Superb video just bought one of these for my Glock 36 .45 cal… I added the belt tie downs on both sides plus I bought an extra set of round metal screw posts for the remaining extra shoulder strap holes… thanks for posting this👍
A buddy had one years ago and was frustrated trying to fit it. Long story short he threw all the pieces in a box and sent to me. Took some time but 5 years later I’m still using it. Good info video Chief.
Excellent tutorial on an often difficult topic in getting a shoulder rig properly adjusted. Carried a shoulder rig often in criminal investigations, excellent when at the desk or in the vehicle and long stake outs in the vehicle as an example. I still carry in a shoulder rig now and then, but for office or vehicle use I find these outstanding as they do not become inhibited by seat belts and chairs.
Nice rig HR! Galco is premium stuff. Once I was at a gun show and I wanted to also pick up a gift for a friend. I saw one vender had a similar used Galco shoulder rig. The problem was that the snaps for the retention strap were broken. I asked what he wanted and he said $10!!! So I bought it and took it to an acquaintance who was skilled with leather work. He was able to replace the snap and make it good as new. So for $10 and the price of a new snap I was able to give my friend a great holster. I have to confess though, I was tempted to say nothing to him and keep it for myself.😄
I have a friend who with his brothers own a very historic gunship and he packs one of these holsters with a custom finished old model Charter Arms 2" under his work shirt, thin person and you never could tell it was there. I was impressed enough I got myself one a few years ago and while it is for the j frame Smith it seems to work well with the Colt D frame, in fact wearing mine now with a Colt Cobra 2" .38 Special.
I like them alot too, they have a cool factor that can't be beat and are far more comfortable, imo, than any other carry option. I just can't find a super minimalist one with no mag pouches, thin yet strong leather/nylon combo and a more vertical carry position with a pant strap on the bottom of the holster for small pistols like the sig 365xl (my newest carry option). This one is close but it is horizontal carry and the holster is not custom molded or modular (and looks kinda junky). I'd like one that allows me to attach a kydex holster to it so I don't have to faff with a button strap retention system. I'm pretty handy so I may buy something like this and try to mod it. I'd like a system where I can carry the thing under a light button up without much printing for all weather.
Just inherited my dads Galco classic for the 1911. Pretty much the same as yours in set up. Gonna take some getting used to since I've always carried 4 oclock. I mean zero disrespect in this comment....that being said....as a gun guy I will smell a brother who is packing a mile off in a vest like that lol! In all honesty....It would make me quite happy to know I wasn't the the only wolf waiting for the mongrels to come. On the inherited stuff from my dad....I'd swap it all in a second to have more healthy time with him. We've not been able to get range time in about 4 years.
Thanks for another great video! But I'm wondering how easy it is to drop an empty magazine, access a fresh one from the magazine pouch, and load it into the pistol. It's the accessing part that seems like it might be a bit awkward.

