Beautiful views and interesting clouds today. Bonus points for the Kendron Flume. Thanks for sharing once again.

On my only overnight backpacking trip in the mid 1990s, I went on Kendron Flume and stayed at Ethan Pond. Explored the Shoal Pond area in the rain but enjoyed every minute except for camping. It was a cold and wet night. Afterwards, we went up the Willey Ladders which were tricky then too with missing rungs and went out to Tom and back the way we came. Lots of memories. Gray Jays on Willey were fun. On Field, there was another group taking a group photo with a camera on a timer sitting on a tall stump. Just a second before the timer went off, a gray jay landed next to the camera and everybody panicked. I have always wanted to see that photo and the expressions on the faces. I actually met someone who would become my girlfriend years later on the trail between Field and Tom. It did not work in the long term but we climbed Zealand together and she was just a few mountains short of the NH 4,000 footers. I also learned postholing on Field one mid May one year in deep soft snow. That range has been good to me. Your videos are very meaningful to me. So many adventures which bring back my stories. Best days of my life have been in the White Mountains. My Dad took us down the Kancamaugus Highway shortly after it was opened around 1960 or so. Loved the mountains every since. We drove through Crawford Notch as they were rebuilding and widening the road through there about the same year. It was all dirt and oiled. Thank you.

It is too bad the past views from Tom are all grown in now.

I’m so glad you enjoy them. I considered not even shooting a video since it’s kind of a standard route that we’ve done several times, but then I remembered that these are for me and my future self and decided that even if nobody else cares, I’ll have it for future reminiscing.
I love to hear your stories, too!❤️

Love all your videos. You show so many interesting places and each one is a treasure that I enjoy. I like seeing the trail itself and you are always going to places that I would like to see again and I see how places have changed in the last 25 to 30 years. Some of the changes are dramatic like the top of Field and Tom. And I love the bushwhack videos in the way out of the standard places. I wish that I could do what you do as it brings back so many pleasant memories. My best days were days spent out in the mountains. Even in my best hiking years (the 1990s) I could never do some of the routes that you have done. The Great Gulf Wilderness videos are awesome! I never ever hiked in there. And I am seeing so many places that I wish that I could see again. You and Jonathan are the best! Thank you for your videos. The first thing I do every morning is to check whether you posted. LOL.

Wonder why they only fixed a few rungs on the ladders. Doesn’t look that much better than I remember from a few years ago. Guess they can’t make it too easy and keep it on the Terrifying 25 list.😀
