Plenty of shops sell vintage and one-of-a-kind items which makes it difficult to have a best seller or to have a multiple number one items. In addition, I cut out and make the majority of my wood jewelry and am not going to hand cut 20 of the same pieces. That is why they supposed to be called "handmade" not "machine made." Selling globally is complicated, costly, and would just be a big headache for me. Selling in the US can be complicated at times so I'm better off without selling universally. Overall, this video seems to be for newbies, because those of us who have been with Etsy for quite some time, are very aware of these tips (which are good ones), have been there and done that, are now being challenged with big decreases in sales.
Thanks, yes your business will dictate how Etsy works for you, and the limitations that arise from that. If you want to grow and turn around a decrease in sales, it will require a restructuring of your business process, which of course is not easy.
Thank you very much. This helps me a great deal! I have a POD store opened in June and I have no sales, except that my sister bought somo polos for her business. I wont give up. Thanks. LOL 61 and I wont give up..
I paint one off art work, i am putting 2 to 5 variations in each listing. If one sells i can replace it with another similar painting not changing the title/tags/descriptions. Do you think that will work to increase my sales score?

I have just found your video! Thank you so much for this great video and thank you Dawn for allowing us to see your shop! It has really helped me. I have been open for over a year and made 49 sales. I can see some changes I need to make to my shop. I have found it so tuff getting fresh new products out as everything I make is completely hand made so it can be a slow process😢x
Etsy localizes traffic to Canada, so you will be getting Canadian customers, and yes I am aware of the weird and expensive shipping situation in Canada. Ship to Canada and the US, US customers will see your items, and there won't be a negative impact.
Another great tutorial from you thanks Nik (I'm doing some binge-watching at the moment, as I've only recently "discovered you"). Interesting about the "About Me" section - difficult to know what to include, as it's early days for the Etsy store, and I don't feel I have anything to shout about (yet!) - eg, attention to detail, great customer service, etc...
Question about videos: Do you think she should make a unique video for every listing? Or just 1 general video for the circular charm type that can be re-used in all the listings? I am starting to add more videos to my listings, and I'm just starting with a video per product type (ex: rugs) that demos the product using the most popular design. If another design really takes off, perhaps I will add a unique video for that one, too.
Very interesting and I am a culprit of not getting more than one item as everything I make is so unique. I am going to have to think about this one... also need to get some photos and a video in my bio - such helpful great videos thank you so much!
I didn't know videos & photos were necessary in the About page to boost your shop. How did you conclude that customers like reading the about page? Is there data on that? I didn't think anyone bothered!
Yes they are. Etsy has mentioned on numerous occasions over the years that customers read the about page, and I also have had many many clients tell me both how they act on Etsy when shopping, and also what their customers have told them about their about page, people definitely look at it.
Hey Michelle, thanks for commenting. Please feel free to book a 30 minute zoom call with me using the following link and we can go through your store: etsy-consultant.com/services/30-minute-etsy-store-critique/
Hi Sonz, thanks for commenting. To add photos & video to your about page, you should go to your Seller Dashboard and on the side bar select "Settings" -> "About your shop". And then at the top of the page select the "Story" tab and scroll down a bit. There you go!
Just discovered your channel and yup! I am one of those who shelled out a lot of loot for a training class, only to realise that I should have had faith in my ability to self learn ! I am very grateful for your guidance 🫡
Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, there is nothing wrong with training, if the people doing the training actually know what they are talking about. The sad reality is that most do not know what they are talking about. Self learning is important, as is choosing the right mentor/guide, if you want to accelerate your learning.
Great info thanks! I just watched and I too had multiple listings with only 1 in inventory so I corrected that, but I still have only one sale and have been open nearly a year! What am I doing wrong?
Hello! I am absolutely thrilled with your videos and the in-depth knowledge and experience you bring to the table. I am a digital Etsy seller. I sell unique, higher-priced clipart sets and digital paper sets. My two questions are: (1) how can you use your stats to determine which items you should replace and (2) how long should you leave a product in your store before you replace it (a full year or at least six months)? Thank you kindly!
I really love your videos and I think you provide lots of value to those of us selling on Etsy. That said, I have a print on demand store. Whether it’s customized or not everything is made to order by a print provider. While I will correct any problem that arises, I cannot take returns. Selling outside of the US, depending on the country, requires me to take returns. It’s not worth the hassle to me.
