Can you pls give a brief explanation as to why you bridge the terminals?

Okay Seth. I don't know if I properly understand the question. But what I can say is that, the connection is like that because of the terminal arrangement of that particular type of intermediate switch. You know the 3way switching arrangement has to be configured in a way that the lamp can be controlled from any of the switching points at anytime.

Thank you sir, but the reason for my question is that, when you take a very good look at the switch in question, it looks like a two 1 gang two way switches joined together. Now, my question is, is that the reason why you bridge the terminals?

Yes exactly. The terminal arrangement is just like that of a 2gang - 2way switch Just that with the intermediate, there's only 1gang.

strappers or strapp wires refer to the cables that connect to, and from the intermediate switch to the L1 and L2 terminals of the 2way switches. It is also called jumper wire or jumpers.

But there are differences also, based on appearance, wiring, and internal arrangement
