My grandma was the organist at a local Methodist chapel and played all these hymns on the organ in the chapel from memory after over 60 years as organist and missed out verses that were not popular with the congregation. She was quite a character but loved by all. I have enjoyed hearing the old hymns and many happy memories came flooding back even though I cried through it all. Many thanks for the memories brought back to
Rob - This is wonderful; the memories it brings back of my days in Boys Brigade. "I woke, arose, and followed Thee." The words to this stirring hymn are very meaningful. God bless you, Rob, in your ministry of music. I do believe that the Holy Spirit is guiding you. - Stefan
sound is fantastic from that location. The organ would have been originally voiced for the church ambience, and this position demonstrates that wonderfully. The sound near to the actual instrument is often far removed from that heard by the congregation.
Absolutely bostin, Rob! Both in playing and chosen registration this was excellent! This hymn's in my Top Ten all-time favourites - there's at least another two Charles Wesley hymns there too!
Proper good Rob. It's a joy and privilege to still hear those wonderful gospel hymn's played by a wonderful organist. How can I explain? Listening to you , even though it seems old fashioned to some people is an absolute pleasure to listen to the old ones.which to me are best.. I'm so grateful to you for the influence you've given me to keep the lord and holy spirit inside me.( In the beginning was the word and the word was with God) You are an absolute pleasure and privilege to be able to listen to as a form of worship, having found the lord after many years astray. Excellent X Billy Bray from Cornwall has been a tremendous read as well as the Bible..... Billy Bray the Cornish Tin miner who got saved from alcoholism and built load's of chapel's in Cornwall." There's Power Power wonder working power in the precious blood of the lamb" Keep up the good work Rob . You are still a great comfort/inspiration.
@JamesEncliffe I know James its amazing people don't realise what organ there is in All Saints when you hear the Organ in real life you just have to hear the power of the organ! Recently some of the stops have been re voiced to make them sound louder on what they should be!

Always fascinating of how these types of instruments work. How the workers of that organ was able to stuff all those pipes in a small space like that and how each individual pipe has their own note. The biggest organs I've seen are about the size of a small house and how they shake the ground just like this old school conocer is just crazy
Maybe one day Rob, you can make a video which explains all the workings of the Organ, especially all those Knobs that I see, plus the three different level key boards too, I'd be interested to know. :-)
I've been an Organist for almost 20 years, but I don't play here at All Saints Church I just enjoy coming here to play and practice and do Videos on the Organ for everyones Enjoyment.
Rob. this is my favorite hymn of all time. You play it magnificently. My only question is will Rev. Arthur let you record you playing this with the congregation? Thanks for your dedication and your service, not only to us, but to God!
Those are lovely sounding reeds you added for the third stanza. Which ones were they? And then you knocked one of them off? Why? Did it sound overpowering to you? I enjoy your clean playing - very inspiring.
Good tempo - the risk of playing this hymn too slowly is the congregation will loose air support and not sing strongly - I prefer the tempo brighter with this hymn if the congregation is familiar with it.
Today I was at an event with a modern worship band, and don't get me wrong the band was amazing, but they did play some traditional hymns and the way they played them just didn't work, especially the way they played this one, just didn't sound right, wrong speed and chords.
I love traditional hymns on organ; miss it in today's modern worship.
Warmed this old Methodist heart.
Warmed this (probably older) Methodist heart ❤️😂 God bless 🙏
I love it when the organist doesn’t DRAG the hymn!! Great job!!!
Thanks for listening
As a Methodist and a church organist I have to say this is a fabulous rendition of this great hymn.
Thanks Ian.
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth.” - Psalm 25:4-5

I know this hymn as, "Amazing Love". I LOVE the tempo! Congregations have a tendency to drag hymns.

The name of this great Wesley hymn is " And Can it Be". The anthem of Methodism.

Brilliant,as usual, but I think you were a bit ambitious with the speed and a typical congregation! :-p Keep the Awesome tunes coming! :)
i will be taking organ lessons from gordon turk! he is a famous organist from the new jersey area
Those are lovely sounding reeds you added for the third stanza. Which ones were they? And then you knocked one of them off? Why? Did it sound overpowering to you? I enjoy your clean playing - very inspiring.

I stand corrected, Rob! It is the same tune. Guess my hearing is getting worse! Sorry!
Charles
Good tempo - the risk of playing this hymn too slowly is the congregation will loose air support and not sing strongly - I prefer the tempo brighter with this hymn if the congregation is familiar with it.
Thanks - can't understand you thou.
Must be late for lunch
XD

Nice organ registrations, but a metronome required
Thanks but why the short blunt comment on the latter? Why don't you post your version?
pipe organs rule
Thanks.
