I was, with my son, at the second concert the day after. Simon is outstanding (of course) but the band really were up to his level. Personally, I was blown away by this piano solo - gave me the same chills as of Keith Jarrett’s Köln Concert. Thanks for posting!

Simon never surprises me with protocol. The bandmembers are very professional sounding incredible. The music of jazz fusion is wonderful. I hope they come somewhere in Orlando so I can hear them sometime. I saw Simon many years ago with ex Genesis guitar Steve Hackett, and he was great.

While attending all three shows at Catalina's last November this was my view. This brings back found memories. The Long Road Home to me is the most beautiful piece in the Phillips catalog.

Yeah - so very cool to see him THIS close. So dynamic and it sounded so great back there. Yeah - The Long Road Home is probably my favorite as well. It is a well-crafted and beautiful piece of music.

Simon lives up the road from me and he plays often locally, but for some reason I can't seem to catch him on the nights he's playing!
In the words of the Eagles, "One of these nights"!

This venue is way too small for the amount of people that showed up for this show, if this was in the U.S., the fire codes would have shut this place down.

Simon has always been a huge influence for me, from the early years with Manzanera/Eno to Toto.
But what pisses me off about him is the fact that he's so Ambidextrous! He can play left or right dominant progressions with absolute ease.
It's a gift that comes naturally I suppose! I simply can't do it.

Not sure how "natural" it is: I remember reading an interview in International Musician decades ago when he was a teenage session star, where he explained that crossing hands etc. seemed illogical to him so he practiced riding etc. with his left hand and eventually got to the stage where there was no difference for him. As ever, practice, practice, practice, but no doubt being Simon Phillips helps a lot!
