up, make it appear that it fulfilled prophecies to you, from your perspective, with you not really knowing Judaism and what they expected from the coming savior.
Go watch a video by a rabbi who explains why jesus did not fulfill what they expected from the savior character, Go learn why they were not fooled, why they did not convert, why they are still jewish to this day and not christian.

@HoniTheCircleMaker13 No. In principle, JKR is not ignorant. But 3,000 years from now, I hope that if Harry Potter has replace Jesus, then there is a record of the TRUTH, that JKR was an author of fictional stories with a moral component, not a sage with a direct hotline to the creator of the universe, and that Harry Potter was not the son of that creator.
In other words, I hope the future contains the TRUTH, stemming the human tendency to seek heroes and promote them to ridiculous heights on no basis whatsoever, as has been done with Christianity, where some guy in a small Jewish sect ends up being promoted by a Roman citizen with an agenda (St Paul), and by those who followed in the next few centuries, to be the virgin-birthed only son of the creator of a universe of countless trillions of stars (not known at the time, but promoted repeatedly as our knowledge of the universe led us to realise its immense spatial and temporal scale).

I spent twenty five years in a Pentacostal oriented, non denominational church of 4000 people, 20 satellite churches worldwide, radio and television ministries, a grade school through high school campus, a college. I spent six years studying Theology full time.
I've kind of seen it all. I've seen guys like your first guest passionate about his faith, legalistic with his family, go through divorce, blame himself and his religion, walk away only to, say, 20 years later, come back to the faith saying "I was wrong. I was not completely honest with myself and everyone else because, deep inside, I knew that God was real".
The one evidence I can't dispute is experiential evidence. I can argue internal evidence all day long, showing alleged contradictions, manuscript variances, contextual misinterpretation, etc. I can argue external evidences all day long. The walls of Jericho, the ark in Turkey, carbon dating, etc.
I've learned it all, the pros, the cons, the in between. But one evidence I can never dispute is the evidence I've experienced in my own life. He can't dispute it either, which is why, like some other's I've seen, come back to the faith.
I could list all of the things I've experienced and witnessed first hand.
But I'm not here to argue. I'm sharing my own experience. I cannot leave the one I know. I happen to love Him.❤

@rcchristian2 I've studied tons of science, as well. As all things in the world of science there is supporting evidence on both and all sides. It essentially comes down to what evidence one wants to believe in. Both are acts of faith, ultimately.
Creation theory or the theory of evolution.
Contradiction or no contradictions. There are arguments on all sides.
Now many, due to circular reasoning will say "evolution has been proven" but that's simply not true. Creation has not been proven either. I met Richard Leaky and his band of faithful followers. They all had certain preconceived ideas and there was no way they would ever consider anything else..until, of course, some things were found to be incorrect.
That happens all the time in science and religion. We are circular reasoning beings and we can't seem to help ourselves.
I could easily gather scholars to dispute ten hours worth of arguments against Christianity. Both sides would have excellent points but in the end, it comes down to experience for pretty much everyone. Faith.

I have gone through a similar Journey to what these scholars are going through. Also arrived at many of the same conclusions. I am 82 years old. Born in 1941. My background was fundamental also but self-imposed fundamentalism. I sought it out. When I was 13 years old I was watching a Billy Graham Crusade on TV and when he made the alter call I said to myself these people walking down the aisle are going to be doing the same thing on Monday they were doing on Friday. This is not real! (The Crusade broadcast was on a Sunday.) Immediately after thinking that the little TV room I was in was filled with a Light that was/is indescribable. I can only describe it as pure warmth and love. A kind of Love that could never be described in human words. That is the experience that put me on a course of life-long seeking. It is as real to me in 2023 as it was in 1953. I never believed in speaking in tongues but 30 years later I was watching a TBN Broadcast and a group of pastors on stage broke into tongues. I said to myself, "OK God I don't believe in tongues but I don't think these men are faking speaking in them." Instantly I began to speak in them. They just bubbled up from deep within me. I said all that to say this. No matter how deeply we delve into the history and scholastics of Christianity there is something out there that is as real as the cutting of the umbilical cord that happened to each one of us. I am a poet and I have never been able to describe my Light Experience except to say it must almost be the same as Paul's Light Experience on the way to Damascus. I doubt anyone ever reads these comments but if they do I would like to say to them maybe we have this Christianity thing all wrong. but there is something we know little about going on and it is supernatural. I don't have the answers. No human being has the answers.