Does the listing date at the bottom of the page update when the item is auto renewed? That could why it's showing December 2022, it was perhaps uploaded December 2021, and the Dec 2022 listing was the third auto renewal, which occurs every 4 months
Another great video and very helpful for Dawn I would imagine. While I'm busy building stock ( as we speak lol), these videos are so, so valuble. While I was watching , I felt like that kid in the classroom " please Sir, I know the answer"....." not enough colour...put them on a bag"....I'm surprised Dawn couldn't hear me from here inOz lol . Good luck Dawn...you can do it !!!!
Hi Nik, I just found your channel have watched almost all of them today! While watching this video I noticed you mentioned that "only one available" is a killer. What if you are making one-of-a-kind jewelery, how can I avoid that mistake. I really want people to have a bracelet or earrings that are unique.
Hi there Karen Thanks for your comment, great question. I have a video for you which explains how to do that with one of a kind items, link below: th-cam.com/video/zPzDptXFMoM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=elcJLj3OM0S-WfNo
The charms are really cute. They should sell. Did she close her shop or change her name? I couldn't find it. One thing I would suggest is showing the charms on bracelets or key rings. The heart charm she should make many of. ❤
Having one product in one color might be an issue for me too, I don't know. I repurpose fabric for my products so I may have enough fabric for one bag or I may have enough for four bags. Do I stay with making multiple bags in one color? The basis of my shop is to repurpose high quality fabric into new products (bags and ornaments for now.
Hey Ellen, your goal is: 1 To have as many items as you can 2 To have stock depth on each item You need to source all raw materials with these two points in mind, so this is a business process conundrum.
Very interesting. These are things I never would have thought about, but I will definitely be making some changes. Thank you so much for this useful information!
@@etsyconsultant That is good to know about the SEO. I do have a question. Since each item is hand-stamped individually and I don't want a bunch of stock on hand in case they don't sell, what would your advice be on that? I could add 20 in stock but would have make each individually as they sell. Would that be something I need to add to the description that they are made once ordered?
@@dawnmarie7853 I would customize the item after it sells. Etsy allows you to chose "made to order" and will show this to the customer so that's not a problem. From my experience only a small percent of your items will take off and generate sales (unless you're some kind of superstar Etsy shop). So if you make 20 of each before they sell you'll have lots of useless stock.
My store is POD id like to offer global shipping but if i have several variations of a product with different shipping prices I dont know how to set up a shipping profile bc the prices are different, its not a flat rate so thats where Im stuck on the global shipping. A 11x14 poster may ship for $5 but the 24x36 poster ships for $10 does that make sense? They are in the same listing but i can only put one flat shipping price per country so idk im stuck with that one so just doing free shipping in the US its just easier but i would like to offer global shipping at some point if i can figure out a way to do so.
Hey, your POD supplier should have all that information pre filled out when you send the listing to Etsy from the provider. Or am I understanding you incorrectly?
Great video! New subscriber here. I have a store that has been sat sinse 2013, it had 1 sale years ago. Im now trying to set up an etsy businesses following all of your excellent advice. Im nervouse because im using the store I opened back in 2013, im wondering if I should have just started a brand new store instead of reviving an old one as it may look bad to etsy and customers. Before i list too many products, do you think I should close this store and start a new one? Started just 3 weeks ago listing, so its still early days😅
Hi there Adam, thanks for your comment. With only 1 sale I recommend that you start again and open a new store. Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.
Speaking of videos, I've seen listings that have videos as thumbnails. Is that a good strategy? Those listings were doing quite well in terms of beings in someone's baskets. Cheers
Hi Sam, I appreciate your comment. Listings always show a photo as their main image. But if a listing has a video, Etsy will play it when buyers move their mouse over it. Listings with videos get more visibility in search. That’s why it’s crucial that you add one to every listing.
If I have distinct items that are similar but not identical, how can I indicate that I have more than one available for purchase? What is the most effective way to convey this information in this listing along with images? For instance, if I have a one-of-a-kind painting of the sky that I wish to sell, but can create additional paintings with a similar sky, how can I maintain a high quantity to improve the quality score of the listing?
