- Part 1 of 3. My tribute to the story of Pacey and Joey through out all six seasons..
When DC started in 1998 I was 15 years old.. and as such.. this show became a religion for me. Every week on channel 4 I would come home from school and watch DC. And 13 years on I can still get lost in this show and have been recently as I just relived all six seasons again and wanted to do my version of the story that captured the hearts of mostly every DC fan.
Starts in Season 1 with the little chat that Pacey and Dawson had in the episode Double Date then all the little moments in season 3 that saw this romance unfold. Ironic really it was Pacey that was interested in Jo first and was only when he told Dawson this that he started to see her a bit more. It would be a year before Pacey finally made his move and wasn't rejected but as love triangles go.. falling for your best friends "soulmate" causes obvious problems.

Pacey was hands down my favorite character! He was underappreciated, he was so caring and patient, and put up with so many people treating him like dirt, but he did it with a smile. He never lost his charm, he never stopped cracking jokes, he never lost his sarcasm. In every situation he pushed through, kept going, kept moving forward, after what he wanted. Pacey was such an inspiring character, and everyone needs a Pacey in their life.

@@thatissomebadhatharry4801 No, actually he didn't want Joey in season 3. He told Pacey to keep an eye on her while he figured himself out, as friends. He never wanted them together.
@@radicaldreamer18 i just watched the season 3. He did want her from the beginning. But he also didnt believe it was the right time. And to be perfectly honest, hr is right. Joey cheated on him and dumped him on 2 occasions.

the guy is amazing and it's nearly impossible to get me to ditch a ship I've set my mind on from the beginning but PJ was a surprising and great pairing. The underdog won in the end. I do think Dawson and Joey have the best love, greater than romance or friendship just pure but PJ is the supreme COUPLE

I hate how they give Dawson this power and control over Joey all because they have been friends for years......
Its funny because Pacey was also part of their history. All three knew eachother since 1st grade. But his part of history doesn't hold any weight in the show.
how many times was he denied? how many times did he lose confidence in himself? how many times was he hurt? Pacey is a survival of the friendzone!! big props to him

