  • Heather Ganis is a beachcomber from Lahaina, Hawaii. She spent a good portion of her childhood on the coast of Northern California, walking on the beach with her grandmother, who collected beautiful shells while Heather collected sea glass. Heather says her grandmother’s love of the beach is what started her own passion for beachcombing. Heather is now a mother of three, and married to her best friend (who, surprisingly, does not like the beach). When she’s not at the beach, Heather works at a fun and beachy surf shop, and part-time in her church bookstore. She also practices hula! Heather creates stunning beach scenes with sea glass and shells.

Greetings from Korea! Just wanted to thank you for sharing your story and collection with us. I am a serious shell collector of fifty years, and I was quite shocked and pleased with some of the shells you found beachcombing. Some were in pretty nice condition for being dead found. Please continue to enjoy and share your passion with us. Good luck with your future endeavors!

Lovely video! In Hawaii do you have to snorkel to find shells or can they be found among the rocks/shoreline?

You can sometimes find them in the sand but they are usually in among the rocks!

This makes me so jealous! My shell collection is half of this, but it inspires me! Any tips on how to get more?

I think Heather is at the beach at least once a day! She searches in the rocks and lava along the shore as well as snorkeling in the shallows to find all her beautiful shells!

I live in Tennessee so I've only been to the beach once in my whole life. I'm pretty sure I will never get to Hawaii. I would love to have some beautiful ❤️ shells from there. I am 60 years old. Could you tell me how I could get some.