Hi there, appreciate your comment. I suggest you watch my video "The SECRET To Selling One Of A Kind Items On Etsy": th-cam.com/video/zPzDptXFMoM/w-d-xo.html
Two month old etsy shop, 3 organic sales with views increasing each week. Overnight no views for the past week. Completely baffled and discouraged. As long as my views were increasing I was hanging in there. This morning i turned on ads but after watching this video will turn them off, man I just dont know what to do. I was planning on signing up with you Nik but if my shop is not capable of getting views after following all your videos Im afraid to spend another hour or dime on this shop. Is etsy just too saturated? Is my shop just garbage? How to know😢
@@etsyconsultant Thank you Nik, I am happy to report that Mother's Day made the difference. I got 22 organic sales! So, I am feeling more positive and will keep going according to your videos on youtube. I look forward to the day i can afford your workshop. Thank you for everything😁
Hi thank you for this video I make sales regularly, however it is not a lot I have started implementing some of the suggestions here. However about the shipping abroad (im in the UK) I had an issue where the shipping cost more then the items sold. Is it still worth offering international shipping in this instance ?
Hi just came across this video. This is probably a stupid question but why is it so bad to have just one item? I ask this because I've just opened an Etsy store elling one-off pieces. Many thanks Noel
hello, I'm thinking of closing my etsy shop for less than a year, I've only had 8 sales. I watched your video and did the same... and nothing Bacac Design etsy
I took a look at your store, and it will need a lot of work to get it selling more, there are several critical issues. If you want to book in for a call with me, please do so on the link below: www.fiverr.com/s/xKP6Da
You need brand text, brand photos and brand video. Use canva for a video slideshow, and for the photos, use product shots, explainers, branding, all sorts can go in here, just make it work for your brand; think of it like a TV advert.
I just looked at the bottom of my listings (some were up as early as November 2021 and selling well) and they now say “listed April 2023” on them. How have I managed this and surely this is affecting my sales then?
Hi Thomas, when a listing is sold on Etsy, it is automatically renewed and the “listed on” date is updated to reflect the date of the most recent sale.
Hello, I watched your video and we are having problems with sales in our store we opened on Etsy, but not the issues you mentioned, I don't know why and I couldn't solve it, but there is a different issue I want to ask you, there are people who want to buy our Etsy listing products on social media, how do we go about this process? I don't know how to manage it, first of all, is it ethical, should the price be the same as Etsy, after all, we offer digital products, you will appreciate that these products are at very low prices. I would appreciate your feedback regarding this issue, thank you.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. The problem is if you have low sales and direct your traffic from social media to your Etsy store, it will affect the potential for any organic sales. I advise my clients to direct social media sales to their own website. It's up to you how you price them, you can take into account that the Etsy fees would be higher for sales through Etsy, and charge a little less on your own website. For complete guidance on how to grow your business please book a discovery call where I will be able to help you further, The link to book is below: etsy-consultant.com/services/discovery-call/
I understand that for more sales you should have multi-quantity listings. What about those of us who sell vintage? Most items are not available in quantity. Any suggestions to help that don’t require multi-quantity listings. I try to pick up items when they become available to add to the quantity of listings, but it doesn’t happen often. I do have 1628 sales, so all is not wrong. Thanks for your help. (I originally posted this as a reply to another commenter by mistake.)
Hey Loy, thanks for your comment. I suggest you watch my video "The SECRET To Selling One Of A Kind Items On Etsy": th-cam.com/video/zPzDptXFMoM/w-d-xo.html
This highlights what's wrong with Etsy not her store. You didn't cover how many visits she had so your analysis isn't accurate, she may have had no visits or has lots of visits, either way would determine whether her products are sort after or not relative to the sale price or that Etsy has a fundamental flaw in promoting unique crafted products and instead wants manufactured repeat items. You also didn't cover a saturated market and that she maybe at the bottom of a mountain of other makers doing the exact same products for less money.
Hi Joshua, thanks for your input. This is a TH-cam review for a subscriber, and I covered exactly why she is not making any sales, I cannot cover everything, and I don't have access to seller data for these reviews.
@@etsyconsultant it's not 'exact' if you don't have all the information, it's speculative and could be explained by other perspectives you haven't covered. Now lots of people who are watching this video in a similar position to her will be wasting their time making adjustments to their shop that won't fix their problem at all. I would encourage you to do a follow up video that goes into more depth preferably with some extra data from her analytics if she's willing.