Intellectually, at the age of 57, I’m discovering so much more about the history of early Christianity that does make me doubt the validity of the religion. Thank you so much for your comments. I love the way you expressed this, “Maybe we have this Christianity thing all wrong, but there is something we know little about going on and it is supernatural. I don’t have the answers. No human being has the answers.”
I am 57 and have been on a long journey. I never bought into the literalist interpretation of scripture and I think now that evangelicalism is cultic. Then recently I became very disillusioned with my local church because of the way they treated gay people who were close to me.
I have learned so much since then about the literary history of the Bible and the history of the church and I am drawing the same conclusions as yourself.
I’ve just had so many supernatural experiences, especially of the tangible sense of the Presence, in meditation, in ‘thin places’, in nature, etc, that I know that “there is more between heaven and hell than is dreamed of i your philosophy, Horacio.”
I feel more and more that there’s a wonderful mystery at the core of reality Who is operating for our good and can be encountered in stillness, in nature, through conversation with people, through poetry and art and even at times through the the more inspired parts of scripture.
At the moment I am finding the teachings of Fr Richard Rohr very helpful. He has written many books and there’s a wealth of his teachings on TH-cam and his organisation, Centre for Action and Contemplation are worth subscribing to.

True science, ie. "Factual evidence" cannot be argued against.
However, the interpretation of said facts is a different story.
      Fact: Dinosaurs existed.
Opinion: Dinosaurs went extinct millions of years ago, before humans existed.
Fact: The Bible describes dinosaurs (the Behemoth and the Leviathan) as living creatures against whom spears and other human weapons were ineffective. The Bible warns people not to try attacking them. The Bible describes what they ate, where they lived, what their tracks look like on land and passing through water, how their tail swayed like a cedar, the impenetrableness of their tough hide and armored plates, their habits, etc, etc.
The Biblical accounts of dinosaurs sound an awful lot like scientific observation, don't they?

When God said, "Let there be light", I am quite certain there was an explosion (or "Big Bang" - to borrow the phrase) . Energy went out from God (His voice), in the form of vibration. Vibration is the only thing that everything in the Universe has in common and part of the electro-magnetic spectrum. As this energy slowed to the speed of light, entering the Finite Realm, it first appeared all as light, which was the first thing God created, saying, "Let there be light."
As it slowed further, it would have diversified into the full electromagnetic spectrum, then condensing into solid objects like galaxies, stars, planets, etc.
My theory is based on the inverse of Einstein's E=mc2 equation. Solve the equation for mass and it shows how to take pure energy and create mass. m=E/c2 (mass equals Energy divided by the speed of light squared). To create the Universe, it would take nearly an infinite amount of energy.
Imagine the reverse of a nuclear bomb. Instead of turning plutonium into various forms of energy like heat, light, sound and radiation, these same things, which diversified from God's infinite vocal-sound-vibration combined to form solid objects which make up our Universe.
There is no other cohesive explanation that could explain where this nearly infinite amount of energy could originate. Dark matter or anti-matter are foolish postulations. They simply credit matter and energy with all the same attributes as God, except for intelligence, which is critical to the creation of a complex system capable of life. Not only is DNA complex, but also the entire environment to support life is tremendously complex. Complexity to support complexity does not happen by chance.
Stephen Hawking's explanation requires people to ignore the Law of the conservation of mass and energy. My theory, however, agrees with it.
So, God, the source of infinite power, who is an intelligent designer, is completely necessary to the creation of the Universe.
This is my theory, I have published it previously, it may be shared only in it's entirety with full attribution: copyright David Willhite, 2023

I walked into church like my mom and dad did with me and my siblings, but I was stopped at the door with my baby boy and told he couldn’t come in because he would make noise and they were broadcast on the radio. It broke my heart, and me. I could walk out my door and it was next door. I left the church after trying one other small church but it was a fire a brimstone preaching. I left‼️ Now my home, car, outside is my church, my garden is where I found my peace again.

