Okay Dani Olmo is a luxury signing for us, we have plenty of great talent in midfield and he would be a surplus. This signing will have a feeling of deja vu, where we were heavily lacking in defense when Puyol retired but instead of finding or buying a replacement we ended up splashing money in positions we already had plenty players in. And this is now happening because we know we need a defensive midfielder and at this point it seems it's not even a priority. I know things can change over the course of the season but this move will either fail in spectacular fashion or it will work like a miracle but at this point of the club's development we don't need to leave things to chance, we need to sort the important positions first then go to the luxury signings if funds and Fairplay allow it.

When we look back at last season and the season past, we were able to create chances for our attacking players. What our biggest problem came to be was our defense had no cover especially when play transitioned upfront and we were hit on counters. We lost and drew more games because of lack of a pivot to cover and connect the defense and the midfield to the final attackers. That's why I am of the opinion that Olmo is a luxury signing for us not that he is a bad player.

Going for olmo seems like a good deal. We gonna play with double pivot so dejong , gundo , christensen , gavi , casado also pau prim and so on are settled for those spots.they can complementary each other. Olmo will be strated in number 10 and back up for both wingers and also backup for CM. With olmo , nico , lewa and lamine.. its something free flow of attacking football we are going to witness. Kimmich Is just a little bit better on defence than De Jong. Thus we can move on Olmo to cover the other aspect of the midfield.

I believe that Flick will look to that pivot position from within it looks like. If you guys are going after both Olmo and Nico, it may have changed to that, because maybe Flick has seen something from one of the pivots that have come from La Masia.
To answear your question, It depends on our system for the season, if Flick changes our formation and tactics, then yeah, we should wait and see if we really need a new CDM, but it is a great risk so the signings that will come, need to be the exact perfect signings for the positions that Flick wants to build our new first XI around.

If you look at Flick's Bayern team and use that same template here, I no longer think they're going for a Defensive Midfielder. In Flick Bayern, the two pivots weren't used to shield the back four, they were actually used as two Deep Lying Midfielders - they'd spray balls wherever needed. So using that logic 'd say he'd most likely use Frankie and Pedri as the two pivots because of their passing abilities and then build around them. Christensen and Bernal could step in and cover for them if need be.
Per the pivot role, I believe that the search has been abandoned. I strongly believe that Flick has taken a close look at Marc Casadó and is convinced he can mold him into the pivot he wants
We need proper CDM we needed it for almost 5 years. Olmo is a lexury signing we need a CDM more than a winger or attacking midfielder. We never seem to lack those kind of players in La Massia when ever we need them even mid season. I am a bit worried. On the left side, we have Ansu and Ferran. (Sometimes Vitor and Raphina). Bringing in Nico would add depth but who will accept to be on the bench? If we leave Vitor to go, there will be no natural center forward. Let's be careful with how we make our signings. I think Ansu should leave. Ferran will be on the bench with Nico being first choice LW.
I'd say buy Nico and Olmo, sell one of our weaker attackers while also unfortunately not brining back Félix. Buy Merino and try to sell Frenkie or Araujo. Zubi would be perfect, but he probably won't leave the club. If there is FFP margin left, I think Guillamon, Antonio Blanco or Turrientes are interesting CDMs who are still young for a cheap price.
If we keep Romeu, he might be the surprise package next season because those types of players (hard tackling, energetic and metronomic deep lying playmakers) do well under flick. Think back to the transformation of Goretzka.

Olmo would be another Countinho imo. It's the same "CAM" position in which both Coutinho and Olmo prosper. A position that doesn't really exist here at Barca
Pedri and Gavi are unknown assets atm due to their injuries. Selling Frenkie is not really possible because of his ongoing ankle injury. So, we have Fermin and Gunda who can be interiors. Gunda does not have the intensity needed. Olmo would be good there, but an expensive bench player once our young stars are healthy.

I don't like it. Like you said, if we have 60 million available to sign a player it should be on Zubimendi or added towards Nico and the rest to sign Merino. It's a bad idea simply because I highly doubt this us Flick's decision, I think this is Laporta and Deco who want Olmo because think about it, who's he gonna come in to replace? We have Pedri and when fit, he's the better player, he's not gonna replace Gavi and I still doubt Frenkie will leave.
IMO it's gonna be like a Bartomeu signing, a great player signed with no real plan. We don't need him, we need a player like Zubimendi.

Olmo will be strated in number 10 and back up for both wingers and also backup for CM.

Signing Olmo over Zubimendi would be a big mistake! I honestly don't understand why the board is so keen on him if we already have very good players that need to play in that position (pedri, fermín, gündogan). Especialy for that price! Zubimendi should be the priority

I don't think Hansi needs a Busquets type of anchoring defensive pivote. He didn't use one at Bayern. I think that's why they renewed Casado. Kimmich Is just a little bit better on defence than De Jong. So i think he will go with de jong and Gavi/Pedri/Caso in a double pivote and just focus on attacking attacking attacking like he did at Bayern

I am also shocked that we are going after Nico and Olmo. By the end of the previous season everyone knew that a pivot was top priority. Right now I would say we are losing focus by going after wants not needs (pivot). It’s for this reason why we will always be in financial difficulty

I think he is really impressed with Cassado and Bernal so he is thinking about one of them can be paired up with Frenkie and #10 is between Pedri/Olmo where Olmo can be a sub for Pedri/Nico/Yamal. Only this makes sense. They thought Ferran can be that guy and we all know how it ended up. My only concern is Gundo now with Olmo coming in.