Thank you for the video, Sir. I also have a Jackass model I got a couple of years ago (but only recently started using) and it also came with brass hardware. Your comment made me check the Galco website and indeed all shoulder systems are now pictured with the plastic fasteners. A bit disappointing, so I’m glad for mine. The Jackass comes with a leather holsters as you know, so the initial fit was a bit tight, which is an issue when drawing, but it has loosen up since. I also wear mine a bit higher into the armpit, so I don’t have the problem of the system shifting, nor I need retention straps. As you said, the loaded extra magazine (2 in the Jackass) provides balance to the system. One last thing regarding trimming the ends, you could lineup the last hole of the strap with the hole you wish to keep and trace the contour of the bitter end on the strap for a more clean cut. I have several Galco M C Lites. Although the suede finish make them a bit less “flashy” than some of the $300 full grain shiny holsters, they are incredibly comfortable and well-made. And I have some of those high dollar shoulder AND Alaskan Diamond D chest holsters that are the Ferrari of chest holsters ( I have 3 of them ) I highly endorse both these holsters.
I use a shoulder holster for a .357 Magnum revolver. The rig has two pouches for speedloaders, but I also mounted a 2x2x2 pouch on the straps. I carry a folding knife with a pocket clip and my badge/holder on the strap also. These are easily concealed by the cover garment and I don't notice the extra weight.
Excellent review. You were one step ahead of me and answered all my questions as they popped into my head. I've always liked shoulder holsters and have used a cross-draw for years as it's easier and more comfortable. I think a modification that might be worth considering would be to change the mag holder to use a Neomag holder. You wouldn't have to snap and unsnap to access the mag.
Yes, you would probably have to cut the strap or tuck it in, and also make sure the clip had a purchase to hold onto. It would make withdrawing the mag much faster though, and be just as secure.
The versatility of the holster makes it a good value for someone that uses different guns. The only issue might be; long hours of use. The narrow belts might be less comfortable than wider ones; that transfer the gun’s weight over a larger area of the shoulder. I have been using a band style holster that works using a button up shirt. It conceals the gun without the need for a jacket and still works wearing coats as well. You are able to position the gun in different places and it is still comfortable to carry a full size pistols. If you like wearing loose fitting Hawaiian shirts; you are in like Flynn. You just open one button of the shirt and you have quick access to the gun. Newer models than mine have more options; if I decide to carry a gun; this all I use; and just dress appropriately. Fact is; if you use one system that works you get faster using it. It reduces time, movement and enables fast access sitting down or standing while wearing summer or winter clothes. I learned this from a little elderly lady entering a gun show many years ago. A security officer asked her if she was carrying a loaded firearm. She said yes; opened one button of her dress and made Colt Cobra appear instantly. Her son made them; I bought three for good measure. Granny made a believer out of me.
Excellent detailed review of a classic holster rig! BTW, I have a Safariland suede lined duty belt holster bought back in 1982 that has been very kind to the finish on my Berreta 92, and both the Pistol and Holster have seen a lot of use.
This has rapidly become one of my most used holsters after receiving it as a Christmas gift. Mine is made for a Glock 26/19/17, but I have noticed that it also fit my S&W Shield when the holster was new. I'm sure if I carried my Glock 19 in it daily it would stretch a bit so that the Shield would be a bit loose, but for now either one of them works. I live in South Florida where an oversized "fishing shirt" worn over a tee shirt is common daily attire. I find this a very comfortable way to carry a significant handgun and a spare magazine, even on hot days. I'm still trying to decide if I want to use my G19 or my Shield as my daily carry in this holster.
Great video, not a huge fan of shoulder holsters myself but they definitely have a place and it's nice to see a video on them and my favorites the S&W Auto's. Also must say I'm amused by the shirt button pop when we come back from the table and hands. Never thought I'd see the day when HR showed some skin!
That was actually a "wardrobe malfunction". That's a new shirt, and this was the first time I'd worn it. Somewhere during the putting on and taking off of the holster, that snap in the middle of the shirt actually broke. I, of course, didn't see that until after I finished recording the video.

I have always had good luck with the Galco vertical holster system. I have always been worried that the snap would come undone and have the pistol fall out. The vertical system with a strap across the back to keep it from moving when you bend over works perfect. The strap goes from the bottom of the holster to the bottom of the mag carrier. I get mine used off of Ebay. Mine were both like new and shipped for about $70.
That's a good place to look for used holsters. My other favorite place is the dusty box in the back corner of most gun shops. You can usually buy them for next to nothing and some of them are almost new.
I love this holster I bought my leather Galco 15 years ago cost 50$ today it's 199$ Anyways I use it all the time I'm in vegas and summer is 115+ and I wear it wearing swim trunks and a parachute material button down very light shirt. I carry my kimber micro 9 and my ruger security 9...I always knocked shoulder holsters till I tried my buddy's and I was hooked omg so dam comfortable no more bulky gun belt no pinching no shirt ridding up high no pants pulling down no nothing. There extremely comfortable you don't even know your wearing it. If you are a tee shirt guy then not gona work but if you wear those extremely light fishing shirts button down then go for one you'll love it I never wear iwb or owb holsters anymore. Try one on at a big box gun store and you'll see. I never thought I would wear one thought they were Miami vice old style but boy was I wrong. I'm 6'4" 270 pounds and it beats any in the waist holster. I feel asleep in mine many a time sitting on the couch...great video
I use a Galco Lite (S&W Shield) and a Miami Classic (1911) and wear the pistol a bit higher up under the armpit. It doesn't flop around as much carried higher.
Pssst... Your shirt is unbuttoned, Chief. :) I just bought a vertical shoulder holster for my Model 686+, and it’s great. I drive a Miata 99% of the time, and most waist holsters are difficult to reach in that car. So you think this would be safe for a gun without a manual safety? I'm thinking about a shoulder rig for my glock but I do worry about how pliable that holster looks and if it is safe for a gun without a manual safety
Great video. I personally can’t use a shoulder holster. I’m a big guy I wheelchair. It’s fine sitting still like in the vehicle, but once I start rolling around it gets annoying. My other gripe about a shoulder holster is you have a great chance to flag people during a stressful draw. With a waist draw you drastically lower that.
Just bought the Miami classic from Galco. I got the bigger harness and the belt connections as well. Mine is for my currently Unfired Colt Python with the Wilson Combat white gold front and rear sights. I disagree with the premise these holsters are cheap however. Mine was over 400 bucks. It’ll be here Monday.

