Dude... i took screenshots bc it was kinda impressive... especially on mobile... (im on my phone...) but yeah! When your watching Azali, you need to make sure that you got subtitles on! 🫱💣
When you fully absorb the circle, modes, and chords, nothing actually changes. But you can suddenly move freely in any direction and it's very satisfying.
i LOOOVE more complex harmonies!!! After living all my early life listening to radio pop songs, hearing new and unique chords is like finally breathing a nice deep breath of fresh air, and you provide exactly that! Sadly, I don't understand anything you were talking about 😰, but that's ok! I'm glad it's helping you make cool stuff!
SAME FOR ME hearing rhythm game music for the first time a few years ago was a massive breath of fresh air for me hahaha also, you have my discord contact !!!! if you'd like to learn more about the concept, I might be able to explain it better over there if you'd like to learn :)
Orchestration is all about voicing, scale, and the specific instruments. A good way to start would be to do a string quartet, and then just builing up from there. Experiment with flute, other woodwinds, brass, bigger strings, etc. That's where knowing the individual instruments becomes important, because then you'll know where the strengths/individual timbres of the instrument really "shines," and where it'll pierce through the sound and be able to make a "voice" that you can make melodies and themes really stand out, and not blur and blend too much. What I meant by scale too was just the idea that different dynamic levels will change how the sound comes across, and certain instruments like brass can drown out a lot of the orchestra, even though the individual parts still contribute to the overall sound if you can't exactly pick some of the weaker ones out in a super loud section. I'm not a composition student, not formally anyway, so I'm sure there's a better way to explain, but essentially you should just approaching it with smaller things like a chamber group of instruments, and then building it up.
One thing! Ghibi studio uses jazz harmonies and classical orchestration, so it would help some classical training in orquestra too!!! And everyday you get better

probably not so long at all !!! ive been learning for 2 years now, and so i feel you can get to my level in a much shorter amount of time if youre willing to put the time and practice in :)
Listening to Azali is like having a seizure. One moment you are listening to the calm sounds of the rain and then you are dragged through a vocaloid session and then a high beat piano and then a rat in a cafe for some reason.
Oh my god, I'm a jazz studies major and I've never heard something this insane 🔥🔥🔥. This is awesome, keep having fun, I'm excited to see what else you make
Azali goes with piano like peanut butter goes with jam, I like peanut butter, but combined with jam is just better you know? Add a lil taste of breakcore and you got yourself a certified banger.
This time, my enflamed rat (tiny) friend and I found ourselves in a city. The center was illuminated with a ludicrous amount of lights. Music was present throughout the whole city too. It was eminating from the center. The people around were in constant joy and the atmosphere was "Jazzy" as the people described when I inquired. I assume its some kind of major event or just a thing that happens here. I must say. The mood is quite enjoyable, but the soup ingredients I've obtained here make my mood so much sweeter.
PIANO SONGS FOREVER (+ other things i guessss) to be real i dont know what the frick just happened but it sounded really good so good job xD that dominant substitution thingy seems so cool ill try (since im so bad at chord progressions lol) jazz stuff is a whole another step in music bro good luck (i tried but miserably failed to remember any of the few things i learned) also learning to code and make music at the same time may not be a great idea xD (maybe i should wait to learn music (but its too funnnn))
ahh yes tritone substitutions are awesome. If you want to know the technical reason why they resolve, it's this: Tritones are symmetrical, they're a perfect split of the octave, which means if I go up a tritone from B I get F, and if I go up a tritone from F I get B. The tritone in a V7 chord is the strongest force that pulls it towards the tonic since the B goes up a half step to C and the F goes down a half step to E. Well if you're in C major, the tritone in G7 is B and F. But if you take that dom7 chord and move it a tritone, you still get B and F since they're symmetrical. So now you have the same tritone but also notes outside of the chord for added colour. Using them outside of the key to pull to target chords is great, it's a form of secondary dominants. If you want some more jazzy sounding secondary dominants to add to your arsenal, I suggest looking into backdoor dominants. Such a lovely sound! Good stuff as always AZALI, keep it up!
Caption wall of text jumpscare 😭 this could also be quite useful, ive wanted to try jazz harmonies (this might be the fastest ive clicked on an Azali notif) but i lost a lot of motivation when i lost 4 years of everything qwq *if* i can understand it ;-; but this video got me an idea to start again ^^" thanks
Very jazzy!!!!! It reminds me a bunch of a gameshow countdown theme for some reason? Idk why! Ill definitely look into that technique too (i have zero experience in music theory BUT that won't kill the enthusiasm....ngl you are sorta indirectly giving me the courage to get started)
I’d say “Azali is back” but he never left 🔥

Jazz harmony is what I love about this new genre of people just messing around with classical instruments and EDM, it just works so well!
A lot of 90s House used jazz harmony too :3 part of what I like about it
We need a Azail jazz arc imediatly

Btw, dominant substitution is the reason house stabs in chromatic steps works so well, even though no one is thinking of jazz theory when using them
I think it's also easy to just think of them as turbo voice leading, since it works in the other direction too !
i didn't expect that there would be captions to this video, it was nice reading them while listening :)