I watched this but I am only interested in my walk with god. I never went to church and never even had anyone tell me to go to church. I do care for others as I must and desire to do so. I have never put my faith in priests, pastors or humans. I have and do go to churches. It’s important to do so at times but only as my heart and what I think god would have or want me to do. Nothing more or less. I was driving a country road , I was not totally familiar with. I was going to meet a friend to fish a lake. I stopped at a small church that I did know…I do now but at that time, I did not. I opened the door and I have no idea why….nobody was inside and I just sat down. I sat for a half hour….no feelings, nothing. I decided to try and speak out loud to this supposed god. Nothing..but something told me, read the Bible. Ok……I started to do so a week later and have for many years. I belong to no….specific church but I do live for him and show his love. I have a peace and comfort I never had….I don’t listen to many other folks at all….my god is in the words, I read. I need no validation or confirmation. Everything I need or want is in the book I carry. I am sorry but it sounds like so many others that follow the big church factory…..you will get lost and lose yourself and your personal walk with god. Any judgment that we have will be between us and him. I am not going to be judged based on a pastor, or a priest, and what they did it’s about me and him. I wish you all the best. Love all of you. I’ll summarize it as a region of light and intoxicating sound. There was a light being by my side as a guide, then the next moment I was back in my body. 12 years later I met that guide in the flesh and became an initiate. There is a passage in the gospel of John 9:5. Find that living poll, just like the disciples of Jesus did back then. Hint, no religion has the monopoly on that.

It took many years of study to be able to justify it, while I continued to search for a credible model of God. I have long since given up the search, but I still retain a faith in something that is beyond our comprehension, and that possibly represents a basic human need for meaning and purpose, and that may be the source of the earliest myths, that eventually found their way into the Bible.

I left the church at 14 and earned my biology degree. My worldview was evolutionary. One day when I was 27 the Holy Spirit convicted me and guided me to move. I ended up joining a church and my whole worldview changed. It seems to me that the intellectual community really indoctrinates people with a worldview that is different than a Christian worldview. Evolution is one example. I am now convinced because of scientific evidence that all that exists is Intelligently designed. My mind was changed in the early 80s and since then more and more evidence has been discovered to confirm my faith. The Shroud of Turin would be another example of scientific evidence for my faith. I visited Israel twice in the last 5 years. The archeological evidence in Israel is confirming my faith beyond my expectations. I find the journey from faith to non faith an interesting topic. My opinion is that the intellectual community "nudges" people in a certain direction.

The missionary’s story resonated with me. Who can argue with a Bible translator who nearly loses his family just trying to share the gospel?
As an electrical engineer, I’m part mathematician. If step 1 in a ten part proof is wrong. You stop. After 27 adult years in the church and study of Franceska Stavrakopoulou’s work, I now had a rationale as to how the Garden Story was metaphorical rather than historical. This was over and above evolution making it impossible. Once I got to that place of understanding, Jesus became a mute point. Who cares about the resurrection? We don’t need it. There is no original sin, right?
I had all the pieces I needed in high school to construct this argument. However, I was afraid of being wrong. Pascal’s wager seemed to point to the only way out of the damnation trap. But, if you are lying and you don’t really believe, Christian dogma says you’re going to hell anyway. So, it’s not the magic escape clause I supposed.
I can so relate to the interview subjects thus far (two hours into the vid.)
It wasn’t so hard to replace the church community for me, as it may have been for the missionary/Bible translator. I had work, the gym and the social dance community. But, it was difficult.