Would you consider doing a follow-up range or dryfire review that focuses on the draw-and-presentation dynamics of a shoulder system? I'm a new and very inexperienced shooter, currently working with a OWB kydex holster as my starting point. What struck me as you demonstrated in slow motion the draw and presentation is...it *seems* more complex and potentially slower than a hip or appendix draw. Obviously, a practice discipline can make it faster. But I'd be interested in your analysis based on your range experience. Thanks again.
@@hrfunk Loved your presentation and pretty thorough instruction. Akin to john's comment, it seems challenging to find authoritative instruction on drawing AND Reloading from a shoulder holster rig. I carried two different methods/rigs for a fairly long time... Butt up for a long barrel (practically vertical) and the other shorter one was slightly canted butt down -which I loved. If you do such a video as you mention, please consider not only various methods of carry, but also methods for RELOADING from shoulder-side-accessory carry. Seems there's not much instruction o that. Never took any stock of the disdain shoulder holsters generally receive - seems to be about the muzzle sweep while drawing. That may be so on a range, but it really isn't a valid issue anywhere else. I think it's more about body shape - if you're an athletic build, a shoulder rig IMO is more comfortable, especially if you're active (walking a lot). I've had a Jackass 1911 rig for years, and just got a Triple K Ultra for the Beretta 92FS. A shoulder rig is the only way I can carry my Smith M29 comfortably for any length of time.
Instead of cutting off any strap material you may want to use a leather punch and punch an exact size hole lining up with the end of strap hole and using a Chicago screw to secure the end of the strap. Chicago screws can be obtained from many different sources, and they have a black Chicago screw assortments on Amazon!!!
I've always had a great appreciation of the Galco shoulder systems... since before they even became Galco in fact. I had a second-hand Jackass Leather rig (now the Galco Jackass) for my first pistol, back in the mid-80's. Super comfortable to wear. Being a smaller guy though, and a bit wide through the chest for my build, shoulder rigs have never concealed well for me except under the bulkiest of cover garments. They usually leave me looking like I'm trying to smuggle a puppy under my jacket! I guess one advantage of having a badge would be that in day to day carry, the necessity for really absolute concealment is somewhat lessened. Say, have you done an LE qual course for the channel with that 1076 yet? If not, that's one I would LOVE to see as a challenger.
I think for a bodyguard or detective who wears a suit or maybe plainclothes these are great if you are going to leave it on all day..I wore one with 1911 in 80s in 2nd AD..It will contour and get more comfy as you break it in,perfect for you..
I work in an office that is somewhat casual. I wear jeans and a tucked in button up shirt. I would like to carry. If I wore an undershirt do you think I would be able to carry a shoulder rig under my outer shirt?

