      Cole should give Justin that new tool belt, he would get a lot more use out of it. Then replace a few of his tools for him, Justin mentioned something about having old stuff. That would be a good bonus. Then maybe do something nice for Roman after their done.

    My husband and I smashed the our chimney out of our house. We used 5 gallon buckets for all of it. We used the debris to fill an old concrete septic tank. We looked like coal miners covered in coal dust. We don't regret one moment of it. Best decision we could have ever made for our 40s brick ranch house in northwest Ohio. Removing that changed the entire climate of the inside of our home, reduced the moisture(no more sweaty windows in winter). Our bill to heat the house dropped by 25%.

    Heya Roman, my dad used to call all that soot and smoke "creosote". It's all the vaporized tree sap, soot, smoke, and condensation hardened onto the walls of the chimney. Unfortunately, when it's that thick it becomes a huge hazard because burning a fire can catch it all on fire, then you have a "stack fire", and it can burn the entire house down. They tell you to have a chimney sweep come out once a year to remove all that, but my dad would fill a gunny sack with large nails and run that up and down the chimney until the creosote was knocked off. That amount of creosote makes my skin crawl. I helped my dad fight a stack fire when I was a preteen, and we only had a couple of minutes to get it under control or lose the house. We succeeded, but it was closer than I care to remember. Thanks for showing us what it looks like. :)

    Used Bricks are on the market. There's money there. Also, Please continue to consider going with the Mini Split system over the conventional HVAC system. No expensive air handler or having to worry about loosing or gaining air temperature going through air ducting. Also, no losses on space for a giant air handler or all that ducting. Each room can have its own temp setting. The entire house doesn't have to be heated or cooled for those few rooms being used.
    P.S. They are soooo easy to DIY. And the cost is sooooo much cheaper. Refridgerant lines are easy to route along with all electrical connections. Condensation lines are sooo easy.

    • @johnunsicker7440
      @johnunsicker7440 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He will still need a heating system on top of the mini split systems. They are only good to -14 below. So he will need a backup system. He be better off doing a system to heat the whole house and then adding mini split to places. If you are going to invest in mini split for a house don't do the cheap DYI ones go with the name brand better units and will have hyper heat. Mino split are better then heat pumps. But with heat pumps, mini splits and GEO you need a backup heating system so a force air furnace is what most use. On my GEO system they come with electric heating grid. He might be better of doing GEO for the long haul and then install are getting easier these days as well.

    Wow, taking the roof out, constructing the roof inside and out, and then finishing the outside of the roof and shingles was a massive task. Sometimes, being the gopher is just as important as doing the other construction. You hired Justin and Roman for a reason. This is one of them. Besides, when you're on a pitch that high and 45° angle, you need a spotter, just in case. You and Nave will be picking out paint swatches and carpet swatches by Easter. Laying carpet is an all hands on deck project. Painting is the same, especially with new drywall. You'll be going through paint by the gallons. Justin is like a walking book of knowledge when it comes to construction. It seems like all he does is look, saw, and nail, and it's perfect. I wouldn't have the first idea on how to patch that roof. 😊❤

      @@shane2521 by the time hes done on this house he will have plenty of experience on a large channel with over half a million followers, I bet if he wants to start one he will have gained valuable experience to start one. While there seems to be a lot of chatter about Cole not pulling his weight, I think people forget who cleaned up the farm for years, who demo'd most of that house by himself, who cleaned out that house by himself, and who grew a social media following from nothing to over half a million followers. Cole understands social media and farming, he is learning about building/construction as he goes. when it comes to creating a social media platform, it is Cole who is the pro and who has the experience to share and I am sure that he does so freely, just as Roman and Justin share their knowledge in construction with Cole as they move forward on the house build.

    My first peek at construction was demolition when I was in Boy Scouts ! Our scout master was in home restoration and we all got tool belts with basic tools, gloves and hard hats! He gave half to the troop and the other half to us! We had so much fun! Got blisters and good skills that carried over into the rest of my life! We had so much money that we had catered meals on lake Powell where we spent a couple of weeks camping, skiing and playing! Great memories and great friends for life!