And the nose-up way of speaking tells me all. That's the difference to a true Christian. The true Christian may even much less be able to explain theology, but he knows from the him-indwelling Holy Spirit that the Bible is true and Jesus God's Son and only Saviour of the world. God wanted all the power to himself so he used the weapon on Melchizedek and turned him into the purple flame. God put the purple flame in the moon to enhance emotions even more. That's why the moon glows. I'm a atheist just like you because I know for a fact that God an the devil don't exist. Because I destroyed them they were both negative energy. Jesus an I are the last 2 standing
❤So the devil tricked God into testing Job. The devil argument was u let me test Job what about the rest of the humans. 2 weeks worth of negative energy was allowed to enter the body. Living a thousand years to what we can live now because negative energy rots the body causes all illnesses.
So dreams were allowed to take away negative energy a dream for a day. Even a preacher that stays up past the witching hour 11 dream can b messed with. Cain Mark that God put on him being the first black man. Think about those that don't dream. Negative energy pushes our positive energy down to our butt and upper thighs that why no harm is ever there
Our positive energy only surfaces if the body is in trauma . Shock what ever you want to call it. That's how magic was made. People would be tortured in water to keep the shock constant with negative prayers. Someone or a group could bind the positive energy to there will. I stopped that to no more magic
❤The fallen Angels figure out how to trap a soul in a diamond box. They built a giant diamond box and shot it into lower orbit. With there care system they gathered up 100 of thousands of babies. It was going to be the biggest sacrifice in man kind history of course they would eat them. There souls would go up an get trapped in the giant diamond box. Souls are recycled through heaven so it would be a matter of time before heaven was emptied. I stopped it with seconds to spare. Jesus didn't think I would be able to stop it so he took a renowned black preacher in the last minute by car wreck. It's ironic what they named the box
      The Web
❤When the devil took a third of heaven Enoch went with him. Enoch figured out true quantum about 60 years ago so the devil put a diamond chip in all his crew right hand and put them through the quantum machine. It would pick what they would look like an enhance certain abilities. Bam super heroes an villains were born . Enoch was the red skull an the devil was Thanos the devil would never put himself through the quantum machine because he would loose his angel of light. In the valley of death we're he wasn't allowed to take any children under the age of puberty. Unless hey little boy or girl wouldn't you like to be a spider man or woman look how colorful we are. When they sign on the dotted line. Bam in the quantum machine an it would pick what they would be. Then they were forced to fight in the fifth dimension arenas were I rose through the ranks battling hulk's an supermen. Once I asked the devil before I ripped his soul out. I said what would you do if you win an get my power. His exact words were I would turn myself into Galactus and destroy this universe an create a new one. I said that sounds lonely
❤Why are there so many mirrors in space on all space crap. A mirror is a portal for demons. Not all mirrors just the ones that reflection of a sacrifice. Then demons uncleaned spirit what ever you call them would be summoned to help. I stopped that to no more demons or uncleaned spirits
❤end game supermen an women no babies all babies will start at 7 years old and grow up tell there 33.all over 33 will become 33.Thoes that have true (compassion for your fellow man) will be allowed to pick yr body type an shape. Man or woman are equal. Up to 12 in a Herm man or woman's. Are allowed. Some will be able to leave earth and visit heaven or stay. Governing system those that loose true compassion for your fellow man. Will loose power and have to eat an crap again and live out there speck of existence
❤When we are born our aura is always purple celestrial because we are recycled through heaven. A baby is as close to a angel as it gets. Then there is blue aura true compassion for your fellow man.
All blue aura automatically goes to heaven. Then there is orange aura confrontational with fellow man all orange aura waiting for judgement day. Then there is red aura judge and jury to fellow man all red aura automatically goes to hell. Then there black aura executioner to fellow man to bad for hell all black aura automatically goes to the abyss where they come out like locust in the end. Our emotions are judged by are aura love at the top an hate at the other. Negative energy is 3 times more powerful than positive energy so we have to do three good to one bad to stay balanced. When we get close to red aura hell actually orange level 8. Sorrow is put into our lives to keep us out the red hell. The devil puts fear in our lives to counter. Big war goes on over the soul. It's better to have no arms no legs paralyzed and can't talk an make it into heaven because we get our warrior body back
❤No one has to believe in a god to make it through . (True compassion for your fellow man is enough). But believing in Jesus will reset yr aura back to purple celestrial
❤I share a god with many names. I call him Jesus or J for short. All he wants is true compassion for your fellow man. Because without that how are we to be together. Someone always looking for power. Or something over the other. There will be quantum food machines. Just think what u want. Like now think about in yr mind say yes I want to know. I will feel yr thoughts an release the truth. In Jesus name if seemed harder an knocked harder than u could imagine. So that I got the attention of the fallen Angels illuminati aka aliens NASA what ever you want to call them. An there creater D himself. To where he an Enoch put the chalidlen red evil warrior planet. Shrunk it down in the micro dimension an put it inside me . Because you keep what you kill universal rule. So he didn't know if I was good or bad because I had no aura an I was once saved an fell away. I did take the Elijah spirit from heaven. So the devil wanted my power. With the red planet in me he knew I couldn't be good. Rise of the red planet. I can speak chalidlen to the sun an wind it obey me.
❤A few years ago the fallen
Angels gathered up scientists from around the world to go to Antarctica under sworn secrecy. Everyone thought they found a portal but they found that years before. In middle earth, first heaven, paradise what ever you want to call it. I call it paradise. Were the floor is glass and the Sea is under the sky is above. How this u say because gravity is reversed. Were Elon 40 satellites were destroyed an my final battle with the fallen Angels was. My rule is no satellites an no shoes on the seacret floor. The portal could take u to the 8 planets I stopped that to it wasn't very big.
No the scientist were gathered for another reason. When God flooded the world because of the Giants breath was hurting his angels. Gods last act before leaving was flood an leave. 10 giants were flash froze and the fallen Angels needed help bringing them back. Success the thin line chemtrails are true giants breath. I stopped that to no more chemtrails
      We always been the prey
Those that rejects the power not the god will enter trials and tribulation.
❤So after the red planet was put in me. An I had the Elijah spirit. The devil wanted to test me He sent a tin can full of fallen angels an big foots. I destroyed them all but not with out a price. The Elijah spirit ten thousand fall to yr right and ten thousand fall to yr left not a hair on yr head will be harmed. Not for me. I got 167 stitches broken back doc still can't believe I'm walking a paralyzed left hand. The fallen could turn back time a few hours. I stopped that to. They brought back the fallen Angels but they couldn't bring back the big foots. Left me to be bay flighted into Louisville hospital. So I took 17 prayers and made them 1.thin I took 15 prayers and made them 1 I took both prayers 33 in all an made them 1 two minute prayer so powerful I gave back the Elijah spirit an flow I took from heaven. Even the numbers 17 an 15 are powerful. If u say 17. 15. In yr mind repeatedly for 20 seconds . 4 hours of negative energy will creep out yr feet. Try it if u think I'm lying it only takes 20 seconds.