But in the end he got the girl and amazingly gotten through everything he ever been through with the love and help of Joey and has everyone else and has help and loved Joey and I think in a way it saved him because he got a chance to love the one true love . And stormed and ski trip is one of my favorites and when Pacey and Joey have their first 😘
And yet she chose him over Dawson twice.. lol.. so if Pacey is the survivor… Dawson is what??
After watching this entire series again from start to finish almost 20 years from when it started, it confirms the way the story played out. It's fairly clear if u watch the series closely there's a definitive evolution of Joey. Dawson evolved but not quite as much as Joey and Pacey the least. A lot of "DJ'ers" get hung up on K Williamson leaving after season 2 and the show become less "Dawson's Creek" and more like "Pacey & Joey's Creek". The reality is - it doesn't matter. We got what we got and I think that the show stayed true to its core in which was a love story between 3 people that was very well done. Joey clearly was the star of show and centerpiece (credit all goes to Katie Holmes). her development over the years seems to be very true to her character and realistic. in the end she finally realized after time gone by she was supposed to have both men in her life but Pacey was her true love. I don't see how anybody could say it should've been any other way.
honestly if her and dawson had ended up together it would have been shitty because they spent so many seasons being apart it was like they couldn't even stay together for 10 episodes without them breaking up I think season 2 is the only season they got together but then we have pacey and joey who had a lot of history development in season 3 and then in season 4 they were together for the whole season and yes people say they were toxic and they argued every episode but to me it just wasn't the right time to be together quoting pacey. "Even though the two of you may be right for each other it doesn't mean that your right for each other now" and I think at that moment pacey was stressed over dragging joey down and joey was stressed because she didn't want to be stuck in a small town they were always going to fall apart they both needed to mature and grow up before starting a relationship and eventually they did find their way back to one another they even had a few moments in season 6 where you could tell they both still had feelings for one another but again it was a terrible time to get together and then finally flashforwards 5 years and Joey was finally ready to stop running and choose what she wanted you know if you showed this series to someone and didn't give them the title of the show I think they would agree pacey and joey seemed like the main couple they had the most development the most painful I loves the whole longing from afar drama thing and the most iconic scenes ever and what did her and dawson have and now I am ranting hahahaha yea I now they were only doing the king Arthur esque them to draw people in but they did it to the point where it was like how could she love anyone else after what pacey had done for her
NattyJane u did ramble a bit 😂but you're right. You really have to watch the whole series twice to fully grasp it and it would help to do it several years after the first time. I watched the series when it was on and I was in 21 when it started. Now almost 40 and have matured and "grown up" it puts the show in a whole new light. As I said in my previous post, there's no question in my mind the show ended the right way. The scene that defined the entire series was the "you're off the hook" scene. Pacey let's her go but Joey said something that summed up the entire "tripod". She said her love for Dawson was pure and entirely innocent. She was able to separate the love of a best friend and of a lover. It's a tv show and in real life that's a much tougher task but I believe that she was true to her character and how she evolved over the years. The series was really "Joey's Creek" from about the 3rd season on and especially the last 2. A truly iconic series that I believe will only get more credit and accolades as the years go by.
in the original script for the last episode when they were having the your off the hook speech kevin Williams said originally he was going to have joey say that she loved pacey the way a woman loved a man but he felt if she said that then the audience would instantly know that joey chose pacey so he took it out although to be honest when joey said that the love she had for dawson was pure and eternally innocent that was kind of a huge dead giveaway that she was going to choose pacey anyways because when it comes to romantic love there is nothing innocent about it
NattyJane yes totally agree with you. As I said, Joey evolved the most by far and so for them to have her pick Dawson would pretty much go against her whole development. Although to be fair to DJ'ers, they could make the case that you always revert to your childhood. Everything was there with PJ. Chemistry, passion, real love. This has a lot to do with the actors as well. JJ and Katie definitely have chemistry on and off screen and it comes thru. It's really fun to watch all this again.
Ryan Gordon the Creator has said before that the show is really about Joey... Also something about it really being based on a gay man's love life, and that's why the girls all have boys names
Thank you finally someone remembers their first kiss… Everyone I talk to always thinks the first one was Cinderella Story... proof Pacey liked her frist.
This made me happy and sad allll at the same time. Dawson was ridiculously selfish when it came to Joey. I'm glad she chose Pacey. They're so friggin cute together
Yeah, I thought Dawson tried to hard for Joey even though his heart was in the right place. Pacey is more patient and has more empathy .
Joey and Pacey were meant for each other, such a sweet, beautiful couple, Joey and Pacey forever!
No one ever talks about this, but in season 2 when Joey gets her fortune told the lady tells her that she will come to a fork in the road and will need to choose (Dawson or Pacey). The lady also tells her a handsome tall dark man will come into her life soon and in that same episode Pacey refers to himself as a tall dark man.
Watched that episode yesterday. The fortune teller tells Joey that she will be okay, as long as she follows her heart. Fortunately, Joey finally stopped being afraid and listened to her heart.

The first scene of the series was in Dawson's room establishing their characters innocent brother/sister relationship that was changing yet in a way they were too close no true mystery, the second scene was the one of Pacey/Joey and establishing their characters love/hate relationship and how they had so much to explore to get to truly know each other, the third scene was of Jen's arrival and establishing her characters place on the show and with the group! Everything else in this show basically built from those three scenes! In the end if you really look at it the relationship that truly evolved the most was Pacey/Joey's because the beginning was all about how much they "hated" each other and the end was all about how much they "loved" each other! It really was a brilliant transformation from beginning to end! The writers may have never meant for the characters to be end game but the way they set up the beginning scenes they really eventually had to go there because there was so much more of a evolution they could take with Pacey/Joey than Dawson/Joey! The love/hate relationships are always so much more powerful and angsty! Season 2 they were intentionally kept apart and given separate love interests because they saw the actors chemistry from the very beginning especially after the snail hunting episode and didn't want the fans to experience it too soon! They always intended on putting the characters together but they didn't want to do it too soon in the series and felt like they needed to develop the characters individually first! The plan was to put them together cause angst and drama for Dawson/Joey and Pacey and then reunite Dawson/Joey in the end as endgame soulmates however the Pacey/Joey pairing was a huge ratings success and took on a life of its own forever changing the trajectory of the show!
I LOVE this couple so much! They remain one of my favorite of all times. Joshua Jackson's acting was so amazing. He was the reason I tuned in every week after catching a rerun of the episode in which Pacey is defending Jack. I was rooting for Pacey and Joey from the beginning. Couldn't get why anyone wanted her to end up with Dawson when she had soooo much chemistry with Pacey. Great vid!

