I was already in love with her, but the bunker scene absolutely galvanized me. In a more public forum I'd get a shitton of hate for saying this, but, that scene is probably peak Macross. There were great moments in previous shows, no doubt, but at no point was a Macross heroine as fragile and yet determined as Sheryl in the bunker. No magic, no protoculture, no valkyrie mechs, just a simple human giving comfort to others through her singing.

Sheryl Nome it's actually the only idol in the whole saga that I have liked. I think it's the only idol that's psychologically "well constructed". All others are just too childishly spoiled, but with a cute smile, like Min May. Ranka is just another immature child, but cute. Sharon might be an exception though...
