I like it looks awesome in some way's even better than the og, instructions sound like a headache building it from the parts diagram instead lol another fantastic job well done mate 👊
It is a cool and silly little thing! The instructions were not too bad but that one step was quite busy which is not normal for Tamiya to include that much into one step. The issue with the rear body mounts was a slip up on their part but pretty easy to rectify and all the parts are there to do it so inconvenient but not terrible. Hope you have a good weekend at the cabin!
I built a Comical Grasshopper last year - man did it bring back memories! My first ever RC build was the original Grasshopper, and apparently left an impression on me all these years later. The quality manual, part fitment, ordered and labeled bags - it started a new Tamiya obsession that had me build 4 more of their kits afterwards - ones I had no chance of affording as a kid in the 80's. Between the high-tempo rush of drones, the fancy planes, it was chill as heck to fire up a proper Tamiya kit and go back a couple decades.
I am glad to hear you fell back in love with them and have enjoyed building a few more since. My flying is limited to the GPS drones as they pretty much fly themselves! I get severe disorientation in the air for some reason and flying never has worked out well (disastrous may be a better word) so I stick with the ones that only leave the ground temporarily! LOL! But I totally understand sitting down with a good kit and just enjoying the build and then a relaxing run a round the yard with it afterwards! I mean I have over 200 now so it is my jam! LOL!! I am glad you enjoyed it and have a great rest of your weekend!

It was a nice one to build and I was going to get it out yesterday to drive it but I ended up running out of daylight. I know it will be hilarious watching it wheelie around and tumble around in the yard! I am already looking forward to getting the Grasshopper or the Frog as well!

The WW@ is a little more painful to watch tumble around as it takes so much time to get that body built and painted up but it is still fun!
@@AddamsPlayground Yea, I cringe every time my WW rolls over! Hey Addam, a greatly detailed video of the cool Comical Hornet, loads of information for us RC nerds 😂😊😂. It looks so cool! Perhaps the Comical Series should be the next speed run challenge 😂😊😂. Awesome as usual! Best wishes to you and the family 😎😉🖐️
Thanks John, I am glad you enjoyed it! It was a fun one to build and should be hilarious driving it as well. I meant to get out there with it today and drive it around but between two speed runs, some other RC related videos being made, house work and the kids coming over for dinner I did not get out there yet. I am sure one evening this week I will get out with it and enjoy it riding wheelies and bumbling around the yard! This would be a very interesting platform to do the speed challenges with. Not one that was ever designed or intended to go fast so it would be perfect! Take care and best wishes to you and yours as well!
I really like the 4wd ones, especially the Avante. They look so goofy but fun at the same time. They drive surprisingly good i hear. Ill have to pick one up at some point.
The Avante is the better looking over the 4wd version. The Hotshot looks a bit odd with the 5 shocks, just makes it looks odd. I saw Martin's Avante running like a chap with the long arm conversion he did on it. On the pavement it was carving corners without a care! Definitely would be a fun one to rip around!
They are even cooler and more silly in person! I will probably be getting the Grasshopper and the Frog at least as well! Those 3 appeal to me the most but once I get those then I will want the other 2 as well, I know... I have met me! lol!
You did an excellent job on the build.. I like the simple head makes life easier. The comical series is a great idea. I think one of the coolest and fun r/c videos was a race with the comical series cars. But, at a certain point on the track you had to stop and do a wheelie within a certain distance. The drivers and the audience were howling with laughter. Because some guys could and other couldn't. They would have to go back and do a wheelie. Your video is excellent. You gave a quick synopis of the build. Pointing the addendums was extremely important. and of course the build tips. I am sure a lot of people build the car and wonder what then heck is going on with the body posts?
Thanks Michael! I am glad you enjoyed it. I had a good time building it and other than the little bit of back and forth and the one big step that caught me off guard it was easy-peasy! The body posts went in there no problem but then I pushed it down and they did the splits. I thought I missed something but those little spacers were not in the instructions. I have seen some of those races and yes, they are hilarious. The CW01 races are funny too as everything seems to go really well and then complete chaos breaks out and it just repeats itself over and over again! I like the wheelie rules you mentioned, that is an added degree of difficulty for sure! Take care and have a great week!!