HR IMO you should of upgraded to the leather system , i really like mine , but I was setting mine up for a heavier weapon ,the tie down straps are a must have
I believe the best practice when it comes to drawing your side arm no matter the holster is simply a discipline trigger finger keep it off the trigger until you are ready to fire cause no there is simply no telling what position or what you are going to be fighting off when you are drawing so you can’t always draw the way you prefer or practice but you can practice where you trigger finger is.
Galco classic is a good rig but I prefer the old Bianchi Scorpio rig because it has wider straps. The wider straps makes it more comfortable for all day carry with a full size pistol. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore and you have to hunt them down on sites like eBay.
Last week i picked up 3 Galco shoulder holsters for $45.00! One says Jackass on the connect points, so Jackass Rig, P226 fits it. The other 2 i believe are Miami classics?, zero markings other than Galco. Both looked very similar to each other but one wouldn't fit the P226. It did fit in the Jackass great but the mags wont snap shut, only ONE snap. Gun and mags fit in one of the "miami" ones that has 2 snaps on the double mag holder. So I got one that fits gun/mags and a Jackass setup that fits the gun but not the mags. I returned the one that didnt fit and the woman refunded me. A private seller. When I went home and seen they cost upwards of 200$ (these are leather ones with metal screws). I wish I didn't return the non fitting one. I'm sure I could've traded or sold it for more than the 15$. I got lucky. I offered 10$ each she said 15$. I had figured 40$ New. Lol. No. No. 200$ new. Yes, I'm new to shoulder holsters. Beginners luck. Does the miami classic have miami classic on it like the Jackass one does everywhere on connect points?
I don’t think so. I believe they are only identified on their packaging. There should, however, be a number stamped on the underside of the holster that identifies which pistol it fits. The number is in the form of a code, and you can find a corresponding chart on the Galco website.
@@hrfunk yes, i've looked up all the #s on all the pieces I grabbed, that's how I know the say...Galco #292 can fit Sig p226 etc. Just cant really tell if it was part of this shoulder holster or miami2, jackass etc. Same with the mags like SCL28B or another is A1403 etc.

thanks for the review. id add traditional clips on both sides to secure on the sides of panths. this would eliminate any wobble except for when you sit down and loosen the straps. you could even do it yourself.
I’m a fat guy so nothing around the belt area works for me. The shoulder holster is the way to go for comfort, concealability and fast and accurate access

HR - Good morning. FWIW, I thought this was a truly outstanding instructional video: thorough, very clear, with excellent imagery to accompany the straightforward and lucid narrative. BZ! However, here’s a question. For folks who live in quite warm and humid venues and might want to use this system frequently, do you believe a sweat-guard is necessary of desirable (especially since suede isn’t as impervious to moisture as is cowhide or especially horses hide)? If so, could a heavy duty plastic baggie be altered and inserted into the holster, perhaps with a little adhesive on the baggie’s exterior?
I use an older "jackass" periodically when I opt to carry my SR1911. It's just a matter of getting the draw down a good option for cold weather carry under a jacket or thick flannel.

I've looked at a lot of shoulder holster for my 1911 . The one that I have now is an Alien Gear shapeshift. So far it's the best one yet. made in the U S A . Check them out when you have the time.

There is this big stigma in the so-called “gun community” about wearing a shoulder rig. you know....the guys that think you could solve every problem with an AR (but when was the last time you slung an AR to take a walk to the local 7-Eleven?) living in an urban environment a shoulder rig is the best way to carry. I could draw with the support hand if necessary, the best weapon retention if it comes in close and you have to go for your knife, you could draw your weapon in any position if you are forced to the ground with either hand and most importantly it is the best in a carjacking situation. so go ahead guys thumb your nose to it....but those of us who actually live in hell only care about what really works👍
I'm subscribed and like your videos but damn that holster seems way to flimsy and pliable, I wouldn't use that. I have a Galco miami classic that I use and like. In the video you noticed your holster leaned towards the heavier gun side, the way I solved that issue was to GET RID OF THE MAG CARRIER AND PUT AN IDENTICAL PISTOL ON THE MAG SIDE MAKING IT A DUAL GUN SHOULDER HOLSTER. TRY IT ONCE AND YOU WILL NEVER RUN ANYTHING BUT A DUAL GUN RIG !

Suede seems like a less than ideal finish for this particular holster in as much as it is a little more grippy than a smooth finish. I think this would hinder concealment.

It’s not really difficult, but it’s not as fast or fluid as reloading from a belt pouch.

I have several Galco M C Lites. Although the suede finish make them a bit less “flashy” than some of the $300 full grain shiny holsters, they are incredibly comfortable and well-made.
And I have some of those high dollar shoulder AND Alaskan Diamond D chest holsters that are the Ferrari of chest holsters ( I have 3 of them )
I highly endorse both these holsters.
I use a shoulder holster for a .357 Magnum revolver. The rig has two pouches for speedloaders, but I also mounted a 2x2x2 pouch on the straps. I carry a folding knife with a pocket clip and my badge/holder on the strap also. These are easily concealed by the cover garment and I don't notice the extra weight.
Good shoulder holsters do a great job of distributing the weight of your firearm, ammunition, and other gear.
Yeah, I have this one for my 686 combat magnum. Need one for my Colt series 80 government model.

