Thank you for sharing this video, it made my job so much easier, partly because I was working on my neighbors HHR and not a G6. Other videos were removing the steering wheel and then that section of the column. If you have ever been to a self-serve wrecking yard, you know the hard part is finding the car you are looking for especially if they are not grouped well. I needed the power steering assembly and was in and out in less than 2 hours. Everything about the HHR assembly is easier than a G6. When I started the disassembly of her car to the time I was test driving it was 2 hours, total piece of cake, again thank you. Happy Thanksgiving
Great video, thanks for making it. I hate, HATE, working on things under the dash. Just no room and lying on your back is a PIA. You have a lot more patience than I do. About half way through this I would have poured a gallon of gas in the car and just lit it up. Hope I never have to do one of these.

Appreciate the video man the part about that long bolt, saved me possible Time and frustration ,I got another motor from the junkyard out of a 2012 Malibu the bolt was on reverse so it made it way easier✌🏿
@Marty09933 I have a question for you if you don't mind. I just replaced mine with a reman. unit and while it doesnt jerk side to side at the steering wheel anymore, it pulsates with slight vibration while driving. It had a new torque sensor and everything. Steering wheel pulled out and reinstalled with no to minimal movement. What could it be?

My electric power steering works and then stops working randomly. If I restart the car it work again for a while then stops working again. My radio has the “power steering” message, that’s it. No wheel shake or vibrations. I already cleaned the connections to the motor with no change. Do you think my problem is the electric motor? Or the torque sensor?
Hi Not Kc hard to tell brother wish I had the answer. It be a gamble but it might pay off sorry yours has different symptoms. Thank you for watching I appreciate you
if you have a Pontiac G6 (years 2006 - 2008), your power steering is about to crap out. Same thing happened to me, pretty much locks up the steering wheel (why they would design a car w/ that type of failure mechanism is beyond me). You can call GM to see if the recall they put out covers your car (it didn't for me) or you can buy a new PSAM (power steering assist motor) and go to mechanic and have them replace it - it's actually very doable, I did it on mine just off watching TH-cam vids
Hi Sibrevs disconnect the battery for a temporary fix but more like you need to replace power steering electric pump Thanks for watching a really appreciate you.

Hi Danny Boy 210 the shaft has splines you have to line them up and try to go in as straight as possible. Look at the spline on the shaft and on the steering wheel.