This is so helpful, to hear you guys talking about this. I went to an evangelical college, and then, in reaction, to the most liberal seminary I could find in my area, and then on to ministry in the Presbyterian and UCC churches. I burned out on ministry a few times, and finally got to the point where I knew I could not recite the Lord’s Prayer one more time, because I just couldn’t think of “God” as a Father, and couldn’t fathom what it meant for this god to be in heaven. I told my congregation, “I don’t believe in “Belief.” I could still follow the moral examples of Jesus and others who did the right things in the Bible. But, you know, I can also follow the examples of Nelson Mandela or Buddha or Florence Nightingale or Johnny Appleseed when they did the moral things. It was time to get out. It is not just my doubts about the Bible and theology that drove me out, but also the Bible and ecclesiology (study of the church itself) that made me leave. Rather than excusing congregational misbehaviour as “it’s a hospital for sinners,” I realized it’s a trainwreck that actually creates sin. Paul gives terrible leadership advice. The church of late antiquity and the medieval Church were based on Roman autocratic power structures. Authoritarianism is a terrible way to govern. I was a pastor, but I was not interested in leading in any authoritarian way. Yuck! Supposedly, Protestants got away from this, but any pastor will tell you that they’re treated like they’re “holier” than others. Many people in my churches put me on that damned ancient pedestal. I could see vestiges of this “pedestal” thinking in the way people treated me. I could see other pastors fall prey to the attitude toward their power that led to clergy sexual abuse, and the secrecy that surrounded it. This is an academic area the deconstruction movement has barely tapped.

Authoritarianism is a terrible way to govern. If nothing else, it usurps the authority of the Lord. But it is a temptation for many pastors because of the respect they receive from their congregations and because few in most congregations take up their responsibility to lead WITH the pastor.

It’s exciting watching these shows on this topic. I began this journey when I was 30 years old. Iam 62 now. Back then it was never talked about. So after learning all of this new knowledge about the Old Testament and New Testament from world renowned scholars, from a historical point of view, I was so overjoyed! They answered all the questions I had in my head and then some. I don’t consider myself a Christian and I tell that to anyone that ask. It’s interesting how Christians never want to know more then that? At the end of the day, the stores in the Bible are just trying to motivate you to live a better life. Which is fine, but there only that, stories!