ever since pacey and joeys first scene I knew they would be together there true love there love is strong pure and true and with dawson there was no chemistry it seemed like there was no love there and when dawson learned joey had feelings for pacey he tried to break them up and when he found out pacey and joey were together he told joey that they weren't friends and if she picked pacey there would be no going back and everything was ruined to me it seemed like dawson never really loved joey when joey picked pacey he acted like a 5 year old who had his favourite toy taken away from him I never liked dawson and I could never stand dawson and joey where as pacey and joeys love was true and pure and pacey loved joey for who she was he never tried to change joey and even after pacey broke up with joey and prom they never stopped loving each other and they never had a long lasting relationship I'm so glad in the end joey followed her heart and picked the man she truly loved the man who has always loved her pacey
1montrealfan ive been rewatching from the beginning i don't remember too much of the later seasons only a few moments but i always loved pacey and joey especially from their first kiss together lol. Dawson was so much of a whiny shithead for me. Everything always had to be about him and his life and his problems.

exactly how i felt. Pacey was one of my first crushes the cheeky smart funny heart of gold ragamuffin romantic guy. it's a good thing jess on Gilmore girls came around not long after because it was slim pickings there for a while in teenage girlhood.

I remember when I first watched this show as a kid I HAAAATED Jen. I wanted her skanky ass to get away from Dawson so Joey can have him. I also never finished the series until I was an adult and bought the series on DVD. Now? Now I love her, she's one of my favorite characters and I will forever be TEAM PACEY!!

Haha me too. Hated Jen and I stopped watching when Joey and Pacey got together because I believed Joey and Dawson belonged together. Watching it again 20 years later I get it now. Joey and Pacey are the better match.

Besides the best love story ... can we talk about the best conversations, Pacey's smart and witty come backs, remarks, the banter between them ... I used to love it for that too ... English not being my first language, I've learned so much from the show. Joey singing On my own ... that was the first English song I translated so I could understand it. The best show of my teenage years.
I love there characters. Pacey and Joey define, what a true relationship and love shoukd be. He cares, for her on such a humanistic level, does the most amazing things in life for her and she reaches out for him. When Dawson breaks down, you can tell, how much he wanted Joey, but Pacey stepped up first. You can feel the heartbreak, sorrow and loss for Dawson. Growing up, I was in my teens watching this show and as an adult the message is still the same. Its above love, family, loss, friendships, relationships, addictions, being there for each other. Reminds me of my ex in so many ways.

Season three is the best - there are other Pacey & Joey moments I love (Castaways!) but I agree, S3 will stay with me always.
I’d say in terms of writing season 2 is the beat but 3 is my favourite because of pacey and Joey because they saved the show after Kevin left
Oh yes. Season 3 will forever be on my mind and in my heart. Way too many scenes that tore me apart and made me sob bc dammit, Pacey loved her so much!!😭😭 And the episode when Dawson finds out?? Oof. I can rewatch that one and the junior prom episode over and over 😩😭❤️
Season 3 is also my favorite. I love season 4 because they're together and they do have many great scenes but the ending is really dumb. Season 3 ending is everything.
I just love how it shows a collage of all their moments with the dialogue where it all began, and especially how it starts playing “Everything” by Lifehouse, perfectly shows how sweet Pacey is 😍 without overplaying all the iconic scenes, but the special little ones
the thing I always liked about this couple was that it felt so natural they gave them time to develop and get feelings for each other whereas in season 1 episode 1 joey already had feelings for dawson and its like I just couldn't see how I should care about a couple that had no build up to their relationship that's why I have a hard time shipping best friends together the only time I ever shipped best friends together was caroline and Stefan and they don't even count because they built up to them being best friends whereas we were just told in dawsons creek that joey and dawson were bestfriends
Exactly-the reason in the end the initial Dawson-joey ending lost to pacey-joey for me is because the writers were too quick at the start to have Dawson and joey be in love and together without really giving a clear reason besides that they grew up together. Seemed kind of forced, even the soulmate thing that was just there already without enough buildup or explanations.
@@weihanwang The soulmate thing made sense to me, Dawson and Joey have a pure love that exceeds romance or friendship; it's just is. Pacey won for me because he was the one to find her desirable before the 'makeover' and he and joey just worked better romantically but let's not try to undermine what Dawson and joey have