@@joshuadelisle With respect, I have been doing this job for 8 years, and what I have highlighted is what is wrong with her store, and it is exact. If she fixes the things I have highlighted, she will make more sales, it is not speculative, I have done this thousands of times. Thank you for your comment.
@Joshua De Lisle I think the point is, this shows exactly what is wrong with this particular store... which may also be issues that affect others or not. Each seller would know if something here applies to them by taking the given advice and looking at their own shop with it in mind.
Hi Nick, absolutely loved this Video, our Etsy store is still in the midst of construction, weve already had one sale shortly after opening which was a great buzz as I have been following your advice on tags etc, my husband specialising in anything made of wood for interior use, we do collaborate on some things as I do wood burning, and Im an artist and design and make laminated stickers, I’ve no views on my items, would mine items do better set as a collection of stationery or with prints, I’m just wondering where I’m going wrong? We are also on listing number 37, 2 items have been sold outside of Etsy to family and 1 to a lovely Etsy customer in London.
Hi there, thanks for reaching out. My best suggestion is to book a call with me in which we'll go through your entire shop and analyze what can be improved and done to grow your sales. If this is something you'd like to do, please use the following link: etsy-consultant.com/services/
@@salimahhaji8132 Hmm, are using the app or a desktop browser? I am on my desktop and that is where I see it. I don't use the app so not sure where it would be there. You can also look at one of your product listings and see a list of Shipping Profiles there at the bottom under Shipping.
Hi Nik, i followed your advices - i increased the stock depth, i'm working on changing photos, videos etc., I have views and visits but suddenly, my sales stopped. I haven't had a sale for 3 weeks already. What do you think the problem might be? What do i did wrong?
Hi Tanya, without being in your store it is hard for me to know, however the most likely answer is that there is no problem, and a sale will come along soon. That said, if you changed your SEO on best selling items, that could tank those listings, if the photos you added were worse than the originals, that could also have a negative effect. I am noticing we are in a quiet sales patch at the moment, so please don't panic. For example my digital store in the last 10 days has gone from 4 to 8 orders a day down to 1 order a day, but I am seeing a slow down in stores I work with, so no need to worry.
@@etsyconsultant thanks Nik. I'm not changing anything on best sellering items, it is also a relief to hear that others are going through the same. I'll be patient.
@@homiekeen23 economy isn’t doing well. So with the cost of everything going up less people are buying. I’ve heard the market will jump back up in 2024 so Etsy will probably start seeing more sales at the end of the year durning the Christmas surge and beyond
Hello Nik! I'm a big fan of you and watching every new video. Can't wait for the videos with Louise to start, because I opened my store 2 months earlier and want to grow it with you. I have a quick question for you. The store is about digital paintings and i give the option for buyers to order digital portrait or physical portrait. I got 2 orders yesterday and both are for digital files, but since the listing is for physical products it asks me to add a shipping information. I finished the order by choosing some random courier and then selected that its digital products and thats why have no tracking number. Is this the right way, because I'm doing it for the first time and want everything to be correct?
It sounds like you need to list those files separately. One as a physical product and the other as a digital product. Although I have not received any orders, that is how I listed mine simply because digitals are set up for digitals and physicals are set up for physicals. I hope this helps.
@@cMrob73 Yeah, but everyone in this niche is having same listings offering digital download only, paper and canvas print. They do not offer them separately.
What if you have 20 of something and they all sell out before you can add more? So it shows sold out for a week or 2... when you finally add more stock, are the same numbers for quality score etc automatically back up for that listing?
Hello Nik, I haven’t made any sales over 3 weeks and when I looked back at my shop history, I’ve established my store back in 2022 and didn’t put much effort till september 2023. :( I know it sounds relatable, now I’m thinking of shutting down my dead store and build a new one in Q4. What would be your suggestion on that? I would be very glad if you can guide me
So interesting. I don't get it though because I do also see really successful stores listing their products as only one left in stock so as to make it look one-of-a kind and they're doing really well 🤔
Hi Ame, once you are successful it is a different story, you can have low stock and still collect quality score because you are much more visible. I still would not do it though as you are still losing quality score. For new and growing stores however, this is a costly mistake to make.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I have 2 videos just for you, please see links below: th-cam.com/video/vkAR0L0Dzlc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_-CWMQqML5zZK7ae th-cam.com/video/zPzDptXFMoM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fHcLDXP6kr2kkOrP
