  • This is our second year of #NoMowMay in Colorado - waiting until June for the first mow of our lawn in Colorado. Spring 2023 was very wet in Colorado and our front lawn grass was nearly at my waist walking along the sidewalk - it was beautiful to see it blowing in the wind like a wheat field. Even our neighbors liked it. Spring 2024 is much drier and the grass only grew to just above my knee by comparison - but still beautiful.
I am now mowing our grass only every other week with the mower at it's highest level. We only mulch the grass clippings - never bagging the grass. Additionally, we do not rake/bag tree leaves in the fall. All of the yard leaves are mulched back into the grass with the mower each fall.
Spring 2024 saw the least amount of lawn weeds yet and we did not have any lawn weed/feed applied - 100% natural.
Now if mother nature would just bring back some Colorado spring rains the lawn will be brilliant green in no time...

“No Mow May is a quick and catchy name for a movement that aims far beyond not mowing the yard for a month. It’s more than long grass and dandelion blooms. It’s a gateway to understanding how we share our lawns with many small creatures." - BeeCityUSA.org