I've always liked shoulder holsters and have used a cross-draw for years as it's easier and more comfortable.
I think a modification that might be worth considering would be to change the mag holder to use a Neomag holder. You wouldn't have to snap and unsnap to access the mag.

Yes, you would probably have to cut the strap or tuck it in, and also make sure the clip had a purchase to hold onto. It would make withdrawing the mag much faster though, and be just as secure.
The versatility of the holster makes it a good value for someone that uses different guns. The only issue might be; long hours of use. The narrow belts might be less comfortable than wider ones; that transfer the gun’s weight over a larger area of the shoulder. I have been using a band style holster that works using a button up shirt. It conceals the gun without the need for a jacket and still works wearing coats as well. You are able to position the gun in different places and it is still comfortable to carry a full size pistols. If you like wearing loose fitting Hawaiian shirts; you are in like Flynn. You just open one button of the shirt and you have quick access to the gun. Newer models than mine have more options; if I decide to carry a gun; this all I use; and just dress appropriately. Fact is; if you use one system that works you get faster using it. It reduces time, movement and enables fast access sitting down or standing while wearing summer or winter clothes. I learned this from a little elderly lady entering a gun show many years ago. A security officer asked her if she was carrying a loaded firearm. She said yes; opened one button of her dress and made Colt Cobra appear instantly. Her son made them; I bought three for good measure. Granny made a believer out of me.

back in 1982 that has been very kind to the finish on my
Berreta 92, and both the Pistol and Holster have seen a lot of use.
The only issue I've had over the years with some of the older Safariland holsters is a tendency for the imitation leather to crack.

This has rapidly become one of my most used holsters after receiving it as a Christmas gift. Mine is made for a Glock 26/19/17, but I have noticed that it also fit my S&W Shield when the holster was new. I'm sure if I carried my Glock 19 in it daily it would stretch a bit so that the Shield would be a bit loose, but for now either one of them works. I live in South Florida where an oversized "fishing shirt" worn over a tee shirt is common daily attire.
I find this a very comfortable way to carry a significant handgun and a spare magazine, even on hot days. I'm still trying to decide if I want to use my G19 or my Shield as my daily carry in this holster.

Great video, not a huge fan of shoulder holsters myself but they definitely have a place and it's nice to see a video on them and my favorites the S&W Auto's. Also must say I'm amused by the shirt button pop when we come back from the table and hands. Never thought I'd see the day when HR showed some skin!
That was actually a "wardrobe malfunction". That's a new shirt, and this was the first time I'd worn it. Somewhere during the putting on and taking off of the holster, that snap in the middle of the shirt actually broke. I, of course, didn't see that until after I finished recording the video.

I have always had good luck with the Galco vertical holster system. I have always been worried that the snap would come undone and have the pistol fall out. The vertical system with a strap across the back to keep it from moving when you bend over works perfect. The strap goes from the bottom of the holster to the bottom of the mag carrier. I get mine used off of Ebay. Mine were both like new and shipped for about $70.
That's a good place to look for used holsters. My other favorite place is the dusty box in the back corner of most gun shops. You can usually buy them for next to nothing and some of them are almost new.
I love this holster I bought my leather Galco 15 years ago cost 50$ today it's 199$ Anyways I use it all the time I'm in vegas and summer is 115+ and I wear it wearing swim trunks and a parachute material button down very light shirt. I carry my kimber micro 9 and my ruger security 9...I always knocked shoulder holsters till I tried my buddy's and I was hooked omg so dam comfortable no more bulky gun belt no pinching no shirt ridding up high no pants pulling down no nothing. There extremely comfortable you don't even know your wearing it. If you are a tee shirt guy then not gona work but if you wear those extremely light fishing shirts button down then go for one you'll love it I never wear iwb or owb holsters anymore. Try one on at a big box gun store and you'll see. I never thought I would wear one thought they were Miami vice old style but boy was I wrong. I'm 6'4" 270 pounds and it beats any in the waist holster. I feel asleep in mine many a time sitting on the couch...great video

I use a Galco Lite (S&W Shield) and a Miami Classic (1911) and wear the pistol a bit higher up under the armpit. It doesn't flop around as much carried higher.