I'm ready to start my shop over again but it will include listings for original artwork/ paintings which will of course will be one -offs. I have been hand printing cards so that I have some product listings with quantities of 15 - 20. Will this help? Or will the one-offs remain invisible?
Hi, the main thing here is to make sure that most of your products available for sale have quantities of 20 in stock. You can sell originals as well, that is fine.
@@etsyconsultant Thank you. I am trying...need to try harder🙄. SEARCH QUERY: I have started the new shop. It had previously included my name and the word 'design' -so for the new shop title I dropped the word 'design'. Strangely, now if anyone searches me on google my old Etsy shop name comes up which is a dead end. Will the new shop name show in google search sometime soon?
Hi Nick I upped my prices last year to cover the free shipping I was offering (which had started being triggered in the US automatically by the exchange rate change and me meeting the $35 threshold) Is it better to decrease prices and charge shipping?
Another great content. I have just one question Nik, i opened my shop in November, almost from the beginning I follow you teaching. In December I sold two items to one person. At the moment I have over 250 items in my tore and I try to uploud new one every 2-3 days. I had already over 1200 views during this 6+ months period, average between 160 and 180 per month, how much sell should I expect from this traffic?
I have a similar situation (I have slightly more traffic, but it's for sure because of etsy ads - I turned it on because I was worried about such a low traffic). I will be happy to learn more about the months after the opening of a digital products store (I realize that it is a crowded market, although I meet stores that are new and have sold 100/200 products within six months and their products are not intended for specific niche, they rather exhibit what is popular like fairies, boho style - but nothing like a Disney trademark). Can you record a video and tell us more about digital products?
Don’t know if this will help anyone but I thought I’d share what I do to raise stock depth in my store without having to work harder to keep up with it since what I make is handmade, and I make everything myself. I make Clay Food jewelry, I started off with making just clay food earrings, and I keep about 15 different pairs of earrings in stock in my store. What I do to add more listings with stock depth in my store (without having to keep making new kinds of earrings), I convert the existing earrings I sell into necklaces, charms, bracelets, and keychains. An easy way to create more options without having to make more kinds of clay charms, I just take the earring wire off the charm hook and convert it into a necklace, etc. Gives customers more options to choose from and gives me more visibility in return. I also will take earrings in my store that fit into one category, and I put them all together as one listing, and customers can choose which pair of earrings they want to buy from that listing. An easy way for me to make new listings and have the same amount of stock depth.
Hi nick I have done quite a lot of work on my store recently and have had a few sales in the last few weeks but was wondering how I could get more sales if I feel I’ve gone through my store and changed it to all the required advice that you give plus adding one item every day also and now have over 100 items thank you x
Don't brands use the "low stock" or "last in stock" thing to incourage buyers to buy right away? I see it a lot with successful small and big brands, and I know I have bought many things just because they were low in stock and I didn't wanna risk them not getting back in stock again 😅
Correct, it is one of the worst things you can do in an Etsy store, low/no stock = unreliability and low trust, Etsy can't push items that constantly go out of stock or are low in stock.
This has come at the right time. my last sale was 7 February and that makes me really sad. I have videos, I believe I have good photos but could be wrong but surley there is something I am missing. Any ideas? Thanks
The only other thing is all of my products only have one in stock but that is because we have limited stock. So we have 27ish bags but for the drawstring bags we only have 10 bags in stock so that we aren't buying stock that isn't going to get used how do I get round this with Etsy and what you were saying about one in stock?
Hi Nick. I have the same problem, except my sales are at 5 after 1 year. I've been following your videos and did as you said. Total Views: 5,090 Total Visits: 2,825 Total sales: 5 My pricing is on par with most other shops. But there are some dirt-cheap shops as well. I have also thought about changing from physical canvass prints to digital downloads. I sell African wildlife canvass prints. Should I open a new digital shop or include them in my current shop? I'm worried that it will be confusing to the shopper. Will you be doing a video about how to market one's shop? Thanks!
Hey Malan, watch tonight's video. Also tell me your store name, and if appropriate, I will use your store in my next store review...if you would like that.