@@AddamsPlayground Here's an idea. If you go ahead build a collection of these comical cars, hold a fun race on your newly remodeled track for friends and family. That would be hilarious. I am a typical senior citizen I have great ideas for other people to do. Don't work too hard.
@@michaeldorich4485 LOL! I am sure another one or two of them will show up eventually. If I can get a few folks over to run them I will get them out there. None of my friends locally (except for Al at Spare Time RC) drive RCs so it is usually just me out there banging them around!
I just saw (on Instagram) someone handmade a Sand Scorcher version and it was epic looking! That would be awesome to see and the Boomerang would be a cool one too! They look so fun and happy just sitting there!
Thanks Dom! It is one I have been looking at for quite some time as well and finally got one. It should be a blast to run around, just like the WW2 is but less worries about broken body parts!

Thanks! It is a so funny to see sitting in front of you, wish I had done one sooner. I will probably pick up the Grasshopper and the Frog at least. The Avante is pretty cool but the Hotshot I have always thought looked odd with the 5 shocks on it. But it may have looked even weirder without the shock molded into the body. It is my least favorite just for the confusing look to it.
I like the rims I wish they would do them for the normal or new evo. It looks like a fun buggy I might add one to the collection. I was going to buy some orange aluminum wheels for a Hornet but they were sold out in that colour 😢
It is a cool design and they do look pretty cool. I just thought they were little snap in trim pieces but they are actually the connecting part of the wheel to the drive hex. I am kind of surprised they have not done more of this on other vehicles too. I had looked at the aluminum wheels for the Hornet and Hopper before but never pulled the trigger one either.
I was kind of the same, I was not sure and the pics don't do it justice. It is a lot more fun and silly in person! I am sure it is going to be nothing but smiles watching it wheelie and bobble around in the yard. I will get it out this weekend and get a video done of the run very soon!
I will find out soon. I am sure it is going to be bumbly-tumbly kind of like the other WR02 kits but should be a little more sure-footed than the Wild Willy2 without having the heavy hard body on it. I am sure the run video will be full of wheelies and tumbles!
I have seen a few races with them and they are hilarious. It is pure chaos and funny as it can be. There always seems to be one they is dialed in and avoids all the pile-ups and runs super well though!
So at 4:15 when u tell us that Tamiya has put a lot info into one part ? That sounds like a Kyosho manual 😂😂 I don't have one of those CB's but i do have a GF-01 and it's fun
Yeah, occasionally there are steps where it is so out of character and so many things going on it catches you off guard. It is a step where you just have to lay out everything and prepare to do it all before trying to put anything on the kit! I know it happens with all manufacturers but it is very uncommon for Tamiya. The WR02 chassis is very similar to the GF01 in the way they drive and act. Lots of wheelies and funny tumbles from time to time!
LOL, been waiting a lifetime for that one to be relevant! LOL! I totally agree it looks fun and silly just sitting there. I am sure it will be hilarious watching it do wheelie things around the yard!!
The motors are not effected by the water very much, it is more the ESC that will fry if it get wet. The motors are damaged more if they get muddy or very dirty. Leaving them exposed helps keep them running cooler.
@@AddamsPlayground i was assuming it was for keeping them cool. I just built my hornet and was thinking why didnt they at least put some kind of skid plate under just for a little protection.
Just pop the steering rods off the ball and tighten up the links. try about 3 or 4 turns on each side and see how that does. Some toe out in the front helps with steering but only a few degrees is needed. In general the rears pointing in and the front pointing out a few degrees is best for off-road use.
I know a lot of people don't like this... or any horny hornets for that matter, but I LOVE them! Are you going to get the new one coming out for the channel Addam? I'll be getting one for sure! Great video my friend.