For dawson everything was pre established. He is good guy or the golden guy. His parents loves, his friends are very supportive and joey have huge crush on him and he is dating Jen. We never got to know why everyone loves him.
In case of pacey audience didn't like his character initially. But there was so much layer to his character, audience actually got to see him change and started rooting for him.
I watch this video at least once a day while working from home. Again... their chemistry from the beginning cannot be denied. ❤️ Pacey is just a beautiful soul.
I never usually comment on these videos, but after watching this video I just want to say thank you. This is one of the best Pacey and Joey videos I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot LOL. It brought me back to Wednesdays watching the WB, thanks for bringing back the nostalgia and memories that this show used to give me. Such an awesome video.

There's a statute of limitations on being given the green light? Which tbf, Dawson did in series 1. Seems a big hypocritical for Dawson to call the shots over Joey and Pacey when he got trodden on by and trod on Joey multiple times! He told Pacey that he was the BEST person to be with/friends with and look out for Joey. He got with Jen in season 1. He was obsessive about her and lost his virginity to her in season 5. He got with Eve in early season 3, didn't seem to care that Joey ended up dating AJ, then lost his shit when Pacey and Joey fell for each other even though he rejected Joey and didn't want them to get back together until he realised Joey wanted the BETTER man in Pacey! He threw them together by making Pacey the shoulder to lean on, so he could carry on seeing Eve!
I mean... Dawson even FORGAVE JACK who made a move on Joey when he [Dawson] was still WITH her. Jack and Dawson became FRIENDS when Joey dumped Dawson for Jack!
Joey was no better, don't get me wrong. But Dawson can't just suddenly decide to want Joey, after pretty much disappearing from her life entirely for most of season 3 so he could get his rocks off with Eve or kiss Jack's ex at a party, or befriend and run to Nikki for advice or to hang out with her and admire her when working on movie projects! Joey even said she didn't like that Dawson ran to Nikki with his problems after Joey had offered to be there for him. She said she hated that Dawson didn't ask about AJ. But then all of a sudden, a decent guy comes along that is GOOD FOR and GOOD WITH Joey, soneone she truly loves and wants to be with and Dawson forgives Joey but writes Pacey off BIG time even though Pacey was going to be honest about his feelings for Joey. If it hadn't been for Jen being a stirring big mouth and Joey STOPPING Pacey from doing the right thing? I think Dawson would have been hurt, but given the go ahead. So I personally think that Pacey was given the shit end of the stick there.
I've always liked them! I never understood why people wanted Dawson and Joey together (I get the BFF relationship), but Dawson was not a good match for her. He smothered her and stayed in the films. Pacey had done so much for her, and the chemistry is there!! Love them!

Exactly the other 5 seasons until the end of season 6 Joey was all about Dawson there’s no way someone just switches like that it’s unrealistic..Pacey never pushed her to do anything great Dawson did you must’ve forgot how terrible Pacey did her at prom and how she made him feel like nothing..but he’s in love with her huh 🤔 I’ll never be with someone who makes me feel like nothing!! And Joey saying that crap about being in Dawson room watching movies well she’s the one who was climbing in his window every single day so it couldn’t been that bad...Joey full of it honestly truthfully I wanted Dawson to marry a beautiful nice woman so Joey could cry as usual..the other ppl part Dawson dated 4 other women the whole 6 seasons Joey knew about 3 and cried everytime. Pacey dated 24 other women & Joey cried about 0...so how does she end up with Pacey..like I said it’s unrealistic she never showed interest in Pacey throughout the show then boom...her love for Dawson wasnt of a best friend she’s in love with Dawson but it scares her.

Time and time again, Pacey proved that he was the best character on Dawson's Creek. He deserved better than Tamara. He deserved better than Andie. He deserved the best leading lady.
Pacey and Joey was one of the best romances on TV. The whole show couldve ended when they sailed off together.

