I checked your reaction playlist and came to know you are not Simon & Garfunkel's fan definitely, lol. This is from old English folk song. S&G version is the most famous as far I know. There are some stories about this song Scarborough Fair..what I've read was this is a song from a ghost (soul) of a dead soldier. He asked the herbs growing on his dead body to deliver his message to his beloved girl in Scarborough Fair where was a big herb market. He asked the herbs to tell her impossible task "Tell her to make me a cambric shirt without no seams nor needle work" to make her give up waiting for his coming back as he's already unable as he's dead. Forestella sang like as messengers of this sad and beautiful story. Also there are symbols those herbs significated: parsley for comfort or to remove bitterness, sage for strength, thyme for courage, and rosemary for love. There's some speculation that these four herbs were used in a tonic of some sort to remove curses. What I first heard was to remove memories..so I thought he (the dead soldier) wanted to remove the memory about him from his girl to make her not mourning for him anymore. BTW I found those herbs cannot be grown in the same areas in fact while on my researching English references.. so it could be just for remembering the recipe for turkey seasoning ingredients, too.
This was their performance from KBS Immortal Songs. If you keep reacting to Forestella, it'll be better to know about Immortal Songs. KBS Immortal Songs (I'll say IS) is a kind of remake rendition competition show for legendary musicians. Usually, someone living legend in Korean music is invited and 6~12 teams compete with a rendition of the songs related to the legend. But sometimes there are episodes inviting nobody and having specific themes. Now it's changed a little, the numbers of teams to 5~15. IS diversed the invited artists more like not only living legends but also popular young artists. Each episode has a winner by audiences votes. At each half of the year, there's a King of the Kings episode (I'll say KoK). At the KoK episode, the winners from each episode through the period compete with each other with any cover they choose. So in KoK, no legend is invited. Forestella began to be known to the world with their Bohemian Rhapsody from the special episode for Queen in Immortal Songs. They have beautiful renditions of Heal the World, Scarborough Fair, We are the Champions, Smooth Criminal etc. in IS. Actually they are very strong competitors in this kind of music competition shows. They also had awesome performances in Phantom Singer All Stars (I'll say PSAS) in which JTBC invited all the Phantom Singer finalists groups and had competitions among crossover groups. Their Shape of you is a MUST-SEE performance. They sang it in 3 different languages- English, Spanish and isiZulu (one of the African languages) there. And their Time in a bottle, Je suis malade and Inner Universe in PSAS would be also stunning.
FORESTELLA are considered the kings of harmonies. Each voice is unique on its own, but when they create these incredible harmonies together, it blows your mind. They cover songs of all genres and in multiple languages , adding their own flavor and, always respecting the original, making the song their own. Each song is very special and there are many of them. Don't miss out on this musical delight and keep on reacting.
Thank you for your reaction! This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world! Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed. You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us in King of Kings and Unwritten Legend too. Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible. Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. They sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their new original song Utopia is a must check. Now I see they are creating a genre called Forestella. They showed "What crossover is" with Save our lives and showing "What Forestella does" with Utopia!
I am very glad you were introduced to Forestella, who are nicknamed “The King of harmonies”. This group has been together for 5 years and have a long list of gorgeous covers and now have their own songs, “For life”, “Save our lives”, and “Utopia”, this last one being an incredible singing feat. Some of their covers of songs you will know; “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Shape of You”, “Bad Romance”, “Hijo de la Luna”, “Je suis malade”. and many many more. You may have noticed how perfect their English is, yet only one of them speaks rudimentary English. They sing just as well in Spanish, French, Russian and even Zulu!! They are perfectionists and spend hours upon hours making everything exactly perfect. I hope you continue your journey!
"Scarborough Fair" and FORESTELLA - there is no better Version to capture the beauty of this medieval ballad. This combination of lowest and highest pitches, unique voices and outstanding vocal skills is unbeatable. I also highly recommend their versions of "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun" (by Celtic Women) and "Time in a Bottle" (by Jim Croce).
Thank you. You will love them. Ko WooRim is Classically trained Basso Profundo, Cho Mingyu (first singer) is Classically trained Tenor. Bae Doo-Hoon is trained in Theatre. And the surprise is Kang Hyung-Ho (singing highest notes) a former Research Chemist who sang part time in a Rock Band (PITTA). He had NO formal vocal training. Think you should try "Time in a bottle" (Jim Croce). Bohemian Rhapsody, Shape of You, Bad Romance, Sweet Dreams, Hijo de La Luna, and work up to "Je suis malade". 😭
I had the wonderful chance to see Forestella live during their us tour, it was majestic. All I have to say is that these videos don't even come close to what they sound like in person, it's like you're transported to a different world when they sing. I think you would love their cover of Time In A Bottle and Hijo De La Luna is my absolute favorite song from them!