Nick, thank you for this video. I have a question though, since it seems to me, that you are targeting the physical product stores mainly, and many of us have a digital product store. Do you think if it is still worth the effort to build a new printable shop on Etsy? I had one quite sucessful in the past, now this new one is a struggle (I am selling printable wall art). Is the market different, more saturated, I do not know. I am turning adds on and off (which may not be a good thing) but whith adds off I really have no views at all, and with adds I got at least few sales and some views. But I hate it I must admit, since I loose money. I add new products daily and trying to be consistent, but I am really questionong if this is worth the struggle. And is it better to find another niche. Thanks!
Hi, I am starting to post more digital content soon, I try to keep everyone happy! Yes it is still worth it, but it way harder than most people realize to succeed now. You have to work really hard on your niche and sub niche sets.
Sorry, but I don't agree with everything. You say she should have at least 20 pieces in one listing to make it more visible. How can you have 20 pieces of one handmade item? And let's not forget that this is the idea of Etsy - handmade products. For ten listings of 20, stocking would take months. If she cuts them with a laser, it will be faster of course. And let's remember that some individual products get a "unicorn badge", so one piece can not be a problem. The second thing - photos, for comparison you show a colorful pendant, when the girl sells only silver ones. Of course, she can change the background colors, but let's remember what Etsy encourages us to do - photos on a uniform, preferably light background. You say there is no contrast? A silver pendant on a dark background? There can't be more contrast. Then you compare to a boring photo of a few charms against a light gray background, and this seller has over 11,000. ratings! With it's boring photos. I think her photos are actually pretty good. A lot of colors and distractions from product doesn't mean better.
Hi Pusta, and thanks for your comment, to reply: 1 You don't have 20 pieces of one item, you have a couple ready made, and raw materials to make the rest. 2 Photos are branding, and it is a skill to get the content and context right. A silver pendant on a dark background technically does have contrast but it looks poor and the overall image does not pop. Her images are drab and washed out, if the brightness was there it would be better. So in her version, the result of the contrast (not the words 'silver pendant on dark background') is simply not there. Thanks
The listing quality score/stock depth poses a problem for those of us who make custom orders & OOAK 😕 Surely selling lots of OOAK would still benefit the overall shop quality score though & thus boost search placement for other listings? Or am I wrong? Ps Dawn, your 'terrible' photos are still better than the vast majority of mine! 😅
Yes it does Hannah. I outlined ways to work with this in another video, holding some kind of stock depth is critical, but of course very difficult for OOAK sellers. Selling lots of OOAK will boost shop quality score yes. This is why large vintage stores do well (200 items +)
@@etsyconsultant Because the last comment I left on this post, I left my Etsy store name, "JustFineWood" link as the end, like a signature and my post got remove so I figure you did not like that or permit that?
Extremely interesting! I guess your job is to repeat a billion times the same thing to each seller, you must be extremely patient. Funny to hear your british accent come suddenly from nowhere sometimes, even for my French ears! 😄 Your whole channel is my new radio at work now, but you probably guessed it already. Question: I just started a new shop, the third one cause it's a third niche, and everytime I'm struggling so much to find what to say in all those "About" sections and stuff... I finally never fulfill them, finding other things to do. I know it's a shame, but how do we do this? What is a GOOD "About" section? What is a godd shop video? I don't even know how to tell the shop's story, storytelling is not my best skill. 🥲