I drive a Miata 99% of the time, and most waist holsters are difficult to reach in that car. It covers the trigger, which is essentially the “safety” on a Glock. I think it would be fine.

Great video. I personally can’t use a shoulder holster. I’m a big guy I wheelchair. It’s fine sitting still like in the vehicle, but once I start rolling around it gets annoying. My other gripe about a shoulder holster is you have a great chance to flag people during a stressful draw. With a waist draw you drastically lower that.
Just bought the Miami classic from Galco. I got the bigger harness and the belt connections as well.
Mine is for my currently Unfired Colt Python with the Wilson Combat white gold front and rear sights.
I disagree with the premise these holsters are cheap however.
Mine was over 400 bucks.

Would you consider doing a follow-up range or dryfire review that focuses on the draw-and-presentation dynamics of a shoulder system? I'm a new and very inexperienced shooter, currently working with a OWB kydex holster as my starting point. What struck me as you demonstrated in slow motion the draw and presentation is...it *seems* more complex and potentially slower than a hip or appendix draw. Obviously, a practice discipline can make it faster. But I'd be interested in your analysis based on your range experience. Thanks again.

Akin to john's comment, it seems challenging to find authoritative instruction on drawing AND Reloading from a shoulder holster rig. I carried two different methods/rigs for a fairly long time... Butt up for a long barrel (practically vertical) and the other shorter one was slightly canted butt down -which I loved.
If you do such a video as you mention, please consider not only various methods of carry, but also methods for RELOADING from shoulder-side-accessory carry. Seems there's not much instruction o that.

For this time of year, under winter clothes, that big 92 should conceal quite well.
Never took any stock of the disdain shoulder holsters generally receive - seems to be about the muzzle sweep while drawing. That may be so on a range, but it really isn't a valid issue anywhere else. I think it's more about body shape - if you're an athletic build, a shoulder rig IMO is more comfortable, especially if you're active (walking a lot). I've had a Jackass 1911 rig for years, and just got a Triple K Ultra for the Beretta 92FS. A shoulder rig is the only way I can carry my Smith M29 comfortably for any length of time.

Instead of cutting off any strap material you may want to use a leather punch and punch an exact size hole lining up with the end of strap hole and using a Chicago screw to secure the end of the strap. Chicago screws can be obtained from many different sources, and they have a black Chicago screw assortments on Amazon!!!

I've always had a great appreciation of the Galco shoulder systems... since before they even became Galco in fact. I had a second-hand Jackass Leather rig (now the Galco Jackass) for my first pistol, back in the mid-80's. Super comfortable to wear. Being a smaller guy though, and a bit wide through the chest for my build, shoulder rigs have never concealed well for me except under the bulkiest of cover garments. They usually leave me looking like I'm trying to smuggle a puppy under my jacket! I guess one advantage of having a badge would be that in day to day carry, the necessity for really absolute concealment is somewhat lessened.
Say, have you done an LE qual course for the channel with that 1076 yet? If not, that's one I would LOVE to see as a challenger.

I think for a bodyguard or detective who wears a suit or maybe plainclothes these are great if you are going to leave it on all day..I wore one with 1911 in 80s in 2nd AD..It will contour and get more comfy as you break it in,perfect for you..

I work in an office that is somewhat casual. I wear jeans and a tucked in button up shirt. I would like to carry. If I wore an undershirt do you think I would be able to carry a shoulder rig under my outer shirt?
Unless your shirt is very loose a shoulder rig is probably going to print. You might be better off going with a belly band.

Thanks for the video! The thumb retention strap on my holster for the Sig 365XL is very, very tight. How can I stretch that strap to make it close more easily?
I have stretched leather thumb straps by simply pulling on them. It might take some work, but they will loosen in time.

A big plus to a shoulder holster system is no fooling with your rig when doing sit down restroom business.
HR IMO you should of upgraded to the leather system , i really like mine , but I was setting mine up for a heavier weapon ,the tie down straps are a must have
The Jackass rig I have is for my 1911's, and I really like it. For the 469, I think the carry lite will work just fine.
I believe the best practice when it comes to drawing your side arm no matter the holster is simply a discipline trigger finger keep it off the trigger until you are ready to fire cause no there is simply no telling what position or what you are going to be fighting off when you are drawing so you can’t always draw the way you prefer or practice but you can practice where you trigger finger is.
Galco classic is a good rig but I prefer the old Bianchi Scorpio rig because it has wider straps. The wider straps makes it more comfortable for all day carry with a full size pistol. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore and you have to hunt them down on sites like eBay.
A lot of classic holsters have gone that way over the years. At least we can still search the net for used ones.

