I had no idea that I could use non Singer branded needles on this machine. Good to know as I can't get Singer brand needles in my local fabric/haberdashery shops and have to order them.

My singer machine is made different than that. That lever u move to control that rod that holds the needle isn't on mine. My needle fell through the gap on my machine. I got it out but I can't put the needle back inside the feed. You made that look so easy

Watch the video about free motion quilting I think it might show you how to fix it. If I'm correct in assuming you accidentally removed both the "foot" and " ankle" from the machine.
