True.the NA 2.8D has no speed power on the highways but once you drive off the tarmac and into the wild it becomes a totally different reliable animal.
LN106 is one of the best ever made. Its a perfect blend of reliable technology and good enough comfort. I had a one over 11 years and it was my daily driver plus off road vehicle.
Im making a 4runner 2.8 turbo diesel, and im gonna be putting forged internals, valves pistons, not crank tho. Only thing im really changing up is the pump, and im only going to be putting a rebuilt boost compensated one on, and the reason is the bloke im getting my engine built at whos an engine builder well known in the town, hes done an LN106 before and taken all the "5L"/3.0 stuff and put it on the "3L"/2.8 and then got a boost compensated pump for it and he ran 20 psi no problems after it had 200thousand Ks on it with stock internals
@@shanehogan5095 yea i left that bloke who was gonna give me the "forged internals" im with a new bloke thats getting genuine toyota parts and thats it a new pump ct12b
@@samtimo3002 dont bother with toyota turbos they are shithouse get a subaru tdo4l and billet gate from ebay, also dont compensate you pump unless its 12mm plunger as the factory 3l pump is alot better
Mate please do your research before wasting bucket loads of money on engine rebuilds and shit for a turbo. These engines are increadibily tough and do not require any sort of rebuilding at all for a turbo, just dont go overboard.
@@TasmanianHillBilly yeah im going with a HE211w when i get the money and stock internals because stocks best and the HE211w is designed by holset for cummins for their R2.8 so its made for the displacement and it spools up before 2000rpm
@@Eddie_Turbo wot, no one asked you whether this dude needs a dual cab 106. i was asking a question bc everyone loves dual cabs even though youd get more canopy space with a super or single.