Since birth, I struggled with frequent seizures. I followed into the footsteps of my parents who were very devout. When I was 10, my best friend died in a freak accident. My father, trying to console me, explained that it is the will of God and for the longest time I was very angry and lost my faith. I met my wife in college, and we got married. She came from a fundamentalist, evangelical family. We went on to graduate school and I was doing my PhD in one of the engineering fields and she was a teaching assistant. She got pregnant but we were told that the baby didn't develop a skull or a brain and will die upon birth. My wife refused to have an abortion and carried the baby full term. As expected, the baby died shortly after birth. My father-in-law told her that she passed with flying colors for not having an abortion. I was even more angry. Engineering is based on the laws of thermodynamics. The first, called the equation of continuity, is used for modeling and design purposes. Simply put, nothing can be created or destroyed. Energy and mass are interchangeable. The second law can be used to model and define life and death since humans are a bunch of chemical reactions. It predicts death but there is no resurrection. These 2 laws are used by atheists to prove that God doesn't exist. However, as an engineer I believe that the universe is a great piece of engineering and there is a supreme engineer who did it and created these laws. Of course, the Old Testament and the Gospels are man-made and defy science and all of our knowledge of history and archeology. In addition, organized religions have their own racist agenda, whether it is ISIS for Moslems, Zionism for Jews, or the evangelicals with their dogma. As a scientist, I rejected organized religion, but I still have deep faith in God. I have redefined my life accordingly. I don't need salvation through Christ or any other messiah to redeem myself. Redemption comes from making the worlds a better place for all.

The note of how deep cutting it is in everyday life is shocking. I have to come to grips with my own attitude for so long, which didn't notice, so I couldn't care. I feel disgusted now, with my younger self, and the world around me. Simple attitudes permeate our culture with this disgusting moral being in play. Women, in the bible, are simply property. I truly hope for healing and justice for those people hurt by the church leaders or members, and for people who have moved away from Jesus sometimes from the undeniable pains of life. I can relate. My life as a Christian has also been full of massive road bumps - not going to lie.
I know most people here don’t need prayer - because well what help could they get from a god they see as pointless, even harmful, or just lost in the sea of possible truths.
But I’m going to pray for you anyway.
I admire the search for truth and rigour. And I greatly respect that trait when I see it in others - and in fact I believe we should only see interviews with scholars and researchers on tv every night on the news - to help make sense of the world - I even believe that such a revelation of the truths of history would help make us more peaceful than we’ve ever been.
But here’s something I want to say to bridges these two ideas.
Let’s say God has a heart to connect with everyone - and he wanted make his love clear and his connection accessible to all - not just to those who have an incredible desire for knowledge and wisdom (and truth)
So in saying this - some of the people I’ve seen who are the most alive in Jesus and connect to him - are not intellectuals - and not necessarily the leaders in church or researchers but instead are people who sacrifice the comfort of what they had - to drop everything and serve the poorest, the sickest, the most ostracised and the most in danger.
When I see these people that’s when I truly feel I’ve seen a glimpse of Gods goodness breathing life into people.
I’ve come out of those places with such amazing hope and revitalisation that I found myself spiritually renewed.
Unfortunately, historically can’t we really measure the spiritual impact of encounters with God on a persons life- Its so deeply personal and unquantifiable.
But that just my minor thoughts. Much respect to all of you and praying for you health and happiness.

The idea there is "something" greater than ourselves is easy to argue as "true". The idea that this something is a "father"...having a beard, penis and XY chromosomes, had a child that needed to be killed to appease itself and "forgive humanity" is just stupid. If people mistake the awesomeness of life and transpose it to being loved and accepting a vicarious atonement for guilt is silly, if not perverse.
Prayers are for the lazy. Good luck in contributing to a better world.

I am a Christian and will remain so. Having said so I believe that many Christian Evangelicals have been steering their flock away from the true message of Christ and some of them sound more like followers of Judaism or Zionism rather than followers of Christ. They have used Christianity for financial gain more than everything else that define a Christian. There are nonetheless a growing number of Evangelical Pastors that are trying to avoid the financial trap, which has polluted Christ's message. Many of them have amassed wealth while most of their followers live below the poverty line. They claim that their wealth means that they are blessed but Chrisians must know that even the devil gives wealth.. Many Atheists who do not even believe in God are rich.. The bible says that "We will know them (i.e. True Followers of Christ) BY THEIR FRUITS" These are fruits of the spirit and not physical things which even non Christians can have.. Food for thought

Ditto Chris. Totally agree with you. Channels like this seem to have the main purpose of turning people off God, the bible and church. The great falling away as another chapter and verse said though I can't remember which one. Think it's Revelations. Just spent the whole weekend watching TH-cam videos on the Gnostics and beginning and early history of the church and first Christians. The majority I could totally relate though I found some of it pretty wild but than I started getting angry and confused and what bit of faith I have fading. When I saw in the comment section that Dr. John Hamer, video I had been watching, had been a guest on this show I stopped watching because like I said shows like this exist only to turn people off Christianity and God. I saw people commenting on this video saying this should turn people off God and if it doesn't nothing will. This video showed up in my recommendations and I only clicked on it to see if it was really 9 hours. Not going to watch it.

