I like Rammstein's version better than Depeche Mode's original. The electric guitars add that little extra to the song.
That guitar is the perfect metal sound! So heavy and chunky 🤤🤤
It was recorded for a Depeche Mode tribute album called “For The Masses”, released in 1998, which featured such artists as The Cure and Smashing Pumpkins. The actual words on the original were “let me see you stripped down to the bone”, Till decided to leave off the “down to the bone” bit, I don’t remember why exactly (I think he had trouble phrasing it correctly when he sang it) but I think it might be explained in the “Making Of” feature that goes with the official video (not the live one).

I don't know if someone has already said that, I cannot go through all the comments right now, but I just want to say that Depeche Mode is one of the most influentional bands for Rammstein. And actually you can clearly hear that influence.
When I was a teenager, before I even heard of Rammstein (or around the same time maybe, I don't remember), I had a short period when I listened to Depeche Mode. I really liked one of their albums, but it didn't take long for me to realize that their music made me even more depressed than I was naturally. Especially the songs I liked the most. So, I kinda gave up on them and never listened to them again.
I'm a huge Rammstein fan, but this is one of my least favorite songs, and I like the original much better.

I had a similar trip with Rammstein as you and at the same time. To my shame, I have to admit that I'm German and was put off by the negative press aura about Rammstein and didn't give them a chance from the start. Then at some point I heard "Sonne" and "Ohne Dich", both of which were on my playlists from then on, but unconsciously I didn't dare to get closer for fear of disappointment and the negative press (right-wing sentiment, etc.).
But when I got curious about 10 months ago, things really got going. What a discovery, what a journey. Rammstein is not just a metal band, Rammstein goes far beyond music. this is poetry set to music paired with performance art at the highest level.
How many years have I stupidly missed. But better late than never.
Here are 2 songs that don't get that much attention, but are very deep:
1. Stirb nicht vor mir (Rammstein feat. Sharleen Spiteri, Mix from Nightwolf)
2. Roter Sand
But get the lyrics first.
Forgot: Both songs don't have so much oomph for Domenica, but sure other qualities 😄

during the Mutter tour more than 20 years ago they played another cover song live. "Pet Sematary" from The Ramones, sung by Flake. It was a tribute to Joey Ramone, who died that year.
I never knew about this. Found out a couple of years ago and I was flabbergasted. Because, holy macaroni! The Ramones! Flake singing!??
In his youth before Rammstein Flake played (and sometimes sang) in a Punk band together with Paul. So maybe Ramones are one of the early inspiring bands for him.
I've seen this recording from the concert many times and I'm not tired of it, it's a classic of the band, I was waiting for you to make a reaction to this recording.

Probably my least favourite Rammstein. I can't help it, I never liked the original either though to be fair! I love the Nimes concert, but this is when I'd make a cup of tea. Good to keep completing your Rammstein reactions though. X.

Not my favourite song, but Ollie in the boat and finally some close ups of him 😅 He's always a little overlooked, sometimes even in his "solo parts" the camera is on Till or another member of the band 😢 That makes me a little sad, so seeing him (for longer than the 2sec. snippets we usually get) is amazing 🤩

You should see their official video for this. It has all black and white film of 1930s Olympiads doing track and field sports in only shorts and bathing suits, track uniforms, etc.. Supposedly, the film was commissioned by Adolf Hitler to be produced by his favorite movie director. It was a propaganda film to show what Hitler considered the master race excelling in various events during the 30s Olympics. Ramstein put this song "Stripped" to it as the sound as it was a silent movie. P.S. Till was slated to participate in the 1980 Olympics for East Germany but got an injury and didn't go, and then quit swimming to pursue music.

Rammstein really get in trouble in Germany by the media because of their offical video. `Cause they used fotages of Leni Riefenstahl. Nevermind. About the boat thing Bad Ass Flake tok it to the extreme once and ended up before the stadium and no one let him in again for some minutes. Also Oliver was capsized once but Rammstein fans are different and brought him back to the boat. And btw. the original Song by Depeche Mode ist just Gold.

I think it was Oliver's birthday, the one on the boat. I think they even bring a cake out at the end of the concert for Oliver to blow candles out. Can you please do "holzmichel" from them? I've never seen anyone do it before. Sounds like polka music mixed with Rammstein style. I think you'll like. Oh yea I was wrong about the birthday.

Speaking of Depeche Mode. Till visited Saint Petersburg twice as a poet with his books for autograph sessions. While people were waiting in queues, Depeche Mode's music were among the songs entertaining people :) Suppose, Till just likes this band.
