Best video yet! I loved how you explained the differences in the shells. Thankyou
Love all the shell's today . God bless you
The shells are so pretty!! Thank you for sharing! Enjoy your videos hon, keep them coming!
Thanks for the great vid and nice haul of shells .
This was so great, I just purchased two of your shell bags, I think you are sending them today, yeah, and had no idea they hold SO much. What a nice surprise, I knew they would hold all of the tiny's and be able to wash out the sand, but look how much they hold.
I enjoyed going through your shell bag with you! Got a real good look at some beautiful shells. Thank you.
Thank you for joining me, Cynthia!
Appreciate the talk on the shells. Visual difference on horse conch was cool. I realize I have one. How not to damage hinged shells much appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, Laura, for sharing your shelling. Am an avid sheller up north on Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. Found a little orange shell like you and knew it wasn't a baby horse conch because of the shape. Wasn't satisfied with my shell book either. So I went to the Bailey-Matthews site and found a picture of it under the ribbed cantherus. Sent a picture to Jose Leal (museum curator) and he verified that's what it is. You have a great resource there with the museum!
I LOVE your shelling videos! So informative.
Florida Mimi thank you!! I’m so glad!

jachutson great! You will have such a great time! I make and sell my shell bags - I never found one that was mesh for easy rinsing, with small enough holes to hold my tinies, so I started making them years ago! For bags visit virtualshelling.com 🐚

Does it take “homes” away from the hermit crabs by taking empty shells?
Dave there is no scientific evidence of crab populations declining due to lack of “homes”. There are plenty of shells available!

How do you clean your shells
Cat Smith diluted bleach solution and water for 24-48 hours, then clean with a toothbrush and dental pick if needed to remove residue or barnacles, rinse rinse rinse, then mineral oil shine!
The Venus Sunrays are nice, but impossible to drill. I tried and tried with my drummer and it barely made a dent.
G. E. Shells are tough to drill successfully. It takes special drill bits and technique to drill through them safely without cracking them.
Yes Laura, some are, I find the Venus like that, but I have had some that just with the sharp tip of a knife or scissors, without a drill I was able to make a hole...what I do is soak them in hot water first and I think that helped. I also drill them in water to avoid the toxic dust. I have many bits for my dremel and I have tried almost all, none which work on the Venus, but most of the other shells I was able to drill underwater without a problem.
What do you do with all the shells?
Display them, use them for crafts, sell them, and sometimes do giveaways 🙂🙂🙂
Do you have a different Chanel I miss watching you. ❤
Hi Lisa! No just took a break for work and family 🫶🏻 I’ll be posting new content soon!