Yeah, the comical kits are not for everyone but I love the look of them and it should be a absolute blast to drive. Much like the wild willy 2 it should be a bunch of wheelies and funny tumbles out there bumbling around the yard with it! I will be getting an Evo Hornet once they are released. I like the updated spin on the classic kit. It should drive so much better now!
They have the Hornet, the Frog, the Grasshopper, the Hotshot and the Avante. I would definitely like to get at least the Frog and the Grasshopper. I am sorry you did not enjoy the build of the Lunch Box. It is not very often the instructions are not liked. I may have put so many together I don't notice issues with them.
@@AddamsPlayground It would have been nice if it said bag A and then bag b and bag c I had to search for the parts through the bags to find what I needed I was also missing two tiny little screws
@@nomusicrc yeah, even in the kits that do that I don't use them like that. I separate everything by size and style first, then start building. I hate rummaging around in the bags looking for stuff. Plus it keeps things from rolling away! I started years ago using ice cube trays or muffin tins. Now I have some magnetic parts trays with 8, 2x2 spaces so it makes it easy to get everything in one spot.

I liked your explanation of the crazy step. Great little ride!
@@MauzyrockRC 😂, glad you liked the visual! It is unlike them to pile so many things in one step but it does happen from time to time! It is so cool and silly looking in person. It just looks fun sitting there doing nothing!
Excellent work Addam, its nice to see one of these being built for a change rather than normal Hornets etc. Look forward to the running video!
I think it was all the hoopla for the Evo kit that made me pull it off the shelf and get it built. Plus I just needed some quite build time away from everything! It is a fun and silly little thing that should be hilarious watching it wheelie all over the place! I will get it out this weekend and get some video of it being silly!
@@AddamsPlayground I'm sure when the EVO comes out TH-cam will be flooded with reviews. Not sure if I'll get one, quite like the idea of having a Hornet to go with my Hopper, but space issues, or lack of will end up deciding! Look forward to the running and hopefully it wont give Fil ideas for next years speed run challenger!
@@TonyGardnerRC I understand the space issues, I am once again faced with overcrowding here as well! I am sure once the Evo drops it will be weeks and weeks of videos on it! I can't seem to get any fast enough to beat the rush so I stopped even trying. I will get it done when it gets done, I can't fret over being first in line anymore, too stressful! LOL! Lord only knows what he will come up with for next year. My vote it trikes or 6x6 trucks!
Nice one Addam 😎😎Cool little cars the comical series, I keep looking at the Grasshopper
They are even cooler and more silly in person! I will probably be getting the Grasshopper and the Frog at least as well! Those 3 appeal to me the most but once I get those then I will want the other 2 as well, I know... I have met me! lol!
Fun buggy's. I have the Hot Shot it is a blast. You will enjoy a run with that good looking Hornet.
It just looks fun sitting there so it should be hilarious watching it bobble around in the yard!
Tamiya needs to do more of these comical kits 👌🏻I'd like to see a boomerang but guess that's never gonna happen 😢
I just saw (on Instagram) someone handmade a Sand Scorcher version and it was epic looking! That would be awesome to see and the Boomerang would be a cool one too! They look so fun and happy just sitting there!
looks fab mate . i’ve been meaning to grab the grasshopper variant for about two years now 😂👍
Thanks Dom! It is one I have been looking at for quite some time as well and finally got one. It should be a blast to run around, just like the WW2 is but less worries about broken body parts!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah ww2 i love to run but its getting abit tatty
These look like fun. Might have to build one some day. Yours came out great 👍
You and your son would love it. It looks silly and fun sitting still, I know it is going to be hilarious running it around and doing wheelies!
Hi Addam
Great video😊
That tamiya is awesome 😍
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it. I will get it out for a run this weekend and get a video up of it soon. I am sure it be hilarious seeing it wheelie and bobble around!
That’s cool, love it. Haven’t built anything like that before.
It is a fun change of pace from all the race buggies and such. They are instant smile makers when driving them as it is all wheelies and funny tumbles running them around! Zero stress and all silly smiles!!
Cool
Little rig
It is a funny little thing just sitting still so it should be hilarious watching it wheelie and bumble around outside!!
