I have a question. What’s a really great antenna for an aviation radio? I have a Yeasu 850L and my range on the ground is horrible with the stock antenna. Hopefully you’re able to help me out. Thanks for this video
@IamSirdauntis Thanks for watching! I recommend checking on a few extended antennas tuned in the VHF range. Usually, stock antennas are standard, so perhaps a dipole antenna may be your best bet. If you don't plan on TX with it, even an Abbree extended antenna from Amazon might work. By any chance, is your reception obstructed, and are you trying to listen inside a building/car?
@@RadioCheckk it’s only crappy when I am inside of a vehicle and not within the area of the airport. But I do want a great antenna so that in the event that I do have to transmit because of radio failure inside of the cockpit that I’ll be able to do so without an issue.
Once again, thank you for your very informative videos. Keep them coming 👍.
I’ve seen cops with messed up antennas on their radios before
@christineopena2214 I have too. Wish someone would educate them on that importance. Thanks for watching!
