Hey Rich, do you think that you could do a video about Johnny Turner? He's a friend of mine here on Staten Island, N.Y..
We were on the department of sanitation together back in the 1990's, and I worked alongside him many times.
We have stayed in touch and shared many encounters. He wanted to set me up with trainers out of Coney Island Brooklyn but it never happened.
We had a few Mach sparring sessions; slap fights mosly, but more than once we both left bruises or blood on the other. He Choreographed the fight scenes for 1980's Raging Bull, voted Best Picture of that decade by the N.Y. Times. Anyway, he's an interesting study, and after fighting Wilfredo Benitez on short notice his carreer in boxing ended.
The days of Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, and Roberto Duran, and Hagler was his group. Ranked #5 at one time.
      Should make a good story.
His daughter Danielle won the T.V. show Amazing Race.
Split One million with her partner.

Sad to see that a guy felt like he was done at 24, that is when most great fighters are just reaching their peak. Love this channel. Always had the feeling with Colin's fights that it could all be over with one punch , tough proud Welshman with power in both hands so even when he was behind on points one good shot would win it , the LAING fights were perfect examples . No surprise he had hand trouble big punchers often do ,Joe Calzaghe had same problem .

Same here. That first fight was supposed to be a showcase for McCrory, it was a fight that had everyone where I was watching cheering for Jones by the end. That fight is a great boxing memory from the '80's. The second fight wasn't quite as good but still a tough outing for both guys.

Jones had all the atributes that he was famous for, but he was 'one paced'' predictable and lacked a good defence which left him vulnerable to elite level fighters. That said, he was one of the UKs most exciting fighters who produced 'edge of the seat' action every time he fought.

Jones-McCrory 1 was a rip roaring affair. I remember being 14 years old and watching it on ABC. Jones looked like such a frail, skinny dude....but he hit like a sledgehammer. I remember the announcers saying he had "heavy hands" and my 14 year old self thought "boy he sure does have heavy hands. Like he's got bricks stuffed in those gloves." I actually thought Jones won the fight, he had McCrory hurt basically the entire second half of the fight.