This is one thats on my radar, just looks sweet, and after watching them racing in the wheelie race at revival, i thought i deffo need one. Great build And hope to see it running soon 🤞
They are super cool and just look fun sitting still! I have yet to get out with it but I am sure it will be hilarious watching it wheelie and bobble around the yard! I will try and get it out the weekend if the weather cooperates!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah the one thing we are at the mercy of, the weather 😂 its been rubbish here in the uk. May aswell of just had 6 months of winter 😂
Man that awesome dude.... I been looking at those for some time, at least 3 of them.... LOl. As you said in the closing... the whole series.. LOL
They are pretty cool ones! I have been looking at them for a while but finally got one and now I want at least the Grasshopper and the Frog. I just love the character of them and it looks fun and silly sitting still!
That thing is cool Addam.. enjoyed and thanks for sharing.. never seen one of them in rl bet its fun to run.. video us great brother.
They are even more silly and fun looking in real life! I am sure it will be a blast running it around outside ripping wheelies and bouncing all over!
Haha that's awesome!! Love it!
It is a cool and funny little buggy! It should be hilarious watching it bumble and wheelie around the yard!
That is so cool.
I'd like to get the comical frog or Hotshot someday. Lol
Neat kit didn't like the look of them in catalog but really looks cool
I was kind of the same, I was not sure and the pics don't do it justice. It is a lot more fun and silly in person! I am sure it is going to be nothing but smiles watching it wheelie and bobble around in the yard. I will get it out this weekend and get a video done of the run very soon!
Those comical rc’s look to be a pretty fun. Wonder how they handle? Happy Summer. ❤
I will find out soon. I am sure it is going to be bumbly-tumbly kind of like the other WR02 kits but should be a little more sure-footed than the Wild Willy2 without having the heavy hard body on it. I am sure the run video will be full of wheelies and tumbles!
Those things are hilarious…I want tamiya to include them in the TCS races for a fun goofy class
I have seen a few races with them and they are hilarious. It is pure chaos and funny as it can be. There always seems to be one they is dialed in and avoids all the pile-ups and runs super well though!
That's just weird! I will stick with the real hornet! Nice job with it.
It is a different and I know it is not for everyone! LOL! It should be a funny one to watch wheelie and bumble around in the yard!
So at 4:15 when u tell us that Tamiya has put a lot info into one part ? That sounds like a Kyosho manual 😂😂
I don't have one of those CB's but i do have a GF-01 and it's fun
Yeah, occasionally there are steps where it is so out of character and so many things going on it catches you off guard. It is a step where you just have to lay out everything and prepare to do it all before trying to put anything on the kit! I know it happens with all manufacturers but it is very uncommon for Tamiya. The WR02 chassis is very similar to the GF01 in the way they drive and act. Lots of wheelies and funny tumbles from time to time!
Hey...is that bumper a rubber baby buggy bumper?
The comical buggies are pretty awesome! They just look like so much fun sitting still.
LOL, been waiting a lifetime for that one to be relevant! LOL! I totally agree it looks fun and silly just sitting there. I am sure it will be hilarious watching it do wheelie things around the yard!!
Are we going to see a track run?
it will probably make a few laps out there. It is going to be more fun in the yard riding wheelies and tumbling around.
why didnt they include a cover for the motor to protect against water splashes incase you drive over a puddle
It is a tble4.
yeah, you are right, point is it had the right plug on it to make life easier mounting it in the stock location.
i bought my hornet expert built from tamiya and the toe on the front wheels looks pretty bad. the front wheels point outwards. how can i fix that?
Just pop the steering rods off the ball and tighten up the links. try about 3 or 4 turns on each side and see how that does. Some toe out in the front helps with steering but only a few degrees is needed. In general the rears pointing in and the front pointing out a few degrees is best for off-road use.
@@AddamsPlayground awesome thank you
I know a lot of people don't like this... or any horny hornets for that matter, but I LOVE them!

How many are in the series
I didn't have fun putting the lunch box together I don't like the way tamiya sets up their instructions
