So some clarification, I have seen The Princess Bride and Misery which were also Rob Reiner films. Somehow when I was trying to quickly skim through his filmography I didn't see them on there the first time! So I've seen both of those and parts of A Few Good Men!
The stories that are told by old couples are actually true stories, its just actors telling someone elses story :) Thanks for the reaction omni, this was really enjoyable since its holiday here!
Here’s the list of films Carrie Fisher worked on as a script doctor: Hook, Sister Act, Lethal Weapon 3, Made in America, Last Action Hero, So I Married an Axe Murderer, My Girl 2, Milk Money, The River Wild, Love Affair, Outbreak, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Wedding Singer, The Out-of-Towners, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Coyote Ugly, Scream 3, Kate & Leopold, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, & Intolerable Cruelty
I love this movie and I love that you watched it. Like what you pointed out in the outro, I love the fact its dialogue-heavy. My favorite lines I say at least a few times a year: "Baby Fish Mouth" "You're right. You're right. I know you're right" (said similiar to how Carrie Fisher says it) One line I've come to love more and more: "When you know you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."
Love your reactions-So glad you’re reacting to this movie! Love it- especially the part when they’re actually good friends. That’s real character growth there.
You've never seen The Princess Bride? Rob Reiner directed that and it also has Billy Crystal although he's more recognizable by his voice than appearance. You should do a reaction sometime if you haven't seen it. That movie is iconic.
So I definitely didn't look close enough because I didn't see that on his list the first time! I have seen that and he also did Misery as well hence the book popping up in here I imagine haha
So so many iconic lines from here. My friend and I when needing to distract someone would always say oooh, I've been looking for a red suede pump. Also, watch Casablanca. And one of my favorite stupid funny movies with Carrie Fisher (though she's the serious character) is The Burbs.
I'm sure you've also seen (or rather heard) Billy Crystal in another movie because he's the voice of Mike Wazowski in Monsters Inc. Unless you haven't seen that, in which case you definitely should!
I know you watched “the boys” - Meg Ryan is Jack Quaid (Hughie)’s mom - if you want to watch another great Ryan movie “innerspace” she’s in with Jack Quaid’s dad Dennis Quaid and Martin Short. Also - seeing this you can see how much he favors his mom - she’s like the girl Hughie this whole movie minus the blood and superheros. Also you can catch a clip of him on Kimmel talking about watching his mom in When Harry Met Sally for the first time when he was in his late 20s - worth it.
Regarding Casablanca... not that odd a thing to say, Victor Lazlo is awesome 😂. And the actor who plays him, Paul Henreid, was quite handsome in that dignified, 1940's gentleman way. There's a movie with him and Bette Davis called Now Voyager, and oh, he looks good there!
My 1st time watching your channel & I really enjoyed your reaction during the film! 😊 Love this movie sooo much!! Hope you react to more like this & other films outside of your usual genre.
Unrelated to the film, but you should check out this film that Carrie Fischer wrote about her and her mother's relationship starring Meryl Streep playing a character that represents herself. Very overlooked and underrated, but Meryl got an Oscar nod for it. As for When Harry Met Sally, it IS a classic written by the late and great Nora Ephron. Rob Reiner was on a role in the 80s with big hits, This is Spina Tap (a hilarious mockumentary), Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and into the 90s with Misery and A Few Good Men. While his streak ended, that's a great feat to to have such iconic films that varied from genre to genre and lasting in cinematic zeitgeist; Not many directors' have that golden period in time where it was hit after hit like that.
I love this movie so much. I loved watching this movie when I was too young to know what it most of it was about, but I knew I loved it. Glad you got to see it.
Love that you enjoyed this film. It's one of my favourites. I watched it this new years eve. Watched it so the end countdown matched up with real time. Sad, but I loved it 😄
@@norabossa9641 And Joe vs. The Volcano (which was the first of the Hanks / Ryan rom-coms). But it is much deeper of a movie than just a typical rom-com.
“And while Jason Voorhee’s drowning people…” That cracked me up!!!!!!! BTW been watching your shares for years. I’m a tru blue Star Wars fan!!!! Thanks for all the content 😊
I had just seen your reaction to the Harley Quinn Valentine's special and when you didn't react to the confessionals in that episode being taken from When Harry Met Sally, I thought oh he must've not seen it. Then to see this pop up today. Glad you got to see this classic, everyone should see it at least once in their life.
Billy Crystal is generally the best part of any movie he's in, even in small roles like The Princess Bride. By the way, Bruno Kirby was Crystal's costar in City Slickers, and Kirby was also in Good Morning, Vietnam with Robin Williams.
As far as funny rom coms, Forget Paris another Billy Crystal film. You’ll realize how much of a sports fan Billy is. He’s famously a life long Yankee fan.
You are not wrong, that’s the tree from Hawkeye. It’s Rockefeller Center. It houses Radio City Music Hall, SNL, and other famous shows that film around there. I used to work retail right by it for a few months. If you go to the middle of Times Square and walk east to 6th, you’ll smack into it.
My fav movie of all time! So glad you watched it. Can’t believe you haven’t seen many of Rob Reiner’s other films! Does that mean you haven’t seen The Princess Bride?
6:05 that dialogue changed all meaning for me once I started watching The Big Bang Theory. 7:12 when my son was a toddler and had days of the week underwear there were Sundays. That was in the mid 2000's though. 1:04:36 What about Billy Crystal as Miracle Max in The Princess Bride?
I swear to God, Sesame Street has a parody of the infamous deli scene. Obviously it has nothing to do with orgasms but as someone who was familiar with the reference I about fell over in my chair.
You should do a Shop Around the Corner/You’ve Got Mail marathon. You’ve Got Mail is the remake. Both are great And/or Love Affair/Affair to Remember/Sleepless in Seattle marathon. All 3 are great.
You haven't seen 1987's movie Innerspace with Meg Ryan, Dennis Quaid, & Martin Short? I would watch that movie all the time when I was like you said a "digit" year old 😂
I was disappointed to find out they weren't real. They sure seem realistic! I have elderly relatives who talked over each other like that one couple. Funnier when it's fictional. 😂
WAIT wait wait waitwaitwait... the only other Rob Reiner film you've ever seen was A Few Good Men? You've never seen This Is Spinal Tap? The Princess Bride? Misery?
Yeah, that's real. As a queer person myself, I strongly feel that women and men can and should be friends, even when they're cishet. I think a lot of the problems we have and are facing are caused by men not understanding women's perspectives. I really feel like we'd benefit a lot from more women and men being friends
So some clarification, I have seen The Princess Bride and Misery which were also Rob Reiner films. Somehow when I was trying to quickly skim through his filmography I didn't see them on there the first time! So I've seen both of those and parts of A Few Good Men!

