    I absolutely love R&B and R&R 78's. It's the only way to appreciate early R&R sides. Let's not forget, those early sides at at their finest on 78. Yummm!

    lots of old dirty r&b records out there.. a few comps on cd. that piano song you found reminded me of the bangers -baby let me bang your box which I have on 45.

      True that there's quite a few dirty early R&B songs. This one is pretty blatant though.

    Need that copy of “Venus” by the squires. Also that record came out in 1956. The squires didn’t release anything in 1953. They first started in 1954 with “Lucy Lou” on kicks records

    I too am a record collector and my favorite Group to collect is the Cadillacs. I already have lots of their stuff on 45s and Both Of Their Albums, but i have yet to find any 78s. Watching this will give me the hope that one day i will find a 78 of speedoo.

      I have a few Cadillacs 78s including a very beat copy of Speedo. Hope to find a better copy someday. I do have a reissue 45 in one of my jukeboxes. It's one of my daughter's favorite songs to select.

    hello mike, you got a great score there with all those beautiful 78s! lots of really nice doo wop blues and r&b. i have very few 78s in my collection but i always appreciate seeing others collections as they are getting a little scarcer to find these days. some nice looking labels and some of these should fetch a pretty penny, great video and thanks for sharing!

    Nice Finds Mike big fan of Doo Wop especially 78s Jesse Belvin Betty My Darling my favorite he did on Hollywood Records, Big Jay Mcneely Don't Cry Baby 1951 on Imperial Jesse Belvin also appeared on that record one of Jesse first. The Castelles on Grand is local to me they were sold at Treegoobs a department store on Lancaster Ave in Philadelphia pa They were recorded in Camden Nj. On 45 it worth a few thousand in perfect condition.

      My mother grew up in Philadelphia in the fifties. Wish she had kept her records from back then. I'm still amazed that I found these. It's even more amazing that people kept flaking on the seller. Seems like every lot I buy off Craigslist or FB Marketplace the seller tells me they were flaked on numerous times.

    Did you seriously only paid US$100 for all this, to say you got a bargain would be a massive understatement.
    That is a supreme selection of R&B related 78s.

    • @MikeFindsThings
      @MikeFindsThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the stuff I look for on 78. Usually you're lucky to find one or two mixed in with the common Bing Crosby, Doris Day, and big band records. It's amazing to get so many good 78s in one shot.
      What's crazy is that the seller told me he'd been flaked on by several prospective buyers, which is the same thing I've heard from others I've bought lots from.

    The Willie Mabon, Chess 1531 has sold for up to $20 in vg condition.
    You need better resources.
    Pity you don’t seem to find many prewar records in Pasadena. These are fine but my true love is for stuff from 1926-1935.

    • @MikeFindsThings
      @MikeFindsThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the prewar stuff I have is the normal common stuff you find for gramophones. I do have a few jazz 78s from that era. I showed a fairly rare Gennett jazz 78 in a previous video. I've never come across any rare pre war blues 78s. I did pick up a Columbia Robert Johnson "Thesaurus Of Jazz" reissue LP at an estate sale recently that I have yet to put in a video. It's one of the late sixties pressings and not one of the really expensive early ones. Probably the only Robert Johnson I'll ever find on a record.

      There's a super rare northern soul 45 in next week's video along with other soul, garage, surf, and rock records that aren't 78s. The video after that one will be focused on my northern soul 45 box.