I am so glad to see that you have discovered Forestella, they are incredible, and their arrangements are very special, yes very whimsical and mystical, beautiful harmonies. I found you with Dimash and now you have found Forestella, just wonderful ❤.
Enjoyed your reaction to this incredible South Korean crossover group! They are well-known for their harmonies and versatility, and the members from left to right are Ko Woorim (classically trained bass), Kang Hyungho (rocker, countertenor- had no formal vocal training), Cho Mingyu (classically trained tenor, group leader), and Bae Doohoon (baritone, musical actor). I'd recommend their performances of the classics "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Time in a Bottle" (Jim Croce), and "Sound of Silence" (Simon & Garfunkel) next, in addition to their covers of pop songs including "Bad Romance," "Shape of You," and "Sweet Dreams."
Thank you so much for doing this reaction. Your wife looked like she really enjoyed it, as she has others. I think it is beautiful, you both doing this as a couple. Forestella harmonizes beautifully! Yes, they do sing in English. A lot of South Korean groups do. 😊 I hope you will do more reactions of Forestella, they do a magnificent cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. This song was originally done by Simon & Garfunkel, you must know who they are, correct? I know your channel is fairly new, but you would be amazed at the wonderful music that is being made in South Korea for a long time now. Specially KPoP, that is a whole universe to itself, which I've been into for many years now. The music that is being created there, the choreography, the videos, the live performances beat anything being done here. KPoP, among those who follow it, is very popular here in the U.S. But is very little played on the radio, that is why a lot of people don't know what it is. KPoP has a huge following in U.S. (California, New York, Florida, Georgia), South America, & various countries in Europe. Even the Grammys are ignoring just how good KPoP's #1 group, BTS, is. Which has stirred up a lot of backlash at the Grammys. They keep on giving Grammys to the same boring artists. The KPoP groups always put 100% into their performances. KPoP is a mixture of soul, rock, jazz, hip hop & sometimes even classical. The songs have "clean lyrics", if you know what I mean. If you delve into South Korean music, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Another group that harmonize beautifully is from China, The Super Vocal Boys. They even did a performance with Dimash of a Queen medley. You should look that up & react to it, you will love it!!
Thank you for reacting forestella 🥰 they are opera singers 🥰 you should listen Hijo de la Luna 🥰 Scarborough fair is an old song from Simon and Garfunkel 🥰
INFO: Forestella are indeed a south korean group, however they are called a crossover group., They cross over all boundaries of music, genres, countries in different languages, I have heard them latin, french, english, korean. They are known for their harmonies as they have even sang Lady Gaga - Bad Romance as well, even queen's bohemian rapsody. They can turn a song with their harmonies and make is breathtaking to listen to. The song scarborough fair I remember falling in love with when I was a teen the version by simon & garfunkel released in 1968. They first became known from a singing competition called Phantom Singer all 4 singers were grouped together they also see each other about 360 out of 365 days a year according to the boys. They then went on a popular korean show which is translated in english for those who watch it, called Immortal Songs, you either win the round or win the competition of the day. They hold the record for never loosing a first win. They also hold the record in that show of 5 king of king championship trophies for their songs and harmonies.
Hi~ Thanks for your reaction to FORESTELLA. For those who do not know about FORESTELLA, I'd love to tell you about this group briefly. They've met at a TV audition program called "Phantom Singer 2" which finds the best male cross-over quartet in South Korea in 2017 for the first time. These 4 guys were included(survived) in the final 12 singers among hundreds of applicants. And, the program PD divided those 12 amazing singers into 3 groups as the singers want. And, guess what? They(FORESTELLA = Forest + Stella(star)) won this contest!!! When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this. The first one from the left side is Ko Woo-Rim(bass, a grad-schooler in vocal music), the second one is Kang Hyeong-Ho(soprano, ex-chemist researcher), the third one is Cho Min-Kyu(tenor, M.A. degree in vocal music) and the fourth one is Bae Doo-Hoon(tenor, musical actor) There're many amazing songs they've covered. I wanna recommend "just a few" songs in the below. If you live in outside of S.Korea, some videos might not be seen, though. "Scarborough Fair" is a traditional English folk song from the Middle Ages, referring to an old fair in Scarborough, Yorkshire. This soundtrack became very popular after the movie The Graduates starring Dustin Hoffman and was sung by Paul Simon & Art Gartfunkel.
