The Plot to Escape Paradise | Ep. 278

- Looks like I will finally have a fair wind to exit the Great Bras d'Or Channel which leads back out into the Atlantic Ocean. There is, however, the additional matter of the tidal current, which can run over 6 knots at the entrance. So just time it, right? Not so simple. In fact my research is bringing up conflicting sources on the matter. This has me both confused and anxious on how to proceed.

You should have seen the current at seal island yesterday, white caps and brittle cold! The anchorages are under ice.
That nice castle was Alexander Graham Bell’s house. My mom lives on the other side of the bay. Love the vids
Gorgeous piece of the world. If I were you, I'd visit my mother often!
We like seeing the Ruth Avery long-sleeve white t-shirt - reminds us of the sloop name - brands the channel. Thanks.
Masterful Kevin, as always...thanks for taking us along
I learned so much knowledge from watching you thank you
Nice “cliff hanger” there Kevin.
Beautiful sailing…ahhhh…
Heading for Newfoundland via Bras dor Lake next summer.
Beautiful 😍 Will put this on our bucketlist as were still rebuilding our cataraman!!
The Bras d'Or's are a treasure. The only downside is the long commute if coming from outside Canada, especially the return trip in the fall.
@@howtosailoceans1423 Ok awesome! We will keep that in mind!
Lovely cruising country!
Indeed, the finest anywhere.
Good job, showing the world that sailboats can sail in difficult conditions.
Ya mon. You know the drill, though an electric motor does supply more woomf than an oar in short bursts.
@@howtosailoceans1423 We sail like you, minimizing use of the electric motor.
Oohhhh!!! Another cliffhanger on this excellent cruising sailor channel. I won't go so far as to call it sexy, but Kevin did shed his top, so you've got to respect the lad for trying.
This episode really highlights how a sailor must really stay on top of things he cannot know and cannot see. Nice catch on the no longer existing pier! Also, it is great that you announce the date as I am always curious to see how late in the season the bold hearted are willing to play in the North Atlantic. You're building a lot of tension here, Kevin.
As always, thanks for continuing to share your story. I will be excited to see the next chapter.
Stay safe.
Ha, ha, Mike. I have the wrong chromosomal pairing to pull in clicks for going topless, but as you say, no harm in trying. It was indeed getting late in the season. This would soon come to haunt me.
@@howtosailoceans1423 Ha! Ha!
Damn you, Man! For a sailor who travels without an auxiliary motor, patience must be an ingrained quality, but for poor souls like me, dialed into the world of immediate gratification, it will be pure hell as I endure the time, waiting for your story to unfold.
I am very glad, at least, that you will survive the upcoming perils, and share with us the lessons learned.
Great video with one heck of a cliffhanger. Stay safe, Kevin. Best regards from Jarle
I really am enjoying your visit to Nova Scotia waters. I have sailed here for a decade and it can be very beautiful to sail. I love that you take the time to show the beauty up here. There is much more out there than just the Caribbean . Cheers
Agree, the Caribbean is over-rated. Except of course Canada is too cold for most of us in the winter ...
I could watch hour long episodes of your style of sailing and journeying. I may binge watch your Atlantic Crossing again
😎😎😎
Safe travels
another good one Kevin.
@edwardfinn4141 yes, Kevin going topless should help boost his subscribers
leaving on a cliffhanger
I would expect this would make a good angle for Bermuda.

I sometimes call at Beaufort on my way north or south. Was there about one month ago. Anyway, perhaps I might see you there when I pass through in the spring. Regards, Kevin
