@ same classic is ok for me just like in the old days and on this video you forgot to add clashes on dash cause the mashing is better than spinning the analog
Both nostalgic tho really, if you played the Raging Blast games standard is catered to that while classic is of course the Budokai Tenkaichi way….I played both plenty but was never a fan of circle as my block so I went the standard route for this game
The game is not that hard. Just play the game the way you want without trying to make standard players look bad. Because classic player aren't any better to the game .
Thank you for this video . I’ve always felt that Classic wasn’t really intended for players to play. I did not know about the ascend/descend difference which is very important to have for movement. Looks like I have to re-learn Sparking ZERO
The faster throw, mash in rps situations and immediate dragon dash are too beneficial too ignore, i also find it funny that standard users can use the old perception input from bt3 lol
Thanks for the tip about guard before grab on classic, didn't know that. After all tenkaichi + more than 200 hours in sparking zero, my brain says f*ck off if i try to switch on standard controls so i hope they will fix it one day :( Good video as always, keep it up !!
A Third controler option being "Custom" would be awesome, where you can make all the changes you want (for example a Standard Scheme with Classics inputs or viceversa)
Classic is completely gimped for no reason. The developers know that classic has many issues as compared to standard, but instead of at least trying to bridge the gap, they left it completely butchered to force people onto standard. I don't really even have beef with standard but I hate R1 as guard. B/O as guard is honestly so much nicer to play and is the real reason I use classic. B + X for grab would be cursed, but the input could have just been changed to B + Y, especially since the input is unused on standard. In fact, I wish we had a hybrid control scheme because there are honest to god better things about both controls besides the honest deficiencies classic has because they chose to try and force standard
Idk man I don’t think there forcing us onto standard. I think they just nerfed us, the ppl who’ve played the BT games originally/never stopped,a bit so we wouldn’t just demolish the new players with the legacy skill and muscle memory. Also to not alienate the RB players and force them to learn classic.
One thing thats actually better about classic is that you can block and fish for super counters/high speed evasion at the same time if you do that with standaed you just get a grab
I started off with standard but recently switched to classic. It’s was easier for me to adjust by having the Dual Sense Edge to remap some buttons my brain was hard wired to use from standard. Another HUGE disadvantage is perception being one button on standard vs having to press two buttons on classic

