Grange Paddocks weir removal

Above the town in Bishops Stortford there should be a relatively fast flowing clear and shallow natural chalk river. The installation of a weir many years ago for whatever reason, has caused significant upstream siltation and colonisation of the channel by emergent vegetation. The proposal is to remove the weir and return the river to its natural state. The film aims to monitor the effects of the changes to the river.

Thanks for that, the removal of the weir will certainly improve the habitat, do hope it goes ahead. The river will find it's course and will clear itself of silt after winter rains. Great video, do keep us updated. Unfortunately my local river, the Cuckmere, has numerous obstructions, which could so easily be removed, the water is good, natural brown trout are thriving, it could be a great river for Sea Trout.😉