THIS IS SO FREAKING AMAZING AND PERFECT! their journey & buildup was just beautiful and their relationship might've had conflicts and fights but that's normal, it's not all rainbows & butterflies all the time, but getting through the fighting is what makes a REAL relationship, they fight but they ALWAYS made up, their BEAUTIFUL, delena reminds me so much of them because their journey and buildup was beautiful and they fought a lot too but ALWAYS got through it, but yeah PJo was one of my very first ships, I shipped DJo too but every time I rewatch (I own s3-4 + the series finale disk) he makes me madder & madder! he rejected her and they weren't together and he acts like he could tell Joey what to do?? she ended it with pacey because of Dawson in 3x20! they didn't plan it or expect it to happen, they just fell IN LOVE. thank God they were ENDGAME, I know KW planned a DJo ending so I'M SO HAPPY it was changed lol PACEY & JOEY ARE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT TOGETHER. and they have some of the mist natural & effortless CHEMISTRY ever, DJo it felt a little forced t h.
Sara Kennedy Plus it would've been unrealistic for Joey and Pacey to not fight lmao Their entire relationship from the start was banter and little arguments so even though they did fall in love, they were still stubborn Joey and Pacey. Pacey was insecure and he might've gotten the girl in the end but it just exacerbated those insecurities once he was with her. So I think the fact they did have little conflicts but got through them until the end of the season was true to the characters.
Season 2 they were intentionally kept apart and given separate love interests because they saw the actors chemistry from the very beginning especially after the snail hunting episode and didn't want the fans to experience it too soon! They always intended on putting the characters together but they didn't want to do it too soon in the series and felt like they needed to develop the characters individually first! The plan was to put them together cause angst and drama for Dawson/Joey and Pacey and then reunite Dawson/Joey in the end as endgame soulmates however the Pacey/Joey pairing was a huge ratings success and took on a life of its own forever changing the trajectory of the show!

@@sarakennedy2633 in season 4 when Joey gets drunk and she and Pacey fight Dawson sees them and later tells Gretchen that he'd seen them happy seen them kiss and that he'd just seen them fight and it was even worse than seeing them happy because he could see how deeply they felt for each other! To me that speaks volumes and basically says it all!

just finished rewatching 5 seasons of Fringe and now here I am. never watched DC and never been a fan of love triangle but seeing a clip with baby Josh is so amusing. so he's been a lovable smartass even before Fringe. I love it. I may start watching it just for Josh scenes.

While i was a DJ fan during its original run, now looking back DJ were too dysfunctional in a romantic relationship. Yes they were soulmates but soulmates are not always romantic or meant to last. They made better friends and that friendship was the heart of the show. Pacey and Joey had so much more chemistry together and i am happy now that ended up together. I believe Dawson should have ended up with Jen. Im still upset they killed her off.

As much as I love the Pacey/ Joey pairing, both Pacey & Dawson acted inappropriately at different times. In Season 3, starting with THE LONGEST DAY episode when Dawson found out from Jen that Joey and Pacey have feelings for each other, he acted like he had some kind of hold over her even though they've been broken up for quite some time & then proceeded to act like a self-righteous ass during the SHOW ME LOVE and THE ANTI PROM episodes. When the final episode of season 3 called TRUE LOVE aired, Dawson finally redeemed himself by telling Joey to follow her heart and be with Pacey. He came to the realization that they wanted to be together. Great 👍 So Joey and Pacey sail off into the sunset ⛵ Literally !!! Then comes Season 4 we're Pacey shows his not so attractive jealous side. Every time Joey brought up Dawson in conversation or wanted to spend time with Dawson, Pacey had a cow 🐮 !!! Clearly, Joey was in love with Pacey, but that didn't stop the little green monster for rearing its ugly head. Pacey just couldn't get over her lifetime friendship with Dawson and truly believed that he was Joey's soulmate which may be true because there is more than one kind of soulmate Illustrated in the series finale where Joey ultimately chooses Pacey over Dawson ❤ I still believe that Dawson was enacting some sort of revenge against Pacey when he hooked up with Pacey's sister Gretchen in season 4 😵 Does anyone else agree 👍 ?