I found this video, interesting and informative. Thank you very much for sharing. Good luck with the future of your store, Dawn.
Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!

Just use the about page to focus on what your business is all about for now, you can change it later if needs be.
Try to do unique videos for every listing, the customer wants to see what they clicked on.
Thanks, especially the advice on about page. I didn’t know that pictures and videos can be inserted on it
No problem!
Very interesting and I am a culprit of not getting more than one item as everything I make is so unique. I am going to have to think about this one... also need to get some photos and a video in my bio - such helpful great videos thank you so much!
Happy to help, Angel!
Hi, great video, I learnt a lot. What would one do about stock depth on a vintage store? Where items are unique and there is only one item in stock?

@@etsyconsultant thank you. I will check that out.

Hi Sonz, thanks for commenting. To add photos & video to your about page, you should go to your Seller Dashboard and on the side bar select "Settings" -> "About your shop". And then at the top of the page select the "Story" tab and scroll down a bit. There you go!

Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, there is nothing wrong with training, if the people doing the training actually know what they are talking about.
The sad reality is that most do not know what they are talking about.
Self learning is important, as is choosing the right mentor/guide, if you want to accelerate your learning.

Hi Waketa, great questions, to answer:
1 Items that do not sell should be replaced
2 12 months
Certainly brought a few much needed things to my attention Nick!!
Hi there, happy to help!
Hi Fox, thanks for your comment. Yes POD providers will facilitate the return, you have to do the customer service part.
Does the listing date at the bottom of the page update when the item is auto renewed? That could why it's showing December 2022, it was perhaps uploaded December 2021, and the Dec 2022 listing was the third auto renewal, which occurs every 4 months
This is actually true, it does update.
Another great video and very helpful for Dawn I would imagine. While I'm busy building stock ( as we speak lol), these videos are so, so valuble. Hi Elanya, you're welcome!
The charms are really cute. They should sell. Did she close her shop or change her name? I couldn't find it.
One thing I would suggest is showing the charms on bracelets or key rings. The heart charm she should make many of. ❤
Hmm, no idea, I haven't looked, if the store isn't coming up then it might be closed, yes.
Hey Ellen, your goal is:
1 To have as many items as you can
2 To have stock depth on each item
You need to source all raw materials with these two points in mind, so this is a business process conundrum.
Very interesting. These are things I never would have thought about, but I will definitely be making some changes. Thank you so much for this useful information!
Hey Dawn, I am glad it helped you see the problem, I didn't talk about SEO because it just isn't a big part of the problem.

Cheers
I only just noticed that myself recently. I’m wondering if that is a new thing with Etsy?