Last week i picked up 3 Galco shoulder holsters for $45.00! One says Jackass on the connect points, so Jackass Rig, P226 fits it. The other 2 i believe are Miami classics?, zero markings other than Galco. Both looked very similar to each other but one wouldn't fit the P226. It did fit in the Jackass great but the mags wont snap shut, only ONE snap. Gun and mags fit in one of the "miami" ones that has 2 snaps on the double mag holder. So I got one that fits gun/mags and a Jackass setup that fits the gun but not the mags. I returned the one that didnt fit and the woman refunded me. A private seller. When I went home and seen they cost upwards of 200$ (these are leather ones with metal screws). I wish I didn't return the non fitting one. I'm sure I could've traded or sold it for more than the 15$. I got lucky. I offered 10$ each she said 15$. I had figured 40$ New. Lol. No. No. 200$ new. Yes, I'm new to shoulder holsters. Beginners luck. Does the miami classic have miami classic on it like the Jackass one does everywhere on connect points?
I don’t think so. I believe they are only identified on their packaging. There should, however, be a number stamped on the underside of the holster that identifies which pistol it fits. The number is in the form of a code, and you can find a corresponding chart on the Galco website.
@@hrfunk yes, i've looked up all the #s on all the pieces I grabbed, that's how I know the say...Galco #292 can fit Sig p226 etc. Just cant really tell if it was part of this shoulder holster or miami2, jackass etc. Same with the mags like SCL28B or another is A1403 etc.

thanks for the review. id add traditional clips on both sides to secure on the sides of panths. this would eliminate any wobble except for when you sit down and loosen the straps. you could even do it yourself.

However, here’s a question. For folks who live in quite warm and humid venues and might want to use this system frequently, do you believe a sweat-guard is necessary of desirable (especially since suede isn’t as impervious to moisture as is cowhide or especially horses hide)? If so, could a heavy duty plastic baggie be altered and inserted into the holster, perhaps with a little adhesive on the baggie’s exterior?
Probably. For myself, I just switch to an alternate carry method during warmer months.

I would like to find one for a Taurus Raging Hunter with 8 3/8” barrel. This thing shoots like a rifle at 110 yards.

I use an older "jackass" periodically when I opt to carry my SR1911. It's just a matter of getting the draw down a good option for cold weather carry under a jacket or thick flannel.
I like the Jackass rig too, but I think the Classic lite is actually a bit more comfortable.

I try to keep an eye on it, but I was moving around a lot while making this video.
There is this big stigma in the so-called “gun community” about wearing a shoulder rig. you know....the guys that think you could solve every problem with an AR (but when was the last time you slung an AR to take a walk to the local 7-Eleven?) living in an urban environment a shoulder rig is the best way to carry. I could draw with the support hand if necessary, the best weapon retention if it comes in close and you have to go for your knife, you could draw your weapon in any position if you are forced to the ground with either hand and most importantly it is the best in a carjacking situation. so go ahead guys thumb your nose to it....but those of us who actually live in hell only care about what really works👍

Can we see this in action by running a police qualification video with this rig?
Maybe, I'll look over the remaining courses I have and see if any of them lend themselves to a shoulder rig.

I have a Galco miami classic that I use and like.
In the video you noticed your holster leaned towards the heavier gun side, the way I solved that issue was to GET RID OF THE MAG CARRIER AND PUT AN IDENTICAL PISTOL ON THE MAG SIDE MAKING IT A DUAL GUN SHOULDER HOLSTER.
TRY IT ONCE AND YOU WILL NEVER RUN ANYTHING BUT A DUAL GUN RIG !

Suede seems like a less than ideal finish for this particular holster in as much as it is a little more grippy than a smooth finish. I think this would hinder concealment.
I haven't noticed any issues with that. I think the "grippyness" helps keep it in place.

It works well, it’s comfortable and light. Since it’s also usually covered, I’m not too worried about how it looks.