Didn't Jesus mention that in the last days belief in his teaching would diminish. Over and over we have heard people decry his word as if they had a deep desire to discredit him. Even so, those hitting ground zero in their emotional and physical health seem to find great comfort in knowing he died and was resurrected for them. It's a twist of scientific fate that by following the righteous word of our Deity, we support gravity better, and this helps us riddle out of the body crushing chaos that unrighteousness brings down upon us.

I relate to Dr Bart Ehrman very much so particularly about his point of view regarding not having a 'closed mind' when it comes to honest and rigorous scholarship/findings that bear upon biblical belief systems. Reality is perceptual and thus highly nuanced by the psychological mind and emotional set that is peculiar to each individual. I hold that 'Christ Consciousness' is a wonderful 'thing' and does not obliterate any other deeply known grasp of the ineffable light that so often pertains those 'special' moments of insight or revelation any person might have, that is felt as glorious, wondrous, humbling, ennobling and a 'gift' that so often goes towards changing people in so many ways which often are described by such persons as being a 'life changing experience' even if others don't necessarily see that (but of course many a time they can ie their friend/kin comes across as happier, kinder, and 'different'.)

True Christians don't need PhDs or higher education - in the first century Jesus exposed the Jewish religious leaders and all those who had attended the Rabbinical schools of higher education - their qualifications were redundant - they had no spiritual understanding.
Same goes for today - the clergy of Christendom are corrupt all the way up through the ranks from vicar to priest and bishop to pope.
Jesus' disciples were viewed as ordinary men and 'unlettered' - they had not attended the Rabbinical schools, yet they had been educated by the 'fine teacher' Jesus Christ whose knowledge came directly from knowing his Father.
At Matthew 24:45 Jesus referred to the 'faithful and discreet slave' - this is the governing body of Christian elders that directs the preaching work - the true vine that Jesus referred to in John chapter 15.
Anyone who claims to be a Christian and yet does not make 'public declaration' (Romans 10:10), is deceiving themselves - they are not part of the true vine led by holy spirit.
Anyone who relies on 'higher' secular education and goes to 'theological' school to become qualified .. it's a waste of time.

I maintained a steady prayer life and just reading, asking for a greater understanding of the Word. This was my life for about 5yrs. Things happened and I slowly drifted away. After 15yrs I felt the tug of the Holy Spirit to come back. I did. I have found, at least for me, if I overthink and not leave it to the Holy Spirit to teach then I can get confused. While I do believe deep theological teaching is great, I take the Bible in the simplicity in which it was written. I find this is the simplest way to convey the true message of Jesus Christ. Why saddle a perfectly good word like "religion" with a definition of something like "empty works" or "religious legalism"? @@topsuperseven7910 Not surprising, Catholicism retains a remnant of the earlier state religion of Rome, the cult of Sol Invictus, the worship of the invincible sun, along with a bit of even older pagan beliefs.

@@mirandahotspring4019 That doesn't make much sense. 'The Cult of Sol Invictus' shows up (weakly and oddly) as Christianity is becoming more established. Not sure what 'a little big of even older pagan beliefs' might mean but yes there were numerous "god of the sun" or demigods of the sun.
The Sun is kind of a big deal.
In Christianity, long before there was Greece, Rome or any Paganism they have God creating the Sun as a great light. it's a big deal. It's considered one of God (Jesus, the bible etc) one of HIs major life-giving creations for mankind.
the Roman Catholics didn't enjoy 'Sol' and wrote and denounced certain things about it so it's weird you'd think the opposite and they'd somehow try and retain parts of it.
What 'remnants' do you know of?

