Macedonians are mostly just Bulgarians who lived in Yugoslavia. Just like how Kosovans are mostly Albanians who lived in Yugoslavia.
In the US we learned its the other way around actually, bulgarians are a hybrid of Macedonia and some area closer to asia I don't rlly remember.

Greeks didn't even understand the language that Alexander and his father spoke, they called them varvarins or barbarin because they weren't greek, if you read Herodotus you will see that he call greeks an idolatrous tribe and a mix of nations. To this day there are people in Greece's villages who still speak Macedonian, and the tens of thousands of Macedonians that were expelled from Greek regions and were forbidden to speak Macedonian in Greece.

@@Khalfas I think most people consider Alexander the Great as Greek, it’s just that most people get confused over the naming of modern Macedonia, more people have heard of north Macedonia than the Greek Macedonian region and so they assume the Ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedon was located where North Macedonia is now, (much like how the Byzantine Greek city of Constantinople is now in Turkey) even though the actual kingdom of Macedonia was almost entirely in modern Greece.
@@Khalfasit's mostly because greeks of his lifetime did not recognize Alexander as greek until he started conquests. Macedonians were seen as sheperd cousins of greeks, not the same people. They werent culturally, linguistically and politically the same. Now since North Macedonia adopted the name, it claims the same things which is true, their language and culture is very distinct from greek. However it's also extremly far from ancient Macedon lul.
Ohrid is a definitely nice visit, very chill, significantly better experience than Lake Tahoe.

Great video, genuinely had a good laugh as a Macedonian myself.
As for the boats (we used to have two but the other one is left to rot near a hospital) we got them thanks to a Croatian military general who was stationed there. When the Yugoslav army was retreating from Macedonia they took every single equipment in favor of a peaceful breakup, but the Croatian general was having none of it, and neither were the locals in Ohrid, and so near the now military base where the boat is the Yugoslav army and the Macedonian Territorial Defence were on a standoff. No one wanted to shoot the first bullet, and so eventually things would get resolved peacefully and the boats would stay...... But with fake plastic turrets instead of the 120mm ones.
Eventually we would put real turrets again in fear that Albanian pirates might start causing havoc via spillover of the Civil war that happened in 1997 (these pirates would stay in albanian territory but would be responsible for speeding up the extinction of the endemic Ohrid Trout)

bro "north makedonia" doesnt exist. Makedonia is a greek state and the people that live in the so called "north makedonia" area are serbians/bulgarians and they are slavic speaking. Big mistake to mess with the balkans.
Edit1: and this is the problem with them callings themselves makedonians. Most people like you Geopold get confused with historical events. The new modern fake "north makedonia" has nothing to do with Cyril and Methodius and didnt even fking exist when the Cyrilic alphabet was invented. Cyril and Methodius were born in THESSALONIKI which is in MODERN GREECE in the GREEK STATE OF MAKEDONIA. They have nothing to do with so called "north makedonia". "north makedonians" dont speak greek or ancient greek or anything close to these to languages. They are speaking serbian or bulgarian which is definetly slavic.
Edit3: 2:08 Alexander the great wasnt even born in the land were the modern fake slavic "north makedonia" is as you suggest. He was born in Pella which was part of the ancient (greek) makedonian kingom and Pella is still in modern greece.

Fun fact, Greeks don't think they should have any land belonging nowadays to North Macedonia.
They support that the Macedonian Kingdom was a Greek kingdom ( which is basic historical knowledge to be found in any international history book ) and that the Slavic people who arrived and settled in the region in the 6th century A.D. (long after the fall of the Macedonian empire) are not relevant to the Macedonian Kingdom, did not speak Greek nor were they Greeks ( which is not denied by North Macedonia ). Therefore, it doesn't make HISTORICAL sense to include the world Macedonia in the name of the country.
