- With the SansAmp GT2's combination of three 3-mode voicing switches, a 2-band EQ, and a massive range of gain, you can conjure up just about any amp tone you can imagine. Need to run directly to the PA? No problem! All you need is a SansAmp GT2 and a DI box-and you'll never miss your amp. In this review, Nick Jennison explores why after decades on the market, Tech 21's SansAmp GT2 is still the desert island pedal of choice for guitarists and bass players worldwide. #guitar #guitarist #guitarplayer #guitarinteractive

I still have my Sans Amp from 1992. Now it’s called « classic ».
I love it !
Nick, I’ve had this pedal for quite some time and never really understood how to use it musically. You broke down the settings that I could understand better than the manual. Thanks for taking the time in presenting and explaining how to use the many settings to get a tone I was chasing.
Cheers from S.Carolina, Chris
I was one of the first adopters of the GT2 waaaay back in the day, and I swear (hobbyist though I am) I managed to record some of the best guitar tones to my ears ever.
A great tool and great overview. Thanks for this journey down memory lane. See ya! 👍🎸🎶
I have the original Sansamp with dip switches, have not had gear before or since that inspired me like it does. The pots have gotten worn out and intermittent, I think I will pick up one of these, your demo really conveys the magic that Tech 21 puts into their kit.
I have the Behringer clone of this (Tube Amp Modeler TM300) and didn't use it much because I wasn't aware of how to properly utilize it. This is extremely helpful.
Excellent demo! By the way, one can seriously boost gain and output by putting the Mod switch in between the hot-wired and hi-gain positions. I learned this trick from a magazine review in the early 90s before I bought my first GT2. It works.
Great video I want one! Great tones in that little box
Im using this pedal its AMAZING!!!!
The "hotwired" setting does make it sound more hairy chest.
Thank you for this awesome video! You really demo it well by exploring all 27 of the switch settings & revisiting some key settings.
I got over my pedal addiction many years ago; I think this demo is so good, it may trigger a relapse...
Liked & subscribed!
This is my main distortion pedal, and it’s freaking amazing! 👌🏼✨
Great job with the demo. Too many demos just focus on the players style. Love how you showed what this thing can really do. Now I am a subscriber!
Good video. I’ve had this for a while and found a few new sounds thanks to this video. Never even considered those switch settings for that Santana vibe for example.
Love this pedal. One of my "must have" in pedalboard and main lead distortion
Been using one since 2005. Great for recording or playing live. I like British mode with mic center, hi gain, treble 12, bass 1pm, drive 6-7/10 (give or take depending if you're playing single coil vs humbucker).
Had mine 10 years now...
I used to plug it into fx returns when using other peoples amps...
Sounds great into Pa/ interface and the input of my AC30...
Are you using cab sim or Ir when the GT2 itu pa/interface
??
@@abetayouheiperhaps he is on the road …?🤷🏼♂️
@@johndrowe5281the beauty of sansamp is it is a modular component of your rig that simply replaces your amp. This means you can turn of its own amp sim and throw anything "better" behind it that you want such as a two notes muse or even a real specific speaker cab. So it really doesn't matter what he did cause you will be able replicate (or even improve upon) it through a variety of methods.
Just get a sansamp... It will change your guitar life... You will then define your guitar life as life before vs after sansamps.
Sansamps are one of the pros big secrets because if they were truthful about it they would lose the big money endorsements from the big amp companies.
Sansamp is a no brainier... Only people who don't like them are people too dumb to understand/use them frankly.
GT2 is on my pedal board so effects in GT2 straight to pa
Incredible demo
This is one of the pedals that I started with. And I loved it and will be buying a new one. I also love the Sansamp para Di. But if you're not a little bit older you don't know anything about this stuff
Killer playing
The character series sansamps is what you use when you cant get this box to dial in what you want. The sansamps play better with other pedals than any other amp emulator gear I have ever tried as well which means with the right stuff in front of it you will get what you are going for. You habe to treat sansamps like real amps... To get the AC30 Brian May tone for example you gotta put a Rangemaster in front of the Liverpool - just like tou gotta put a TS in front of the Blonde sansamp to do the SRV thing.
Frankly, in my view people who don't like sansamps just don't understand them and want them to be something other than what they are. Just because it doesn't sound x artist playing through x amp is likely because x artist is adding some sort if secret sauce to the chain - you just gotta figure what it is and add it in yourself (just like a real rig).
So many people want a "one box solves all solution" yet modular rigs are far more versatile and the sansamp is perfect for that.
I bought mine in the early 90s
Still the best distortion pedal I've ever heard, not as farty and murky as most opamp clippers like the Morning Glory or Tubescreamer, which sound like ass on their own.
Noob here, but can you plug this in directly to a audio interface?
Yes, absolutely. It's on lots of records.
Yep. That's it's purpose
Can I get good distortion with it for my bass?
Get the one made for bass..its great!
How about a sample SANS all the FX? That would have been a great place to start to really hear the basic tone. Maybe I missed it? It does sound nice, but I dont know anyone that would record or play live with that much FX in their chain other than a solo or clean picking part. Thanks.
That's the funny thing, can sound very sterile all on its own, but if you just tack a very, very slight touch of verb on it, it transforms it. Much like the Strymon and walrus have those room knobs, it's almost less like a reverb and more like moving the "mic" a bit
@@hereonmarsEVERYTHING sounds sterile by itself.
@@Dave_VeeYou mean just like a real amp in a dead room with no fx?? LMAO
TOO BAD YOUR DAD WASN'T STERILE 1:58 @@Dave_Vee
I just ordered this pedal and plan on using it with my Mesa Boogie amplifier. Is it best to run it into the clean channel in FRONT of the amp or better to place it in the FX Loop?
Clean
This pedal is your CH2
9:43 is the tone I came here for, I think...
It's a great tool , but a speaker emu is needed to make the most of it
In software or in pedal form?
Cab simulation = speaker simulation
Great pedal, but it has a lot of squeaking
You mean like a real amp when you crank it???? LMAO
Dude, I need this box! How many watts is it? Does it have a sweet spot? Is it transgender friendly? Covid compatible? Can it get Eddy's "Smells like teen spirit" tone? Asking for a friend
wtf, lol... nuttin' is transgender friendly silly. Transgender is like a guitar with no strings... Looks different but doesn't work anymore, lol.
...
There are no watts in this it’s an amp simulator
Does not have watts, its a preamp. You would need a power before sending it to a passive cab
Um, he’s joking people! You didn’t notice when he said "transgender friendly?"