It gets the crown for being the best romcom, but also, it is just an amazingly well written and directed comedy. with a razor sharp cast.
Here’s the list of films Carrie Fisher worked on as a script doctor:

I knew I liked her writing. 🙃
YES! #1 ROM-COM!! 🙌
You have the best laugh! And this movie has so many laughs. So this was fun. Almost like seeing it again for the first time.
It’s true fellas, if you make a woman meow it’s because she is indeed faking it and ran out of noises 😂
I like that you don't shy away from telling us some personal stuff like about your dreams or your dating history. like a normal human. 👍
Yeah, I really appreciated that
I think it’s great.

Baby fish mouth is sweeping the nation. I almost passed out. Could not breathe. 😂😂😂
@@wendydarling5790 Yessss, my second favorite line in that scene! I want both on a t-shirt or, at least, a coffee mug.

And, of course, the II'll have what she's having" lady is Rob Reiner's mother, Estelle.
i like that he was reading misery and rob reiner directed the movie misery

Came here to say this. This is why that random couple gets interviewed in the stands, plus the famous lines quoted…
This is one of my favorite movies of all time
I love this film so much ! Timeless funny and romantic

Every time I see Meg Ryan now, I'm like "hey, Jack Quaid's mom!!" because of The Boys. IDK why I do that, I always knew she is his mom, lol.
I love this movie! It's one of my favorites. When I saw that you were reacting to it I got so excited. Nice job!
An amazing g RomCom & ranks as one of the best. It’s all in the dialogue.
Moonstruck is another fantastic one too.
Really fun reaction.
Oh please watch Moonstruck 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I kept waiting for you to realize (or see in his filmography) that Bruno Kirby was also in City Slickers!
And he was in Good Morning Vietnam
My brain immediately went to Creature Commandos when Frankenstein referenced Harry and Sally lol
Same
Bruno Kirby was in City Slickers also!!!
I vote Sleepless in Seattle next
100%

Well if you're doing When Harry Met Sally, you should probably do Sleepless in Seattle. (Valentines Day on that one, BTW)

Late 80's, tribeca area, that space... Around 2k a month...maybe a shade more.... Around 6k in todays money.
Billy just lost his home in LA fires. fun film
This is such a great classic movie. I think all those couples they are interviewing are all real couples.
