In blender 2.92 the wall works as described. Everything else (window, stairs, roof ...) just produces a strange black screen with a type-in-field, that I cannot get rid of but by quitting blender.
This is sooo awesome just playing with it now in 2.8 only problem is that if I place something that has a submenu for choosing type, like roof, floor etc a black square pops up and there is nothing to choose. Hope they fix this soon love the add on!
To remove the black screen in 2.8 you first need to press the button "Render preset thumbs" in file -> user preferences -> Add-ons -> archipack -> Setup actions. Takes a few minutes and then you're good to go.
Nice tutorial, but you let out how to make the doors and windows snap to the wall. I'm having a hell of a time trying to place the doors and windows in a way that looks good. When I do get those in a wall, they get covered up by the wall, and a difference thing removes the whole wall, not just the overlapping part. Also, your video makes me question the stability of Achipack. So far, all but 1 of my blender crashes occurred while using this pack.
if i click to wall and want to make a floor i only get a black transparant window were i can write something down at the top, how can i not make doors windows ?

Im starting out with ver. 2.8 interface and while i can get the archipac toolset on right (N /properties side of screen, I have seen them pop up on the left side under the toolbars standard object toolset. I much prefer the left array but cant figure out how to secure the toolset to this left hand side in the blender 2.8 interface . Any ideas most welcome and thanks for your great tutorial, whether or not you have a solution for this hiccup !

However the free version is supposed to do the basics, my windows and doors get created in free space and it is difficult to place them on the wall and no auto hole is generated. I tried snap to face. Any one any suggestions ?

if you are planning on having interior walls with different materials then you should use 2 different walls. you can give each wall 2 different materials (and a "cut" material for when you have it cut by a Booleans)

If you use addon search, you can't edit it, so you have to through the list, find the addon, expand it, it'll look like there's no place to set the location of the presets, so you have to scroll down to the sections that look like totally different addons, and navigate to the preset library. It's in \scripts\addons\archipack\presets. Hopefully that helps. But it's a cluster love-making fest that's frustrating to do and then untangle.

You need to prerender them in the addon settings

whenever i pick door or window in archipack, an empty window opens. I think it is because I dont have any models saved in my addon? Idk

What about SNAP! That is what we do "tradicionally' all the time!
just make reference objects snap them to your walls etc and then snap windows or other stuff onto reference objects. lol