Most of the disavantages of classic could be get fixed just with a patch that allows a more complete control customization on classic mode
I changed the switch button to r3 and transform to l3 i don’t have to time my switches, i still kick ass and hit Z on classic but standard is much more friendly and kinda broken so I’d tell new players to play standard
There is also other stuff that wasn't mentioned in the video. Performing a ground throw is bugged on classic. You have to press up + triangle to perform it. The problem is that the animation is triggered anytime the enemy is on the ground, whether you are close or not. So if the enemy is on the ground and far away (because you caused a hard knock down) if you want to get closer to him (pressing up on the d-pad or left stick) and fire ki blasts (pressing triangle) you will trigger the ground throw animation even if you are far away from the enemy so it will look like your chatachter is trying to chatch something from the ground and stopping you from firing ki blast and getting closer. Also the fact that you can't use ki charge + ascend/ discend to quick ascend/discend makes no sense. On classic you can press circle to use perception while you are attacking with square and you have to press up + circle to teleport behind the enemy. I guess that this suggest that the developers want you to be able to use perfeption in the middle of a combo in case the enemy is spamming the super counter input to trigger a sonic sway or perception but no one uses this. Instead is way harder to teleport behind because you have to press up + circle instead of R1 that is required on standard. I'd prefer to be able to teleport behind with just circle and to perform perception with the usual triangle + circle during combo. I'm still gonna use classic because that's the way I always played but developers could really do something about all this stuff. At least fix the ground throw bug, let the quick ascend/decend as charge ki + R1/R2 and give us a way to perform throw with a combination of input form the guard stance.
In case anybody's curious classic controls are fro. the Budokai Tenkaichi Series Standard is from the Raging Blast series I'm trying to play the game on standard more than classic because my brain is so hardwired from the Tenkaichi series it's creating problems with follow-up attacks that aren't in this game
I started with classic, spent hours on it and it felt okay. Swapped to standard and it instantly clicked. The control scheme for classic is much more ergonomic and intuitive, classic feels more like a control scheme for people who have been playing bt3 actively before sz released
They should def have a setting to auto descend/ascend because cycling through jump and ascend just messes up movement on classic. Especially with characters that cant fly because if they are too close to the ground they cant do certain things in the air
One small thing on the switch/tag controls. I use classic and i just put emotes to be both sticks, and Switching to be emotes. Makes it much eaiser because I'm not usually emoting in a match I'm taking serious anyway
How do you get your emotes? Mine don't show up when I do that transition. Only my Switch and transformations panel show. The emote one doesn't appear whenever I click down or right.
@mugen4516 If you set your controls like mine, you just have to click both sticks down for emotes. It's very finicky though, that's why I changed it. I'd rather struggle with emotes than switching. In my case, I only emote with friends, so I am not moving or under pressure when I click both in, and it works most times. If you have any issues still, I'll reply to this with a breakdown of my settings to try and help you and anyone else with the issue
I think what could solve the switch problem for classic is giving us a switch wheel like in bt3 but not giving full bind customization is another problem. But I’m still going to use classic because its what I’m used too. Standard is for RB and xv players
i play classic cuz im a bt3 vet, but man even tho i never touch standard i could definitly see why its better, idk if i should switch or not.. im so used to classic that standard may take some time to adjust.
If only we could do super counters on dpad with standard controls I just know my super countering would go up like crazy….it’s like switching to Dpad instead using the analog on Tekken, your inputs are just so much more shaper
I don't understand why they don't allow classic players to make dragon dashes use the charge button + ascend/descend to do dragon ascend/descend. Tenkaichi 2 used that input but then BT3 changed it to what classic uses right now. It bugs me because I would switch to standard if I could use my D-pad for movement as it's easier to do close quarter movement + super counters with it imo.
See i knew this was true ! . After experimenting both controls for awhile i was stuck in my nostalgic ways using classic . Recently switched back to standard and it was the best choice i made on choosing my home controls . And then u prove my point wit this exact video . Thank u for this lol
I'm well aware it's better and can even tell when my opponent is using it because of how much they fuckin spam perception. But i will never touch standard.
When this game came out, I wondered why there wasn't extensive button customization... bandai???? let's complain about this to Bandai when he finally speaks out about something about the game
@likenoother6561 if it requires more difficulty is that not skill though? Character choices aside classic players are better than standard players excluding pc
Staying on classic all day baby
Seems like I'm not the only one that refuses to adapt and switch to Standard 😂
@ same classic is ok for me just like in the old days and on this video you forgot to add clashes on dash cause the mashing is better than spinning the analog
You can put the switch button to only one button in classic so its all good 😎
The way I found out how to switch reliably on classic is making sure R3 is pressed before L3, for some reason the order matters
I changed it and put the character selection on the L3, so with this the problem is solved
Classic is a suboptimal nostalgia trap.
Both nostalgic tho really, if you played the Raging Blast games standard is catered to that while classic is of course the Budokai Tenkaichi way….I played both plenty but was never a fan of circle as my block so I went the standard route for this game
While I believe Classic requires skill, the more I see of Standard & what it has access to... this game was made for Standard & it's painful.
The game is not that hard. Just play the game the way you want without trying to make standard players look bad. Because classic player aren't any better to the game .
you're saying this to one of the Greatest if not the greatest Tenkaichi player of all time...I think he knows what he's talking about.@@Hellsing7747
Classic requiring skill? Lmao.
Man you're awesome ❤
Personnaly I prefer classic controls but I wish we could personnalize a bit more inputs
GoatWanger using the banger OSTs
Thank you for this video . I’ve always felt that Classic wasn’t really intended for players to play. I did not know about the ascend/descend difference which is very important to have for movement.

You can configure the character switch/transformation to standar while mantaining the classic controls.
Might be better, but the pad configuration was burnt into my memory 20 years ago and I couldn't adjust to standard
Thanks for the tip about guard before grab on classic, didn't know that.
After all tenkaichi + more than 200 hours in sparking zero, my brain says f*ck off if i try to switch on standard controls so i hope they will fix it one day :(

Atleast it’s easier for you to super counter
@@IlIIIllIII Nothing about the super counter input changes between classic or standard
The best is what works for you. I played the series right from the beginning, and now I play in standard .

I greatly prefer Standard, too. If only the dragon dash attack wouldn't be so easy to screw up by doing a super instead.

Classic gang 🎉
i heard there is some tech moves only possible with classic controls, is that true ?
If they gave the option on Standard to use the D-pad for super counters Classic controls would be useless.
I miss the DBFZ guides :(
Make Perception a Trigger Button and Block Circle/B and I'll switch to Standard.
Standard is Unplayable for me for this single reason.
If you use standards its just a skill issue
NICE
I’ve been on classic for too long I cba to switch😭😭😭

All classic has over standard is its slightly easier using the dpad than the analog stick

Yall be grabbing the air when going for super counters
Classic is still better because you can use dpad for super counter
Classic ever bro 😅
Standard feels stupid
Classic requires skill, just say that
True but both are pretty easy. It's not like playing to street fighter
Lmao using controls that are less responsive and require more difficulty is not a flex though
@likenoother6561 if it requires more difficulty is that not skill though?
Character choices aside classic players are better than standard players excluding pc
