Even I bought a silk saree from ksic mg road, but it is a fake silk saree it is even absorbing water, when I took it back to the shop they are telling " as it is single colour saree wax is not applied while dyeing, single colour sarees are not water proof ". Previously I bought a saree from another ksic outlet, it is double colour and waterproof.

Good info! But I have a doubt, if it doesn't absorb water, then how do you wash it or maintain it?
You have to give it to dry wash when it gets dirty and wrap it in a white cotton cloth when not in use.. every 3 or 4 months put it outside in the sun.. natural sunlight is the great disinfectant to kill germs, pests and bacterias

Real Mysore silk is not heavy.. it’s light weight n very smooth.. the texture also feels so smooth.. if it’s mixed fabric or not pure, then it’s heavy. Hope this was helpful :)

Even I have mysore silk saree bought in ksic but that is not water proof.. If we put water, it absorbs is it pure r not..
Pure Mysore silk saree should not absorb water. You can check for the seal and the saree number stamp on the saree as shown in the video

How can we wash Mysore silk saree
Dry wash
Never dry clean ksic sarees. They are pure silver and gold Zari. It should be washed with soap nut if needed only. Dry cleaning eventually destroys the saree because of chemical reaction. It will disintegrate. I lost 3 original Binny silk sarees to dry cleaning. They just disintegrated. The ones I hand washed is still like new.