I think flick has decided to not invest in CDM as he had huge confidence with the youth players to cover that role. I think this is the case otherwise why would we not invest in CDM, we have been crying for that role since 2 seasons ago

If the club can pull off the transfers of Nico and Olmo, then it means that perhaps some of the youngsters like Casado and Bernal have impressed Flick so much. Plus he said he wants Romeu to stay. We have our best 3 midfielders injured or recovering now though - De Jong, Gavi and Pedri. Maybe De Jong will be sold. But also Ferran and/or Raphinha as well.

With the way that Flick talks about La Masia, I wonder if he’s thinking of Marc Casado and Marc Bernal as the defensive midfielders. Both play those positions and are ready to be called up to the first team. Pair them with a ball winner like Gavi and you don’t have the need for a defensive midfielder from outside the club. Thus we can move on Olmo to cover the other aspect of the midfield.

If you guys are going after both Olmo and Nico, it may have changed to that, because maybe Flick has seen something from one of the pivots that have come from La Masia.
To answear your question, It depends on our system for the season, if Flick changes our formation and tactics, then yeah, we should wait and see if we really need a new CDM, but it is a great risk so the signings that will come, need to be the exact perfect signings for the positions that Flick wants to build our new first XI around.
Flick said he sees Gavi as a box to box, so him, Gundo, Unai, Garrido could all fit there, however recently he said Romeu's role would become increasingly prominent in this season, maybe meaning he wont sign a pivot,and rotate with De Jong, Casado, Romeu, Christensen and even Bernal, but then in the 10 he said he sees Pedri as our most creative player, so it seems he trusts Pedri there, also he really likes Fermin as when je first came he was among the core names, and Pablo Torre has impressed as well as Guille F & Darvich from La Masia and Gavi, Gundo or even Unai can fill in, even in terms of wide areas should we sign Nico, we are surely stacked, so Olmo would not only be a luxury, but a waste of funds, might unsettle the dressing room due to lack of game time and we really shouldn't be looking to sign him, signing a fullback, not an immediate starter like Arnau Martínez should be our real priority but highly unlikely
If you look at Flick's Bayern team and use that same template here, I no longer think they're going for a Defensive Midfielder. In Flick Bayern, the two pivots weren't used to shield the back four, they were actually used as two Deep Lying Midfielders - they'd spray balls wherever needed. So using that logic 'd say he'd most likely use Frankie and Pedri as the two pivots because of their passing abilities and then build around them. Christensen and Bernal could step in and cover for them if need be.
Per the pivot role, I believe that the search has been abandoned.
I strongly believe that Flick has taken a close look at Marc Casadó and is convinced he can mold him into the pivot he wants

We need proper CDM we needed it for almost 5 years. Olmo is a lexury signing we need a CDM more than a winger or attacking midfielder. We never seem to lack those kind of players in La Massia when ever we need them even mid season. The defensive part of the midfield has been forgotten for a while we will never compete to Laliga or champions league till we figure it out. We need that now!

I am a bit worried. On the left side, we have Ansu and Ferran. (Sometimes Vitor and Raphina). Bringing in Nico would add depth but who will accept to be on the bench? If we leave Vitor to go, there will be no natural center forward.
Let's be careful with how we make our signings. I think Ansu should leave. Ferran will be on the bench with Nico being first choice LW.
I'd say buy Nico and Olmo, sell one of our weaker attackers while also unfortunately not brining back Félix. Buy Merino and try to sell Frenkie or Araujo. Zubi would be perfect, but he probably won't leave the club. If there is FFP margin left, I think Guillamon, Antonio Blanco or Turrientes are interesting CDMs who are still young for a cheap price.

Dani Olmo is a good player with good qualities but we don’t need him and should not be signing him at all. If we somehow have money left after the Nico deal then we should try our best to get Zubimendi, who’s a great pivot that can play in a single or double pivot. A quality pivot would make this team more balance and improve player directly and also we as a team would reach a whole new level as a team.
Yes we should go after Williams and Olmo. I do think Zubimendi is a great option too. Olmo has proven he can play in the big moments and that means to me that Flick has a plan for the midfield.defense.

If we’re able to sign 2 players, it should be Nico and a holding midfielder. While Olmo has been great during the Euro’s, we do still have Pedri, Gavi, Gündogan, Fermin and Noah Darvich potentially coming up. Plus the 10 is a position Ansu and Raphinha can also play in.

You need depth. Pedri and Gavi getting injuries every season, same as DeJong. It’s a pattern now.
Olmo would be another Countinho imo. It's the same "CAM" position in which both Coutinho and Olmo prosper. A position that doesn't really exist here at Barca
Pedri and Gavi are unknown assets atm due to their injuries. Selling Frenkie is not really possible because of his ongoing ankle injury. So, we have Fermin and Gunda who can be interiors. Gunda does not have the intensity needed. Olmo would be good there, but an expensive bench player once our young stars are healthy.