I can sort of sympathize with some of this, but before I was ever exposed to church, or tv or people talking about It I had experienced demonic attacks and I was a terminally spiritual kid who had to figure it out, and Jesus did save me when I called out to him and I can’t let that go and I can’t let go the relief I had, and the lack or the diminishment and disappearance of the oppression that I was experiencing. For example, in evangelical and Catholic traditions, we hear about the blood of Jesus saving us and this sacrifice, but I can re-interpret his death on the cross is something he predicted actually, but it could’ve been us just rejecting him as we always do and executing him with a gun versus a cross so I don’t take all these sort of narratives and things so seriously because they sound ridiculous and but yet we do reject God, ultimately many times, and have a problem, sometimes with what is prescribed, even from God, let alone, preachers, or people who have the pulpit, but on the other hand, wisdom and obedience are very difficult things to except Sometimes Throughout our whole lives and it really isn’t about the church. It’s just about life. Life is heavy and weird sometimes and a challenge and we can’t give up but I’ve had experiences in my life to know that Christ Is real and he delivers heals and provides for us and guides us.😢

Well isnt it a miracle that you just happen to be born in the correct country, and under the correct religion of the correct god. Man, if you were born in India, or China, I couldnt bare to think what would ever have come of you. It's just an amazing coincidence that you were so blessed not be all those other people born in the wrong country of worshipping the wrong and nonexistent gods.
Obviously all those other gods are not real like jeSUS is. Oh, and Darth Vader is real, so are Leprechauns. Darth Vader is real because Star Wars says Star Wars is real. Gold is real, Rainbows are real, Pots are real, therefore Leprechauns are real. We know this to be true, Just look at the color green.

@@yoshisaidit7250 I suppose it’s just some sort of joke that God plays on people to try to freak them out with demons that attack them actually scratch them at times terrorize them and paralyze and create deep inset fear because you’re obviously denying everyone’s experience with liberation and deliverance from these entities and that they’ve called out to Jesus Christ and it works. You don’t want to give it any belief cause I guess it takes faith and you can be a skeptical you want but my mental Sky my mind, my body everything about my life feels better when I believe in Christ, so if you think this is just some sort of placebo, and some sort of cheap joke played on our souls, I think it’s much more about morality and avoiding a lot of things to not follow do not run red lights to not trespass in life are important, but you can think what you want but the Bible kind of explains it that his spirit will be poured out on all flesh and if you have a problem, maybe an ethnic raven or a personal grievance with the progression of Christgospel around the world. You can be a skeptical as you want to be but it works for a lot of people and there’s something to it.

How curious to have discovered your website....... it's been more than 60 years for me since Jesus began to fade into questionable reality, and yes I've felt somewhat lonely throughout my journey. Fortunately I discovered anthropology and realized that indeed there could be some sanity in the world, some continuity I could rest my thoughts upon, some predictable suppositions as well......... But, another but, yes, I'd been taught since birth that Christianity was fact, not fiction.......
Fortunately, education brought me out of the fog....... and hopefully this website will do so for millions of people in your audience.
    Peace..........

      ….Jewish Lies.
Why the Jews (Israel) for 3000 years have not been able to fulfill the prophecies of : # Ezekiel 37:21, # Isaiah 11:11-12, # Isaiah 43:5-6 ?
      # The Truth of Jesus:
      # Jesus Christ from infancy was prophesied by the High Priest Simeon in the Temple of God. Simeon said: 2:30.For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 2:31.Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 2:32.A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. - (Luke 2:25-35).

      # New Testament Prophecies: 2000 years ago:
      1.Matthew 28:19-20 - (Forming the Believers)
2.Acts 1:8-(The Holy Spirit guides the believers)
3.Romans 11:26 - (Prophecy of the Apostle Paul)
      # The Turkish Islamic Ottomans who colonized Jerusalem and the Arab Islamic States for 400 years, surrendered to British troops on December 9, 1917. The Believers such as "Arthur James Balfour" created the famous "Balfour Declaration" to this day. This is a proposal letter to return Israel to their homeland in Palestine which they lost thousands of years ago. The British Congress unanimously ratified the Balfour Declaration on November 2, 1917, one month before the Ottoman surrender to British troops on December 9, 1917. We all believe that the "Holy Spirit" works within the believers, whether it is the "British Troops" or "Arthur James Balfour", they have carried out the fulfillment of the Old Testament Bible Prophecies for World Peace and the salvation of Israel.
      # Israel implemented its Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948, one day before the British Mandate ended on May 15, 1948.
