@@IroManiac Rick didn't have a choice, iirc he passed before the other VAs started to really interact more with the community. I'm sure he would've joined in on Robin, Gary, John's and Dennis' sandvich adventures if they asked him to.

Ironically, the latest game to hear his voice as an Engineer is not TF2, but Paladins's "Team Fortress 2" skin for champion "Barik".
Man I wish that skin makes it on console

i should say that Grant is like someone Valve was lucky enough to get him to voice Engie, he's a busy guy and it's unlikely that he's interested in video games stuff as mentioned in this video.
Well, he did voice engineer lines for Paladins in 2017 (if I remember correctly) so it could be that he just takes job offers but Valve just doesnt offer any. He's most likely not like other voice actors, where they enjoy voice acting for people, even almost free, though I am certain that Goodeve enjoys it too but maybe film acting is just more his thing, or he's real busy, or he just wants to get paid for what he does, and not being bothered too much.
Though his voice is spectacular. Just like all the VAs.
Maybe if someone were willing to pay him like they did to Nolan North, he would say Engineer Gaming

@@NikolasoGames people have to stop saying that the others care more because they enjoyed more voice acting. That has nothing to do with it. Simply the others stayed there because they were INTERNALS of valve. Of course they stayed around. Grant was a professional with high fame and outside valve. He shouldn't have to excuse himself for doing his job

@@Subreon that's Jerma you're thinking of. The actual VA is Nathan Vetterlein. Jerma is more active about the voice lines and he was the one the Scout was based off of, hence his canon name, Jeremy. [in the TF2 comic on the site, if you wanna read them. they are really good.]
Scout was a streamer that played TF2 before (he was a Heavy main), but now he quit to do other stiff
It is just sad that we still don't have real engineer gaming
Maybe someone can get Nolan North to do it, since he's basically the Engineer's new voice now. It's not quite the same, but it's the closest we might get

I forgot he was in Twin Peaks, hated his character for so many reasons but he definitely played it well.
Crazy how he sounds more like the engineer now than he did before tf2. It's like voicing the engineer subtly changed his voice

You know, seeing how his career is now, I'd be happy if he never returned to TF2. He's doing very well and absolutely deserves it. A great actor who just happened to be the best damn Texan around!
Its so surreal hearing the slightest hint of engi’s voice in his normal voice
I was just thinking to myself why hasn't he taken part in the recent collabs between all the TF2 VAs. I wonder what he thought of May's passing or if he ever gets together with the others, his role as Engie probably seems like a blip on the radar to him.

I think he is a very talented voice actor and took his role very seriously, spectacular voice, that is why I'd just love to hear it more. Like a melody or a painting, you just can't get enough.
I sometimes feel it's worth reminding folks that TF2 came out 15 years ago. Folks move on to new jobs. And for Grant, playing Engy was probably just another job. Sure, he's well recognized for it, but I imagine he's like how Harrison Ford is sick of people asking about Han Solo or Indiana Jones, he's done other stuff since then and he'd prefer you asked about that.
He's just ashamed that he'll only ever be remember in popular culture for TF2 VA role and not any of this 40+ years of other acting
He could easily become the next Chris Hanson if he wanted.

I was always wondering what has been going on with this man and why we've never gotten any form of a REAL Engineer Gaming line or any form of Engi's voice after TF2 released... But after a quick stop into his IMDb, yeah... Safe to say he's real busy...
He did do the voice for a skin based on Engineer in Paladins actually. Was kinda surprised to find out it was the man himself who did it, at first I figured it was someone doing a really good impression.
I would personally want to see Scout's voice actor next, mainly because scout is my favourite class (i main him)

I was bummed when you said he wasn’t born in Texas, he literally sounds like he has a western accent in general. Engineer is my favorite class, and I thank this man for voicing him. Hopefully by some miracle, he would return for tf2 stuff or show up in your videos

Funny how Grant Goodeve and the Engineer are both so busy and private that you can barely see 'em.
I mean, Grant is an actor intead of just a voice actor, and the Engineer in the comics works for Elizabeth and her Australium long life machine.

sometimes i wonder if his seeming reluctance to acknowledge or discuss his role as the engineer stems from people in hollywood looking down on videogame voice acting, and there's feelings of the role being "beneath him" or something. it's impossible to ever really know, though

Was just watching old Eight Is Enough reruns and looked him up. Can't believe he's the engineer's voice actor! That was my favorite character when I used to play TF2 years ago! Lol. I grew up watching him as the eldest brother on EIE in the 70's.