You'll find many stories on the origins of this song, however being over 500 years old it's hard to say what part of the UK it originated in or if it was an amalgamation of a number of songs at that time, however "Scarborough Fair," popularised in the United States by the 1960s singer-songwriting duo Simon & Garfunkel, is an English folk song about a market fair that took place in the town of Scarborough in Yorkshire during medieval times. Like any fair, it attracted traders, entertainers and food vendors, along with other hangers-on. The fair peaked in the late 14th century but continued to operate until the end of the 1700s. Now, several fairs are held in remembrance of the original. The lyrics for "Scarborough Fair" talk about unrequited love. A young man requests impossible tasks from his lover, saying that if she can perform them, he will take her back. In return, she requests impossible things of him, saying she will perform her tasks when he performs his. It's possible that this tune was derived from a Scottish song called "The Elfin Knight" (Child Ballad No. 2), wherein an elf kidnaps a woman and tells her that, unless she can do these impossible things, he will keep her as his lover. The use of the herbs "parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme" in the lyrics has been debated and discussed. It's possible that they were just put there as a placeholder, as people forgot what the original line was. In traditional folk music, songs grew and evolved over time, as they were passed down through the oral tradition. That's the reason there are so many versions of so many old folk songs, and possibly why these herbs have become such a prominent part of the verse. However, herbalists will tell you of the symbolism and functions of herbs in healing and health maintenance. There's also a possibility that these meanings were intended as the song evolved (parsley for comfort or to remove bitterness, sage for strength, thyme for courage, rosemary for love). There's some speculation that these four herbs were used in a tonic of some sort. Paul Simon learned the song in 1965 while visiting British folk singer Martin Carthy in London. Art Garfunkel adapted the arrangement, integrating elements of another song Simon had written called "Canticle," which in turn was adapted from yet another Simon song, "The Side of a Hill." The pair added some anti-war lyrics that reflected the times. Simon & Garfunkel gave Carthy no credit on their recording for the arrangement of a traditional folk song, and Carthy accused Simon of stealing his work. Many years later, Simon settled the issue with Carthy, and in 2000 they performed together in London. 😉👍
'Tell her to make me a cambric shirt, Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, Without any seam or needlework, And then she'll be a true love of mine.' Meaning of cambric: it is a very fine woven plain cloth, so the person wants the finest weave into a one piece shirt, plain and free of any seaming, stitching, or decoration.
I know you are "country" fans, but you have to have heard this song before especially if you lived thru the 70's, even if you didn't hear it on the radio, it has been in the soundtracks of movies.
Forestella's original new song is out. Not a cover. 포레스텔라(Forestella) 'White Night (백야)' M/V / 포레스텔라 Forestella th-cam.com/video/pOVNGANwcrk/w-d-xo.html
This is a very famous Korean weekly TV competition show among talentd, not necessarily famous, Korean singers singing the worldly famous "immortal songs". Forestella gained their fame mainly through this competition show and now becoming themselves "world famous".

Stay safe and have a great one, everybody! 😊

SCARBOROUGH FAIR is one of the theme songs of Dustin Hoffman's film Graduation It's a famous theme song with The sound of silence.
Sitting here in shock that you do not know Scarborough Fair.
Are you familiar with Simon and Garfunkel?
Shaking my head.
Keep shaking, I have heard of them but to be honest they were kind of before my time. I was born 1971.
You'll find many stories on the origins of this song, however being over 500 years old it's hard to say what part of the UK it originated in or if it was an amalgamation of a number of songs at that time, however
"Scarborough Fair," popularised in the United States by the 1960s singer-songwriting duo Simon & Garfunkel, is an English folk song about a market fair that took place in the town of Scarborough in Yorkshire during medieval times.
Art Garfunkel adapted the arrangement, integrating elements of another song Simon had written called "Canticle," which in turn was adapted from yet another Simon song, "The Side of a Hill."
The pair added some anti-war lyrics that reflected the times.
Simon & Garfunkel gave Carthy no credit on their recording for the arrangement of a traditional folk song, and Carthy accused Simon of stealing his work. Many years later, Simon settled the issue with Carthy, and in 2000 they performed together in London. 😉👍
Wonderful🎉

@@밀키스-y8j 한때 길 다니는게 겁나지 않냐는 우스갯소리 많이 들었어요 ㅎ
Scarborough Fair was originally done by Simon and Garfunkel!!!
'Tell her to make me a cambric shirt, Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, Without any seam or needlework, And then she'll be a true love of mine.'
Meaning of cambric: it is a very fine woven plain cloth, so the person wants the finest weave into a one piece shirt, plain and free of any seaming, stitching, or decoration.

I know you are "country" fans, but you have to have heard this song before especially if you lived thru the 70's, even if you didn't hear it on the radio, it has been in the soundtracks of movies.
Maybe but honestly we can't recall it.