One thing I'm seriously struggling with, if you are purely a POD store, what would you put on your "about us" page in terms of photos & videos?
You need brand text, brand photos and brand video. Use canva for a video slideshow, and for the photos, use product shots, explainers, branding, all sorts can go in here, just make it work for your brand; think of it like a TV advert.
I just looked at the bottom of my listings (some were up as early as November 2021 and selling well) and they now say “listed April 2023” on them. How have I managed this and surely this is affecting my sales then?
Hi Thomas, when a listing is sold on Etsy, it is automatically renewed and the “listed on” date is updated to reflect the date of the most recent sale.
@@etsyconsultant thank you Nick

Hi Juliene, appreciate your comment. Etsy only charges you for listings. You can put in any quantity you choose.
What if you have 20 of something and they all sell out before you can add more? So it shows sold out for a week or 2... when you finally add more stock, are the same numbers for quality score etc automatically back up for that listing?
Hi Enchanted, no unfortunately your listing will get left behind, so you have to try to ensure you do not go out of stock.
@Etsy Consultant ok thank you so much!
I would be very glad if you can guide me
Hi, do Q4 with this shop, if it does not gain sales and traction, close it and open a new one.

Hi Nick, aren't her items unique, not serial production? How can she then have 20 or more pieces?
Hi Natalija, you make more than one, so you have stock. That is the point, without stock you lose visibility.
Hi Nick I upped my prices last year to cover the free shipping I was offering (which had started being triggered in the US automatically by the exchange rate change and me meeting the $35 threshold)

December 2022 was 4 months ago. That is a pretty new store.
It is.
Thanks Brie!
Hi nick I have done quite a lot of work on my store recently and have had a few sales in the last few weeks but was wondering how I could get more sales if I feel I’ve gone through my store and changed it to all the required advice that you give plus adding one item every day also and now have over 100 items thank you x
Hi Jo, you're welcome!
Drop me your store name and I will take a quick look for you.
I will look at your store, this is something you will need to resolve as part of your business process.

@@etsyconsultant Thank you really helpful
Hi Nick. I have the same problem, except my sales are at 5 after 1 year. I've been following your videos and did as you said.
Total Views: 5,090
Total Visits: 2,825
Total sales: 5
My pricing is on par with most other shops.
@@etsyconsultant Hi Nick. I did add my shop link here bur it seems it dissapeared.... Did you get it?
Thank you 🌺
Any time!
Ive only made 23 sales as well..fir about 2 years..

Hey KennyKyle, appreciate your comment!
So, in essence, Etsy is not made for selling one of a kind items. We have to make many copies of the same items.
Correct Marie-Helene
I though Etsy is hand made items so each one is unique?
Ditto above
Handmade, vintage and supplies.
Handmade, vintage and supplies.
Why don’t I see the zipper clips on zippers? Show me what the items are and what they do.
Hi Amanda, appreciate the input.
Hi Pusta, and thanks for your comment, to reply:
1 You don't have 20 pieces of one item, you have a couple ready made, and raw materials to make the rest.
Thanks
The listing quality score/stock depth poses a problem for those of us who make custom orders & OOAK 😕
Surely selling lots of OOAK would still benefit the overall shop quality score though & thus boost search placement for other listings?
Or am I wrong?
Ps Dawn, your 'terrible' photos are still better than the vast majority of mine! 😅
Edit- Nik didn't say *your* photos were terrible, he was looking at your competitors. My mistake!
Correct Hannah!
Yes it does Hannah. I outlined ways to work with this in another video, holding some kind of stock depth is critical, but of course very difficult for OOAK sellers. Selling lots of OOAK will boost shop quality score yes. This is why large vintage stores do well (200 items +)
@@etsyconsultant Do you think this contradicts Etsy's branding by essentially rewarding mass produced over unique items? (I do, if you hadn't guessed)
Oupppsss was it wrong to sign my comments? sorry if it was.
I am not sure what you mean here!
I have made a note to film a video on about pages, thanks!
